Israel`s disproportionate response to the Hizb kidnapping was not related to the kidnapping, just as the Atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not related to Pearl Harbor, just like the British and later US firebombing of German cities was not related to the accidental bombing of a London by a lost German plane crew (which was an exception at the time). Similarly, German use of poison gas in WW1 had little to do with the British using poison gas against the Iraqi Arabs and Kurds in the 1920s and Churchil`s desire to use poison gas against the ``uncivilized`` Afghans? Neither are the Jihadists or the Hizb close to the compatible military strength of the opponents at that time. In fact the whole association of this farcial war on terror by the US with World War 2 or of the opponents with Hitler, is a big farce, a conspiracy to justify unrelated events by association with events that have already been judged morally and so the response is automatic.

And finally, given the disproportion in firepower possessed by the US, the fact that they have been unsuccessful so far should tell everyone that this psychological warfare bs, as reflected by this article, is just that BS.

That is very much true...........and the West is again studying the WWII events much more closely to see what and how Hitler was doing at that time and what reponse got the best results. I agree that Germany went on escalating the limits of agression from Chemical Boms, Gas Falmes to v2-s - and the possibility of the A-Bomb was very much there- and the Allied Forces spent a great amount of discussion and deliberations on whether they should be contering with greater force or not. When they got tired of the $hit from Hitler they decided to go on offensive and counter force with a greater force and that brought appropriate result and the peace we saw for a long time. A continuation of this pre-emption of greater force by the Fascist forces was the use of A Bombs by the Allied forces- We can imagine what would have happened if Hitler or Japs got hold of the A-Bomb during WWII.
