Harish mian,
I really didn`t want to make this into an India-Pakistan match given that this is a very sad occasion for all of us... but must you offer your rearend for an opening of the can of whoopass on every single board?
While the proponent I defend was held by your ``finest`` leaders to be the Best Ambassador of Hindu Muslim Unity for three decades and the theory you refer to did not claim that Hindus and Muslim could not exist together .... we do know of a person who divided humanity along caste, race and color lines... his name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
aka Mahatma ... Gandhi believed that INTERDINING between people of different Castes and religions was EVIL and WRONG.
I produce for your benefit Mahatma Gandhi`s theory of Caste Organisation
A translation of a Gujrati essay he wrote in 1922 for Niya Jawan
(1) I believe that if Hindu Society has been able to stand it is because it is founded on the caste system.
(2) The seeds of swaraj are to be found in the caste system. Different castes are like different sections of miliary division. Each division is working for the good of the whole....
(3) A community which can create the caste system must be said to possess unique power of organization.
(4) Caste has a ready made means for spreading primary education. Each caste can take the responsibility for the education of the children of the caste. Caste has a political basis. It can work as an electorate for a representative body. Caste can perform judicial functions by electing persons to act as judges to decide disputes among members of the same caste. With castes it is easy to raise a defense force by requiring each caste to raise a brigade.
(5) I believe that interdining or intermarriage are not necessary for promoting national unity. That dining together creates friendship is contrary to experience. If this was true there would have been no war in Europe.... Taking food is as dirty an act as answering the call of nature. The only difference is that after answering call of nature we get peace while after eating food we get discomfort. Just as we perform the act of answering the call of nature in seclusion so also the act of taking food must also be done in seclusion.
(6) In India children of brothers do not intermarry. Do they cease to love because they do not intermarry? Among the Vaishnavas many women are so orthodox that they will not eat with members of the family nor will they drink water from a common water pot. Have they no love? The caste system cannot be said to be bad because it does not allow interdining or intermarriage between different castes.
(7) Caste is another name for control. Caste puts a limit on enjoyment. Caste does not allow a person to transgress caste limits in pursuit of his enjoyment. That is the meaning of such caste restrictions as interdining and intermarriage.
(8) To destroy caste system and adopt Western European social system means that Hindus must give up the principle of hereditary occupation which is the soul of the caste system. Hereditary principle is an eternal principle. To change it is to create disorder. I have no use for a Brahmin if I cannot call him a Brahmin for my life. It will be a chaos if every day a Brahmin is to be changed into a Shudra and a Shudra is to be changed into a Brahmin.
(9) The caste system is a natural order of society. In India it has been given a religious coating. Other countries not having understood the utility of the caste system, it existed only in a loose condition and consequently those countries have not derived from caste system the same degree of advantage which India has derived. These being my views I am opposed to all those who are out to destroy the caste system.
And you call this fellow Mahatma? Shame on you.

Tahmed Sahib, baat tau aapney ekdam theek kahi magar jo yeh badley ki aag andar jal rahi hai usko kehan jaa kar bhujaian??
In many such attacks, India has blamed terrorist groups operating in Pakistan. But Pakistan always stone-walls it. It refuses to even acknowledge that such groups exist on its soil. Then who are these people who are doing such things--Angels from heavens????
And if everybody has to become Allah ka sipahi, then theek hai..aap apney Allah key sipahi hain aur hum apney Allah key.

Re: # 77 Khadiboli
(And just see, how cleverly, their FM has linked the Mumbai Blasts with Kashmir today. This is nothing but to pre-empt any adventure being contemplated by Indian Government. )
I`m not sure if their FM linked the two attacks. This linkage was done by our very own home minister. Unfortunately for us, we have extremely weak people running the govt starting from the PM himself. Except for our FM, i cannot think of any one person in the cabinet who is worthy of the position and the post they are holding.
As far as diplomacy is concerned, the previous govt was much better in that game, especially Mr. Jaswant Singh.
Ballu:
I can tell you right away that majority of the indians support action to be taken against jehadis across the border. Even after the parliament attack when the massive military build up happened along our borders, majority of the indians were ready for a fight to finish. But what happened then?????
Unlike the Israelis who are prepared from their childhood regarding the threat to their existence, we indians are not. Regarding Kandahar, i`ll not drag it further into this discussion becuase its not relevant now. we can discuss that later.

A subvert operation i.e. terrorist attack is easier and more safe..nobody knows who has done it.
Will wonders never cease. Now we`ve got Indians agreeing with the Jihadis on this point!

Sorry to say that again tum apna 1947 ka Long Play Record ley kar baith gaye.
When are you going to grow up, man????
It will be very good if Gandhi-Jinnah remain on the discussion boards only. But it appears that the legacy left by these two greats is not going to die so easily. Abhi bahut jaaney jayengi en dono key naam par..

Despicable act!!! Nothing could be lower than targeting civilians in this way. I know it doesn`t mean much but my sincerest condolences to those who lost loved ones, and prayers for those who are struggling with injuries.
Now it is up to Pakistan to prove that it has gotten into the peace process with India in good faith. It is up to us to investigate on our side and if we find that it is one of our rabid organizations that carried this out, then we must mete out the severest justice. Otherwise our government and citizenry has no leg to stand on while commenting upon atrocities committed by others.
Regards,
Irfan Hamid.

Its an old saying. Jo jis zuban main bolta ho ussey usi juban main baat karni chaheye.
And man, its you Muslims who have teached us Hindus all these wonderful things of the world. Be happy. Aur bhi kuch ho tau batao--we will be happy to listen them.

#82 khadiboli: i am not interested in your empty threats. pakistan is capable of defending itself militarily, and that is not an issue.
i am only interested in other chowkies demonstrating respect for those who died yesterday and in recognizing the perpetrators of this crime as being the common enemy of all humanity, including pakistanis as well as indians.

With sufficient public pressure government would be more than willing to undertake a covert operation against these jehadi groups inside Pakistan!
There has to be sufficient public outrage and reaction to make the government understand that the public requires such stern action against the jehadi leaders across the borders so that they do not thrive and even think of trying to do it again.............

(I dont think what Israel can do , anybody else can do..even US will think twice.
For people like us ,it is KKBK..nothing else. A subvert operation i.e. terrorist attack is easier and more safe..nobody knows who has done it. )
Tell me, which country in the world has the baIIs to mess around with israeli citizens. NONE. WHY????
because their govt will chase the attackers even to hell if need be in order to bring the attackers to justice. Potential trouble makers fear the worst before attacking israel or her citizens. This is the kind of fear that i feel the indian govt must create in the hearts of jehadis etc.
a subvert operation is not that effective because you can only float theories of who was responsible. with successful covert operations, the govt can send out a clear signal that no one can get away by attacking indians. even if these operations are unsuccessful, the govt has still sent a signal that the state will do what it takes to protect its citizens.
Tahmed sahab:
Thanx for your message.
I ONCE AGAIN REQUEST INTERACTORS HERE NOT TO TURN THIS BOARD INTO A INDIA PAKISTAN MATCH, HINDU MUSLIM BASHING AND NOW THE LATEST, GANDHI JINNAH MATCH.

Re: # 91,
Agreed. We are people who know each other (in a manner of speaking). We should not let this venomous incident plunge us into divisive nationalism. The best course would be to rise above our religious/national/sectarian biases and at least voice our sympathies and support for those who have suffered and are still suffering.

Irfan Hamid.
