Re: # 15, VRV:

I agree with you a hundred percent. Tipu Sultan can only be compared to Akbar and stands at the same level. Too bad the British did him in by their superior military techniques and equipment.

I am confident the senselessness and virulence of Sanatani, no matter who he/she is not shared by many.

Let us have a toast for Abroo, Salim and malaymishra123!!!

Re: # 15

VRV,

It is extremely likely that the individual is actually Pakistani. From that perspective, and if you read the individual`s messages carefully and in general, the individual is not only humorous but has a point.

Re: # 14

I never crosed your path but I must remind that you carry this Sanatani name and speak the language of Pakistanis? Like Pakistanis do you also read from right to left? Tipu is the no.1 patriot. Have you ever visited Srirangapatnam?

Modern drainage system, introduction modern armaments and the famous mechanical tiger clutching the throat of Englishman, have you ever seen or read about Tipu?

Better we create an independent country of fool`s paradise within India and send guys like you there. Modi can rule you guys in that country there.

Shed some poison.... or atleast change your name before you celabrate India`s Independence day.

Bulleya,

What is the reference of this article being Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V here. It is clowns like you about whom this saying was formulated ``The Eunuch was proud of his bothers Penis``.

The day Indira Nooyi gives say 10% of that 10 million dollar paycheck to a nationalist charity like the National Defence Fund, Child Relief and You, Eklavya Bal Ashram then thump your chest (or breast) and say ``You can take the girl out of India but not India out of the girl``

Re: # 8

I think you have an exaggerated view of your intelligence and ability to distinguish a Muslim from a non-Muslim in India. unless a person is dressed in a distinct dress.

Take the case of famous music composer A.R.Rahman. Once he was a Hindu who became a Muslim. Can you tell the difference rrom looks? Millions of Muslims in India and Pakistan and BanglaDesh are converts who were once Hindus, Buddhists etc.

Kamath.

Abroo Shah,
It is good that you enjoyed your trip to India and looked at things with unprejudiced eyes.
Much needs to be done to improve infrastructure, remove illiteracy, improve healthcare etc. The live of a common poor man can be quite miserable in India. India`s strong points, however, are its functioning democracy, regular multi-party elections, a free media and a civil society etc.
Heres wishing you another trip to India.

A well balanced article, written from a nonprejudised point of view.

Even though, there exists a huge distance between the corporate world and main land India, it coexsits just like the mandir and masjid sharing a common wall. The difference is glaring to an outsider, still there do exists several layers of grey areas blurring the distance. IT revolution has bought many suporting industry, money and employment to non IT India. I know a story of an ordinary plumber who is now a corporate plumbing company doing business worth several cores. You do not find a single unemployed driver, skilled people such as electricians in Bangalore. To such an extent no healthy young human body is left unemployed.

Almost 90% of those employed in giant IT companies are from rural, semi rural, lower and middle class background. Many parents, who never had proper slippers to were, now live in large houses and travel in big, chauffer driven cars. Hence, no room for envy or hatred between these two world. Everybody knows, they are connected to the other world one way or other. The IT has resulted in outsourcing of many jobs related to old economy such as engineering to India, and seen as harbinger of wealth to India.

The ISKON provides mid day meals to thousand of school children ( mostly muncipal and rural schools) on all school days in Karnataka. These are hot, tasty, nutriuos meal cooked in ultra modern kitchen, served to all students irrespective of their caste and religion, including muslims. The programme is called ``Akshaya Patra``, named after famed cooking vessel of Draupadi of Mahabharath. This scheme has resulted in increae in school enrolment, addressed hunger and malnutrision, increase in children`s achademic preformance. Since the success of this programme corporate sector participation in mid-day meals has increased considerably. Giant software corporations such as Infosys and WIPRO are major donors to the programme.

No doubt, in India two extreams co-exhists. Sare jahnase achha haina?

quite impressive:

``PepsiCo names first woman CEO
CFO Indra Nooyi to succeed Steve Reinemund, putting her among the leading women in corporate America.
By Parija B. Kavilanz, CNNMoney.com staff writer
August 14 2006: 4:04 PM EDT

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Soft drink and snack company PepsiCo Inc. announced Monday that chief financial officer Indra Nooyi will take over from Chairman and CEO Steve Reinemund this October. She becomes the first woman to hold the post and enters the list of leading women in corporate America.

Reinemund, who has seen PepsiCo (Charts) pass rival Coca-Cola (Charts) in terms of market capitalization in December for the first time in its history, will remain as chairman of the company until his retirement.

Pepisco Chief Financial Officer Indra Nooyi, who will assume the CEO job in October.

Indian-born Nooyi, who was ranked No. 11 in Fortune`s list of the most powerful women in business, joined the company in 1994 and was named CFO in 2001``

#5, malaymishra123 {``it is sad to see that even though u sound like a modern man with a positive outlook you are still led to believe things by your country that u shud have noticed otherwise. ...If the Pakistani political establishment had half a mind they would realise the benifit of having friendship with India, such benifits cannot be realised with any other country...``}

Mr. Mishra,
I fail to see what in my post #4 led you to believe that I am being jingoistic. I agree with your viewpoint about the benefits of Indo-Pak friendship. Please consider my well-documented record about this necessary aspect of our relations. I have gone so far as to advocate reunification. My point about hostility toward Pakistan is something I noticed, and as you can see from my post, I am hopeful about its erosion in the future. The acceptance of Muslims was a point that I was clearly making in my post #4. I am glad that we can remove any misunderstanding. Thanks.

MR Salim Chauhan
it is sad to see that even though u sound like a modern man with a positive outlook you are still led to believe things by your country that u shud have noticed otherwise.

99% of the INDIANS dont care if ur a muslim or not.If u say some1 ur a muslim he will look at you in the same light as he would a Hindu. As u might have read somewhere that we have a considerable number of muslims in our great country. Please in the name of God donot believe what u hear in your country, as it is plain BS. My best friend is also a muslim. Yes, though upon hearing that u are a Pakistani, the people will be hostile to you.I can honestly say that i myself shall be less hospitable towards you on hearing that u are a pakistani BUT bear in mind that the hostility is towards your country, not at you personally and certainly, CERTAINLY not because of your religion.

And please to clarify further if this discussion turns into a `oh my god the Indians still cannot let go of the fact that pakistan exists`, Indians, GENERALLY hate pakistan not because of the fact that it exists but because of the policies that it has pursued. That it built itsxelf upon Anti-India sentiments and it has always tried to destroy India. Because of the terrorism it outsources to India, because it tries to compete with india and spreads lies about us.If the Pakistani political establishment had half a mind they would realise the benifit of having friendship with India, such benifits cannot be realised with any other country. It is their loss and not ours, we are still going towards a bright future whereas they will remain in their state of pettiness and backwardness.

Abroo,
Thank you for sharing your unique experience. As an avid traveler, I feel even more inspired to one day visit South India. My own experiences of traveling all over north and central India have been very satisfiying and, as a result, I have developed a very pro-Indian outlook - especially when it comes to people to people contact. I have found most Indians to be genuinely hospitable, friendly, and accepting of my Muslim identity. Only when discussing Pakistan do I detect any amount of hostility and even that, hopefully, is eroding rapidly as the cross-border tourism accelerates. Very interesting and balanced article. Thanks.

A good one.

A real assessment of India though a biased one--in favour of India.

A person who has lived mostly in the United States was not overhelmed by India`s huge mass of humanity, starking poverty etc. is noticeable.

Abroo:

It was a great pleasure to read your wonderful article. Strictly speaking at the age of 60, you could not have been born in Pakistan. I am sure you inherited the culture of Sarhadi Gandhi - Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan.

Your positive attitude towards India is a valuable asset for both countries, even though you have lived most of your life around Virginia where I also spent first ten years graduating in nuclear engineering.

You went to India just like an Indian might have after staying the long duration outside the country. I can vouch for your relevance, authenticity and astuteness, in making the observations. I had the pleasure of going to Bangalore three years ago and felt exactly as you described upon entering the Electronic City.

Your observation about the stark contrast between technological and industrial India and the traditional India the management of them by the India`s social, technical and industrial leaders is absolutely on the mark. Truly, if the management is carried out correctly and in the national spirit India will take off from the key threshold where it stands now.

It was so commendable and consistent with your general attitudes, as I judge, that you went to ISKCON temple and remarked the mosques and temples often share the walls in India. Even though you have the benefit of stance away from the hurly-burly of India-Pakistan hothouse, we need more Indians as well as Pakistanis like you.

Please do not be discouraged with the trivial and trite remarks like that of Kamath, no matter whether they originate from Indians or Pakistanis. He picked at one of the most peripheral aspect and completely misjudged the real significance of your statement inspite of his praise for the Srirangpatnam. Though I would agree with him that Sriranpatnam is a place must seeing. And before there is any misunderstanding, I am an Indian Hindu. I bet there is good chance that if the ISKCONIs had known you are a Muslim they would have expressed their admiration. And further, I wish I could say that Sanatani Hindus would also do the same!

I wish your company interacts with the outsourcing centers in India and you get more chance to visit India with your family. Best of luck!
