and do you think any civilian leader either Nawaz or Benazir -- would have done anything different under US ultimatum......except with some dignity -- because the Civis would have consulted the National Assembly and the the people thru their reps ......

I find your post #320 to be despicable. I have already expressed my views concerning the unfortunate dead Indian soldier. While we may not know the person or the reasons for his condition, it is sad enough that there are so-called human beings, such as the ones with guns surrounding the man and the one with the stick beating the women, who have the need to disrespect and humiliate the human body. Why must you use the sufferings of the victims and the brutality of the depraved ones to score any dubious points on Chowk? Please reconsider your action - I know that you are much better than that. Thanks.

If you think back for a minute why Musharraf staged the coup, his job was in danger. It was not a selfless act of saving the country. It was to save his career and possibly his life. Viewed in this context, anyone threatening his hold on power leave alone his life, is liable to be punished and that`s hardly surprising.
While a representative government, popularly elected, is not an answer to all ills, it does have the effect of distributing power a little more broadly and mollifying various competing interests.
I am privy to some of the ugliness in the so-called democracy we have in india. We do have representative governments at the local, regional and national levels, but what we don`t have is a strict rule of law, something the white man has managed to invent, improve and instill. In india we have thugs, murderers and generally unsavory characters for politicians and so long as they are in charge rule of law is not possible. It is the desire for rule of law that brings in military rule as the military is seen as strict disciplinarians, enforcers and intolerant of civilian misdeeds but the military, as you have been finding out, has its own set of problems.

I work in America and i have never met one gora who has anything nice to say about Hindus and theeor BO. Have you ever been to the mall. You can smell a hindu even in the perfume section.

The other point that Hindus are smarter than Muslims and the whole world knows it is not trrue. What the whole world knows is that Hindus are easily tamed. The reason why British were more wary of Muslims and were giving Hindus jobs in their armies were because they knew that Hindus will never be able to stand up to them without Muslim help. Your ``thousand apologies`` attitude is what goras love. I have met thousands of Hindus in America and has never seen anyone who does not have the same ``apologetic`` look in his eyes.
