ballukhan,
These guys are definitely mentally deluded, they have conspiracy theory for every situation and in every case they are the victims, even when thousands of innocents have been killed due to the cause that they propagate. We need psychiatrists to study this particular variety of humans, although the easier solution and a better one is to exterminate them without mercy.

masanamuthu...
I did not wish to bring it up on this board... but a compatriot of yours wanted it bad. However the translation is completely genuine ... and can be found in several places including the Collected Works.
But I agree that is very strange that we would have to discuss this here as well. Perhaps a little more restraint is the need of the day...

...having gone through the varying range of emotions...from devkant to ranjit to ballu khan to burpinder...what shines brilliantly is the spirit of the mumbaikar in these dark days...the selfless service by the chaiwalla to the taxi driver to the doctors and nurses...with such actions one`s faith in humanity is restored...otoh jingoist solutions offered by the most voluble ballu khan and ranjit to destroy pakistan with a nuclear strike or covert operation in pakistan or the israelis tactics in hitting deep in pakistan..makes me laugh... i suggest they specially ballu khan offer himself for the covert ops in pakistan, he being a muslim will find it easier to melt into the background and create havoc in pakistan... ballu if you need any help, i can get you in touch with the local RAW chief here on chowk...

Devkant,
Shaheed is used not only for people who willingly give their lives up, but for those who die in accidents and such, and other situations. It is beleved that their sins are cleansed and they go to the next life pure. Hence the use of the word Shaheed.
Thanks
Ally

The point of quoting Hermann Goering, Nazi war crimes criminal, on manipulation is that a nation or an individual are most vulnerable to manipulation when they are attacked or when there is a perception of attack. (Hermann must have seen how German`s were manipultated.)
These events are such that the politicians can get anything that they want by playing on the emotions of the people (junta). I do not think we know what is going on, why these blasts happened, and who was behind them. Therefore, it is important to get to the bottom of it by completing the investigations, think through, and look at all the possibilities and not get manipulated by the perceptions.
The people behind these and other attacks that kill innocent people are the worst kind and need to be dealt with same severity and fervor, no matter how lofty a moral goal is being pursued either by individuals or states, under which such attrocities are committed.

[This is all very well, but how do you resolve the problem?]
This IS the solution - according to your deep philosophy - remember?
Wasn`t it you who said that people are dispensable for achieving strategic goals?
Are you going back on your own logic now?

All this interaction is bull $hit..
My suggestion to Hindus and Muslims:
Plan A)
Give up violence and resolve all issues diplomatically, make a confederation of India/Pakistan economically, people still need VISA but Business travel is based on some kind of Platnium plus VISA scehme(retina scan PASS). Let the business people from both the countries generate billions of dollars, tax them high(40% at source).
Use this money to invest in Kashmir, Punjab and Gujrat infrastructure(border areas most affected).
Have a unified Government/Police at the borders for India and Pakistan. (6-4 ratio).
let this body be managed by DESIs who live in Western countries to eliminiate bias. Or hire an American.
When all the people in India and Pakistan would prosperous they would think less about Jihad and violence.
Plan B)
Let us have an outright War and the victor gets the trophy.

One thing I am quite sure of is that it cannot be an unprovoked attack, so lets not propound madmen theories. The fact that the third world war has begun and it is and will be fought in the cities around the world is an undeniable fact. I do not think any citizen can be termed as innocent anymore; however, there are just two catagories that citizens can be categorized into - survivors and the dead.
Usually, governments are slow to adopt to a new situations, but ultimately governments will be able to device strategies to counter offences (terrorism). But logically, as a citizen, it is nothing but a wishful thinking. The most a government can do is to use terrorism as a counterterrorism measure but it is quite evident through the US invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and treating their citizens as they did that it would does no good using this strategy. Another example is the Napak fouj`s invasion of Waziristan and that of the occupation of Kashmir by Indian Army. As a matter of fact using state terrorism as a tool of counterterrorism is exactly a terrorist would want, as the above cited examples have proven. By stooping to the level of terrorists governments get themselves onto the terrorist`s turf. In this turf only that will survive who is quick to adopt. As mentioned earlier governments are the slowest to adopt. History has a proof in itself that even if governemnt starts using Gestapo and soviet tactics to control their civil societies they are bound to fail. Even gas chambers fail to deliver in this regard.
History has also a proof in it that the only method that works is the method that West applies in their respective polities. This method is the political method of give and take and establish constitutional social contracts. This method is different from what is termed as the ``democratic method`` which strives to establish the tyrrany of a social elite. The western method of democracy fails here because even in the strongest democarcies more than half of the population stays away from political process. They are either indifferent to it or are hopeless about it. So with this method an elected government cannot be termed as a representative of majority, it can only be termed as a representative of one segment of society. That is the reason terrorist attacks happen against democarcies. Terrorism is not an act of war, it is a political expression. A wrong definition of this phenomenon has thus plunged the world into the mess that it is in today.
So in this morbid scenario what can an ordinary citizen do.
The least he can do is to demand the truth and accept it. It might not help him survive but it sure would lead him to correct what is wrong.

Violence against civilians should be condemned in all its forms. By bombing the Mumbai trains, militants have stooped to the same level as the Indian government that has killed 90,000 Kashmiris simply for demanding their rights.

Another of those snide ``we`re very sorry but you guys deserved it/ asked for it`` comments is going to make me very angry indeed. But why should we be surprised? Thes are the same arguments that emerged, first rather uneasily then louder and louder, after 9/11, 7/11 and any other combination of odd numbers that you`d prefer.
And the same people too i see. Urstruly miya, so no citizen is innocent these days huh? Nice gag. One of shakespeare`s?
