Since when has following the official line, cheerleading for the US and kissing GWB`s A$$ considered ``bold`` and something that required ``brains``. What introspection? I am not an Arab, I do not believe in the theology espoused by the Khartoum Government, neither am I supporting them, in fact the US government has been cosying up to them recently- maybe they were promised a slice of the oil pie in the region. Who knows

Taking away the Khartoum government will not end the problems facing Africa or even their own country, the US brings it up as distraction, human suffereing for them is always background noise, the proposed sanctions would produce even greater misery for the poorest of the poor. Look at their hypocrisy, out of the $94.5 BILLION emergency war spending bill for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US gave $60 million towards a UN peace-keeping force for Darfur. IT does not require much math skills to conclude where their priorities are, not to mention how understandable it is for the Sudan government to resist all non African union troops because the UN more often than not acts like the whore of the US, when on the ground in a different country.

Following the official line does not require much brains or boldness, going against the official distractions often does.

To have such boldness requires brains and a lot of these types have none. Even in social gatherings these types are afraid of being introspective, especially when a non-muslim is in the group. These types are still stuck in the sand dunes.

A.H. do you even think about what you`re writing? The fact that the ``ummah``- whatever you mean by it is denying it proves that they are appaled at these acts. If these acts produce such aversion in the Muslims then for sure the ideology that this ``ummah`` is following, whatever it be cannot be to blame.

Whenever the West has brought up issues regarding human rights it has done so for ulterior motives and now it brings Sudan up for the same reason. Fox News has been at the forefront of ``covering`` this even as they wrap the barbarism going on in Iraq neatly in the flag and shout down all dissent. They do not care about displacement- they were willing to displace millions in Afghanistan and Iraq, that didn`t change their war plans, they don`t care about ethnic cleansing either,- though there is no proof that the ethnic identity is as strong in the Darfur situation as they are claiming it to be- they stood down as the widescale murder- traced back to colonial division of groups- was happening in Rwanda, and now in the civil war if the other side was doing most of the killing they would similarly brush it aside. They didn`t care when they bombed the pharmaceutical plant in Sudan, for showmanship, on which over a third of the population of Sudan was dependent upon, they didn`t care about any ``cleansing`` then did they? They talk about ethnic cleansing while butchering Arabs in Iraq and imprisoning African Americans at home, killing them violently at several times the rate of the whites at young ages, and they have the audacity to talk about Sudan.

There are problems in Sudan and Africa much larger than Darfur, they have to do with the economic condition of Africa and its division- both maintained by the neo-colonials through a debt chokehold after draining every drop of sweat and blood and resources they could extract from it during colonial times; sub saharan Africa is going through a catastrophie of disease, over 27 million adults of working age have AIDS, even as these Western pharmaceutical companies are blocking the manufacture of cheap generic meds for all, they are more concerned with profit, have you ever seen this media make these root problems a priority? You want me to take what these elite consider important for distraction and ulterior motives and ignore the wider context in which Africa is being bled to death? I will not do that, there are many forums for them to spout their BS, I will use the little space that I have to struggle for to get the clear message of institutionalized barbarism in the world system for which the US elite and their neo colonial friends hold exclusive responsibility.

Resistance to what and by whom? Fundamentally, the issue is one of taking power from rulers and giving it to the people. The Divine Right of Kings was taken away in Europe and by the American Revolution a couple of centuries ago. In India, it was replaced by the departing brits with a democratic government. In muslim countries, calls for a Caliphate or Islamic State are nothing more than the Divine Right of Kings being used to deny muslims the right to a democratic government.

I will agree that this ``resistance`` (as you call these feverish attempts to maintain kingships by exploiting religion) is doomed - it goes against the tide of history. In fact, it will ultimately amount to nothing more than a footnote in history.
