Burpy,
FYI, IMO that OIC or UNO issue call ASAP for COH and force IDF SOBs and AWOL USA GOP administration to stop being DUI of AIPAC, JDL, ADL, WRT negative NPV and IRR of failed policy resembling tactics of BJP/RSS/JS/SP/BD/SS/VHP and JI/JUI/JUeP/SeS/LeT/HM/ML/PML/MMA/MQM and even JKLF in J&K. USN, USAF, USMC, and PIA are all compicit in this CIA-led IFF blackmail.

Burps, the topic itself is not really very interesting though you must be given credit for having tried hard. The way I understand it, if an acronym becomes too popular, it eventually ends up as a word in its own right (like ``ok``), otherwise it will just fall by the wayside over time.

For a sirdarjee, he is about as boring as can be possible!

Let me put it this way.

It stinks like hell!

Maybe he should start feeling sorry for himself instead of those frikkin` dumbbell numbskull Kashmiri idiots.

Beej, nice to see you`ve added schizophrenia to your other endearing qualities.
And yes, I really value the opinion of someone who comes up with a response to my statement (`` I feel a little sorry for the kashmiris`` ) with this:

Save your fucking pity for the poor dumb-asses who got kicked out of their ancestral homes in the valley.

If you got any left, save it for those of your ancestors who got the same treatment sixty years ago from the pathetic prurience pf the permanently Pure!

Screw you and your pity, you uppity pitiable pathetic prick!

Burps,

That was hilarious! You forgot to mention HNYs that we get in late December and early January :-)

It has something to do with our ever-shortening attention spans. People don`t like to read paragraphs, instead preferring bulleted versions of text. I must concede that it is atrocious to read the chicken-shit floating around in mails, blogosphere and the likes, but this trend is not about to change in a hurry. We better brace ourselves to cope with more acronyms. Considering the ever-increasing numbers of SMSaholics, it won`t be surprising if someone comes up with a new spell-checker for lingo used in text messages.

Interesting read Mr. Burpinder...

chiefly, u must be commended for your compilation which, to say the least, was quite overwhelming....

and then, for the hilarious (ROTFL-type) portion about the unfortunate acronyms... that single paragraph made your effort commendable

as far as the names of the south indian politicians are concerned, i must say that there`s very good reason for using acronyms... why must one put one`s facial muscles under so much stress just for the sake of discussing a pathetic, good-for-nothing politician

Burp,

Talking about acronyms, my company has a 50+ page booklet full of it.

For the first year it was my survival guide, it helped me to understand what was happening around me.

Even now I come across some new ones... a new edition of the booklet would help.

Netiz, are you a banker? A friend who worked at HSBC told me that TLA was actually in use there. The acronym I mean.
VRV, Zarha, rahuls, thanks folks...
kaami, I wish I could write the whole piece around the unfortunate acronyms but there`s only so much stupidity in the world :)))

I have been noticing the acronyms we use in electronic commmunications making their presence felt elsewhere. Saying ``brb`` or ``gtg`` on phones or in informal company doesnt sound out of place now. But the other day I was shocked when, after I cracked a joke, I heard some strange words in the sheepish laughter of my nerdy friend. After a while I was able to discern that he was going- ``ha ha hee hee lol rotfl ha ha hee hee lol rotfl`` .I said``wtf`` to myself. For some reason I and my joke, both felt insulted. Next time he is gonna crack a joke -I am going to make a poker face, turn towards him and say -one word - ``lol``.Lets see how he feels.
