“Ok. So ZAB was not a liberal. I am not a liberal. NS was not a liberal. Benazir is not a liberal. Who is? Hamidm? Tahmed? Or is it the army of Pakistan that you feel is liberal.”
Short answer….ZAB, BB, NS were/are better than the army or liberal than the mullah… But you are, I think, a liberal who is kind of under stress lately :)
Hamidm and tahmed both in my opinion are liberal …It is matter of degree of separation…
Will discuss the whole scope of it some other time….

Yes, HP, you have introduced a new angle here, i.e. the Saudi fundings. I will research into it if that was of decisive significance. But you do have a point.

Not the exact analogy, but this is like saying if you don`t want the cops to kill you, you - the hostage - kill the hostage taker first.

the practioners of the religion of peace(PROPs) have no problem hiding among civilians..most pakis cheer on islamic terrorists when they kill non-muslim civilians....
If the lebs don`t want dead civilians, push the hezbollah out of civilian areas...

#512 hamidmji,
Let`s look back at the sequence of events - Hizbullah raids israel, kills some soldiers and captures two. Israel goes on rampage on the pretext of stopping the movement of the captured soldiers, bombs road, bridges, apartment buildings in south lebanon and beirut. Hizbullah then fires rockets into israel.
A responsible country, any responsible country, would have tried diplomacy first before starting to lay an entire nation to waste.

Babboon-bachay2.
atheists do not have a soul. Even your Chimp education is incomplete. Chimp-children if they evolve have ``anima`` or ``id``--but never soul. Even if you proclaim that you are a hanafi-chimpee-wimpee you have no soul.
You are doomed yourself even before the doomsday. Never forget that.

VrV, I had a fight with you earlier, but this post shows a different person. Why is that? Is it because of those pictures?
My friend, these pictures just show a small fraction of what`s going on. For the reality in full cruel nakedness, go to ogrish.com. But you might have to rush to puke.

“I still haven`t forgiven myself for watching, quietly and forlornly, as a student, when ZAB went to the gallows, just with a sense of doom. And no liberal amongst his hundreds of millions of admirers who had his posters stuck on their walls, including myself, did anything to save him”
That is not true.
I don’t know where you were in 1979, but there were huge protests everywhere in Pak and Sindh kept burning until 1983… I think you just did not have the correct info on that.
The problem was that the army was too strong for the street power and the Islamic parties created enough mayhem to confuse people on that issue.
Btw, ZAB has no liberal dream but better than army type of thing...
this is completely off topic here… we will have to discuss this some other time…

zeemax,
........... ``I request the serious interactors to kindly boycott all the Indians on this board. It`s not their war, and they are just an unwelcome intrusion with their hate agendas. ``
.... are you suggesting that this is OUR war ???? ........ what do we have in common with the lebanese and the palestinians ?........ when was the last time they supported us on kashmir ?........ how many arabs do you know who actually think that you are their brother ?..................... how about the war in darfur - is it our war ?........... what about the iran/iraq war - which side were we on ?
......... it is about time we came out from under the effect of arab imperialism and gave up on this notion that somehow we have anything in common with them
...... next time you meet a hindoo, look into his eyes and you will see your ancestor`s soul in them; look into an arab`s eyes and you will see your ancestors` tormentor ............
p.s. personally i look into a chimpanzee`s eyes and see my own soul - but that is a digression from the subject at hand ..........

Joint American/Israeli/Saudi/Egyptian/Jordananian strategy to weaken Iran
CNN was actually speculating that the US, Israel, Soodi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan all have a common aim in thwarting the growing Shiite menace in the Middle East. The interests of these various parties are coming together in Lebanon, where the Sunni Soodis, Egyptians, and Jordanians welcome the prospect of the hated Shia Hizbollah being decimated even by Israelis. Soodi Arabia has been very unhappy at the dominance of Shias in the new Iraq and the growing influence of Iran in the neighborhood.
So, Chowk`s own right-wing fundo whacko Sunni Wahabbi mullahs need to get with the agenda and start chanting the Soodi mantra of Sunnihood.

Zee, there is nothing diplomatic in what I say. The liberal opposition to the religious/fanatics groups is well known.
You are being swayed by the current events and I am looking at the big picture. So, when I say that religious and the fanatics groups don’t present the solution for the Palestinian problems, I base it on their previous performance.
Saudia supported Hamas, both financially and politically. Their association with Saudia is still in tact. How much faith do you have in the kingdom to help resolve the Palestinian problems? History suggests that the kingdom has always stabbed the Arabs in the back. I am suspicious of any group that is supported by Saudis.
Second, If you look at the recent history, you will notice how gung-ho Saudis were for the US action against Saddam and you know what, the PLO lost power in Palestine after Sadam’s removal. Never under estimate the power of money in politics.
Hamas has dubious credentials in the Palestinian struggle.
Hezbollah is another group supported by another religious and sectarian government of Iran and they were supported by Iran when Israel was pounding on PLO in Lebanon in the 80s. The Iranian instead of supporting the PLO, propelled Hezbollah on Lebanese and further polarized that nation for Israel to take advantage of for almost 18 years.
The sectarian politicians cannot take a long-term view of the situation and lack the political wisdom and vision to resolve complex issues facing the Arabs now.
I would again suggest that you look at the situation objectively.
Haven`t read your post 529 yet...

aangaara: trouble with these armchair warriors on chowk is that their concept of communication is to exchange insults. So, no point trying to have a discussion with them. When the dog barks, you bark back and watch it get enraged and bark some more. :-)

Aquarius,
I dotn know who you are and what u stand for, but u did us a favour by giving us the link. http://fromisraeltolebanon.info/.
I too saw the sequence of photos of a mother and son in the British press. Mother was touching the face of her elder son (aged less than 12 or so) telling him to take care of his little brothers (reported in the newspapers) and in the other photos she was snapped as dying. It`s poignant.
The site photos (http://fromisraeltolebanon.info/) are stomach churning. I dont know if the western media shows it, I doubt. Normally they dont show corpses but the girls signing rockets is way too reprehensible.
This world becaem too mad to see things in humanistic perspective. If the Hezbollh did these similar killings in dozens, Israel did them in hundreds. Might became right; it`s a jungle world.
