But so much venom against you just for that? Unbelievable ... what did she want published anyway? Why can`t she just stick it in here and we can read it and give our comments?
I mean, really, why not?

GT:
We are talking about faith and core beliefs that people build their life on, invest their life choices based on it and live through it every day not to mention the familial and cultural pull that cannot exist without first having a harmony of beliefs anmong people.
The kind of things sitting at the heart of existence that if subject to radical changes would make that existence of peoples null and void. This is, i guess, different from proving fermat`s last theorem or creating a new form of music.
And i am thinking that when confronted by such a dilemma, one way is to escape it. Escapism can be achieved by many ways: for some it is suicide bombing for others it is radical interpretation of incompatible beliefs and yet others practice ``rationality`` over blind faith.

Zee you really got to help me on this one. Please do elaborate.
On a lighter note:
If I replace Allah with ``Jesus`` then do I get the US?

Zee,
I am not agreeing with his viewpoint or his cut & paste articles. You must admit though, that he keeps Pakis sharp, witty, and ready - except for the very old and dull ones. :)

Raw_Dust,
Yep ...... understand you now. But dilemma is good, right? And trying to solve it yourself, as opposed to asking uncle so-and-so, is better!
There is some broader connection here. Can`t get a handle on it. I mean, think of our childhood. We crammed a lot, did well in exams etc. .... but hardly learnt to think. There were teachers, parents etc. telling us what to do and how to do things. We then did the same math problems again and again, learned to give the correct answers by barely looking at the questions. Got our 100s period. Questions were not important but answers were. Of course, as a result we are all pathetic innovators. Now things are apparently changing, and it seems from the grassroots - from our values and ethics. And yes we are all confronting these new dilemmas ..... I do not think we are willing to take patent answers from the `greats` (Gandhi, Jinnah, etc.?) anymore.

`` No wonder urstruly, who is more Mullah like, fails to grasp Masadi.``
Dear Inquirer:
And you fail to see why Urstruly wont subject Allah and Mohammad to a thorough and complete sanity check cos there will be things (certain things which Urstruly wont indulge masadi into discussing here for obvious reasons) about Allah and Mohammad duo that only blind faith not logic would provide cover to.

Khalid Sohail: You may find it interesting to analyze the writings and diaries of Suicide Bombers on a personal in a detached study.
But Is there a need to overanalyze these dark minds any more? For, in a short time of a couple of decades since Allah’s soldiers began blowing themselves and other innocent lives, there is a vast body of data has been accumulated by many - psychiatrists, coreligionists, social scientists, anthropologists, political scientists, , historians etc. All these men have analysed it well from all angles. They agree on some fundamental point that is - It is wrong ethically, morally, spiritually to wound and kill innocent lives. These violent acts can not be justified at any time.
What then is the immediate solution? I would say that these deranged minds who commit these heinous crimes by violence acts must be stopped well in advance and must be dealt with extreme and harsh punishment. It may not completely eliminate but greatly reduce these incidents.
Now you say,”.. It is quite possible that if those issues are not addressed by United Nations and international community in a fair and just way, the conflict between the East and the West, Muslim and non-Muslim worlds will continue..” Really ?
I say that today there are far more important global issues such as alleviation of poverty , hunger and disease which need immediate and sustained attentionand efforts by by World Body and international community than attending to the problem of attention seekers like S.Bombers.
Just look at the numbers of S. Bombing ! It is the local and international Muslim community bear prime responsibility to undersatnd, teach and take effective counteraction to stop this insanity. Otherwise this pestering and loathsome problem will continue and global Islamic community will be hurt as much as any other.

GT,
I read your iLog. I had not commented on your idea of the outcome of the ``new individualism`` in spawning democracies in the Muslim World. I think it will.
But with a difference.
A friend wrote to me today, ``When citizens fear their government, you have tyranny; when the government fears its citizens, you have freedom.``- Thomas Jefferson.
I had written back ``And when everyone, both the Government and the citizens fear Allah and Allah alone, you have Islam.``
That`s what I think.

sattar2:
I guess you are referring to certain schools within sunni islam like barelvis who has a whole spiel about Mohammad being ``noor`` (divine) as opposed to ``bashar`` (mortal) and the raison d`etre of why Allah created this whole circus (i.e. universe). I am writing this off the top of my head. Personally, all of this is irrelevant to me.

Re: # 205, masadi:
I AGREE WITH THE PRESENTATION OF THE LOGIC BY MASADI BUT I BELIEVE HE DID NOT CARRY TO CONCLUSION WHICH IS OBVIOUS.
BUT FIRST SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE ARGUMENTS:
1. First, second and third points are exactly right and I agree with the formulation.
2. Special position for the the fourth, i.e., the freedom referred to in there needs further elaboration is a very hopeful line of argument. What is Kabair?
3. ``Fifth, Urstruly states ``If we adopt liberal democracy it means that we think our values, our God, and his Prophet (pbuh) to be inferior to our logical abilities ``
What is completey Un-Islamic in this statement is that he wants us to abandon the thinking and reasoning ability that God has given us, which is evoked more in the Quran than even the exhortation to prayer. I once mentioned that not even Allah is beyond logical/scientific thinking. What I meant by that (other than the Mullah taking that to be blasphemy) was that if you don`t use those criteria to establish Allah, then the ``rat god`` that certain people worship has equal logical validity, i.e. both are beyond logic and thus equally true or untrue. So those people that want us to abandon reason and logic and science to take something as beyond reason authority are actually insulting Allah, holding him equal to a monkey god or a rat god or whatever god.``
****I am glad that Masadi is adopting a rational view, particularly subjecting the conception of God to the requirements of rationality. He can get great help from Tulsidas who has formulated the conception in very rational and viable logic. I can provide that info. No wonder urstruly, who is more Mullah like, fails to grasp Masadi.****
