One can not but agree with the authors view about terrorism. In fact terrorism has no religion in particular and it is such a monster that it can not be defeated unless there is a joint effort from like minded people.

[Civilizations, in Zeemax`s apt words, are indeed oceans...]
No. Zee_micromini is saying that ONLY Islam is an ocean.
[Yes, Krishna`s message rings true even today, but war and violence are dirty words in most civilizations. ]
The Bhagavat Gita is ONE of the many bodies of philosophical work in Hindu thought. It does NOT define Hindu civilization, just Like Advaita does not either. And the Gita`s justification of war is very different than the pedophile followers` version.

Islam is an Ocean. One can either stay at the shores, or delve deep into it as I`ve done at great peril. And then it is mind boggling. But standing at the shores is equally powerful. And that`s what`s amazing about Islam. That is how I came to be convinced that this thing is a real biggie.]
Yes, a puddle looks like an ocean to an ant. Even cut-and paste jobs like Islam seem profound to boneheaded idiots.

``morons like hamidm who make a living off of selling c ock and bull tales of productivity as they fleece both the workers and the corporations that employ them. ``

When the entire Soviet Bloc threw away the concept of the ``Labour Theory of Value`` after shouting ``Capitalistic-Exploitation`` for 80 years we find the neo-Islamists reviving and mis-appropriating this concept for their purposes of incitement of the ummah.
I can only find hope when states like Pakistan stop funding and supporting these Islamists and when they start realizing that theocratics states built on the foundations of religious beliefs and books are perverse and un-viable. Only then would thse persons stop killing themselves and others for trying to achieve the illusory.
p.s- it is surprising that Asadi`s post which I had quoted contained the word ``cocKK`` which was allowed for posting despite the chowk filter.!! Does Asadi have some extra priviledges on the chowk?

Kaal,
the American civilization, the Indian Civilization, and the Islamic Civilization. .....The first two don`t even understand that there is no inherent value in peace.
Kaal, I will try not to go into the philosophical aspects of this. I will only say that yes, you`re right. For a Muslim, Peace is to die in battle. For the former two, Peace is no battle. So where do these two concepts merge? Peace means something else to the former two that you mention, and quite another to the latter.
Islam is an Ocean. One can either stay at the shores, or delve deep into it as I`ve done at great peril. And then it is mind boggling. But standing at the shores is equally powerful. And that`s what`s amazing about Islam. That is how I came to be convinced that this thing is a real biggie.

I thought Krishna made it clear to Arjun that there is no inherent value in peace.
In any case, the inherent value of peace is well understood by all civilizations and therein lies the problem ... peace in one`s own term. The clash of civilizations is just a quest for that. It is always the war to end all wars. One has to be realistic, as people actually are, and understand that there is no end to this. The question is: Given a war, whether or not one should participate in it and if so then how?

You would probably not agree with this view, but IMO, there are now only three major sources of ideas about human living - the American civilization, the Indian Civilization, and the Islamic Civilization. Of these three, the last is the most globally potent and the most internally coherent force against which the first two are like children standing before an adult.

Meaning thereby, neither the Pope nor the Byzantine he quoted knew their ass from their elbow about what Islam really is. It is an esoteric concept with unparalleled and immense power from the elite down till the very grass roots. It has to be engaged, not confronted. Only then there`ll be peace.

A fifteen minute prayer break wont bring the ``modern economy`` to a standstill, this kind of though belongs to the ``old`` economy of the Victorian era where the worker is like a cog in the machine that is to be ground to the bone. The schedule was invented long time ago, and a prayer break can be easily accomodated in there without any lost production, and workers aren`t slaves to the factories anymore except to morons like hamidm who make a living off of selling cock and bull tales of productivity as they fleece both the workers and the corporations that employ them.

reminds me of my time at british steel plant in uk, it was spread over 4 sq miles, 2000 men working in night shift, over 90% mirpuri. the plant had to be shut down for 1/2 an hour every night for isha prayers, it must have cost them millions in lost production. it`s difficult for modern economy to function with this prayer thing.

hamidm: hmmmmm....I can see you have more serious issues than what I believed to be the case. No man should have to watch some troglodyte eat with hands covered with rice. No man should have to watch a neanderthal - particularly a three-piece suit-wearing neanderthal - lift his leg up like a goat and start rubbing his big toe in the sink!! You have my sympathies. You really do.
Remember Spartacus though. The revolt of the slaves. That is what you need to do - assert your manhood at home. Tell your missus in your deepest voice that from now on there will be certain rules in your household, as follows:
1. Draw the line with the missus on sharing the same table with any individual who eats rice with his/her hands. Just Say No.
2. Draw the line on having to go to a place where footwashers are going to show up - the fact that he is a heart specialist or a nuclear physicist does not change the fact that he is a footwasher-in-the-sink as far as you are concerned. Just Say No.
If the missus proves too strong for you and simply starts laughing when you wag your finger at her and say ``No``....then I have a Plan B for you. But try Plan A first.

#412 Posted by tahmed32 on September 17, 2006 12:48:22 pm
hamidm: You put your finger on the problem when you wrote ``these savages ..... washing their feet in the sink``. That is, you are associating the ``islam`` with the filthy habits of maulvis and forgetting the Islam that the fine students of uet (mughalpura??) practiced when they worked hard and then went to Indus Restaurant in Lahore to listen to the juke box while sipping cold coffee and trying to get the attention of female students from the Fine Arts Department around the corner. That is the Islam I am talking about - where you work honest and you work hard and you dont think you are being sinful if you stop hating your fellow human beings.
Trust me - you can be a muslim and still leave the bathroom as clean and dry as it was when you entered. Allah doesnt want to see you running around with a lota. In fact, is there any mention of the lota in the Quran?? I rest my case.
As for saying prayers in public - the US is big enough to tolerate all kinds of weirdos. Personally, I am against public displays of one`s religious fervor. But if someone gets a kick out of bending down next to the food concession at a baseball stadium (as was the case last year I think with a couple of arabs who were then questioned by security about their strange behavior but let go after they explained they were merely praying for their team to Allah - or something like that), I am sure the world wont come to an end.
I agree with you with the mess they make in Pakistani picnics etc. Here is what I suggest:
1. If attending an open event where hordes of smelly fobs are bound to show up along with their wailing kids, you should show your natural leadership (I know you are a born leader, so dont try to pretend otherwise!!) and organize those fellows - to do clean-up afterwards. I dont guarantee perfect results - but at least there is a hope the school or community center will let you back in.
2. When attending a restricted event, you wont have a problem anyway. I know of at least one regular Pakistani meeting which is restricted - and where us Pakis actually leave the place as clean as it was. People dont bring their wailing kids with them, everyone is nicely dressed up, no one gets into fights over some stupid thing or the other, and so actually get a chance to listen to what is going on..
Notice - the above has nothing to do with Islam or lack thereof!! In fact, in the Pakistani meeting I mention in 2., we often have discussions on muslim culture (including presentations by palestinians etc., and once we had an editor from National Geographic show up to give us a slide show presentation of his visit to muslim countries as part of an article he did on Islam). That is the Islam I am talking about!! Not the stinking Islam of the smelly maulvi who turns every place he goes to into a stable.

......... recently i attended a wedding at an upscale country club where the butlers wear white gloves, open collars are frowned upon, and they pipe in mozart`s five movements into the mahogany paneled bathroom stalls to drown out the bowel movements of their members ........ and there they were....... these .... these savages ..... washing their feet in the sink, slopping water all over the floor and sticking their fingers in their ears ! ........... and then they rushed out helter skelter, strewing shoes all over the mahogany floors, wiping their feet on the persian rugs and lining up to pray, traumatizing already handicapped golfers and little white children who had been taught that the bad zulus were in africa and they were safe in the suburbs ! ..................... was this spectacle really necessary ?
........... even more ridiculous are the picnics of the pakistan asssociation or other islamic organizations when hundreds of men ine up in public parks to prostrate themselves while the women line up twenty feet behind them .......... i wouldn`t blame george allen one bit if he saw this and ran away screaming `macaca !``.............
...... look, i know all about this prayer business - i used to live in 11 e-hall at uet in the seventies which overlooked the masjid and i never ever saw more than 5 or 6 people praying ........heck they couldn`t even get two rows of nimazis on friday ........ what has happened since then ? ...... did i miss the second coming of mohammad ? ............
.......... people should not have sex, defecate or pray in public ........period (and that also goes for that silly old german in a white frock)

Here`s the text (for congenitally dumb inbred islamic monkeys with arab ancestry):
To my Arab brothers: The War with Israel Is Over — and they won. Now let`s finally move forward
By Youssef M. Ibrahim
http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | With Israel entering its fourth week of an incursion into the same Gaza Strip it voluntarily evacuated a few months ago, a sense of reality among Arabs is spreading through commentary by Arab pundits, letters to the editor, and political talk shows on Arabic-language TV networks. The new views are stunning both in their maturity and in their realism. The best way I can think of to convey them is in the form of a letter to the Palestinian Arabs from their Arab friends:
Dear Palestinian Arab brethren:
The war with Israel is over.
You have lost. Surrender and negotiate to secure a future for your children.
We, your Arab brothers, may say until we are blue in the face that we stand by you, but the wise among you and most of us know that we are moving on, away from the tired old idea of the Palestinian Arab cause and the ``eternal struggle`` with Israel.
Dear friends, you and your leaders have wasted three generations trying to fight for Palestine, but the truth is the Palestine you could have had in 1948 is much bigger than the one you could have had in 1967, which in turn is much bigger than what you may have to settle for now or in another 10 years. Struggle means less land and more misery and utter loneliness.
At the moment, brothers, you would be lucky to secure a semblance of a state in that Gaza Strip into which you have all crowded, and a small part of the West Bank of the Jordan. It isn`t going to get better. Time is running out even for this much land, so here are some facts, figures, and sound advice, friends.
You hold keys, which you drag out for television interviews, to houses that do not exist or are inhabited by Israelis who have no intention of leaving Jaffa, Haifa, Tel Aviv, or West Jerusalem. You shoot old guns at modern Israeli tanks and American-made fighter jets, doing virtually no harm to Israel while bringing the wrath of its mighty army down upon you. You fire ridiculously inept Kassam rockets that cause little destruction and delude yourselves into thinking this is a war of liberation. Your government, your social institutions, your schools, and your economy are all in ruins.

Your young people are growing up illiterate, ill, and bent on rites of death and suicide, while you, in effect, are living on the kindness of foreigners, including America and the United Nations. Every day your officials must beg for your daily bread, dependent on relief trucks that carry food and medicine into the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, while your criminal Muslim fundamentalist Hamas government continues to fan the flames of a war it can neither fight nor hope to win.
In other words, brothers, you are down, out, and alone in a burnt-out landscape that is shrinking by the day.
What kind of struggle is this? Is it worth waging at all? More important, what kind of miserable future does it portend for your children, the fourth or fifth generation of the Arab world`s have-nots?
We, your Arab brothers, have moved on.
Those of us who have oil money are busy accumulating wealth and building housing, luxury developments, state-of-the-art universities and schools, and new highways and byways. Those of us who share borders with Israel, such as Egypt and Jordan, have signed a peace treaty with it and are not going to war for you any time soon. Those of us who are far away, in places like North Africa and Iraq, frankly could not care less about what happens to you.
Only Syria continues to feed your fantasies that someday it will join you in liberating Palestine, even though a huge chunk of its territory, the entire Golan Heights, was taken by Israel in 1967 and annexed. The Syrians, my friends, will gladly fight down to the last Palestinian Arab.
Before you got stuck with this Hamas crowd, another cheating, conniving, leader of yours, Yasser Arafat, sold you a rotten bill of goods — more pain, greater corruption, and millions stolen by his relatives — while your children played in the sewers of Gaza.
The war is over. Why not let a new future begin?

I hear that being an Arab in Saudi Arabia, Mo had lots of African blood in him. So how come you are worshipping a macaca? :)))

[However I`ll reproduce 1000 years of sodomizing of Indian sub-continent by the same Arabs/Afghanis/Persians ..... ]
They only sodomized your cowardly ancestors who were too chicken to fight, or could be persuaded to change their religion for money. My ancestors never gave in. Musloos could never conquer ALL of India.
[I can understand that coming from a funny-face macaca. ]
I still don`t see any pictures of your ugly mug. :) I wonder why. Is it because you are too dark? Or is it because you are too ugly?
[Hindnis etc were just weekend disposables ... they stank anyway and kept asking for cigarettes when I didn`t smoke. The Swiss and the French were the regulars. ]
Yes yes. Swiss, french, Indians - all in Jakarta. Get your penis enlarged. The stub is what is preventing you from getting any. And your bad breath. :))
So your ancestors had arab blood in them, eh? Like any of these sand-niggers?

(See if you can spot your ancestor among the whites)

UN Master Theater, a must see show coming up on 19th September.
``The Great Satan`` vs ``The Axis of Evil``
The scene at the United Nations is set for a clash between the ``Great Satan`` and the ``Axis Of Evil`` on the floor of the General Assembly. President George W. Bush and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad will address the UN General Assembly on the same day. At this point, we don`t not know which President will speak first. As usual, the lead speaker has to cover all his bases, while the second can use rebuttals.
More juicy stuff for the Chowk Suicide Jehadi Sympathizers vs their Gora-wannabe Anglo-Saxon ass kisser opponents... We the (often) silent spectators brace ourselves for the muck slinging and name calling that is sure to follow.

in #401, the ``believe it or not`` was not for the basement of someone`s home, but for the barnyard.

hamidm #387 You ask: what kind of message do you think you are sending to the natives you when a couple of hundred men line up in the grand ball room of the hyatt with shoes spilling out into the corridor and the women huddled in a corner ?
First, I think it doesnt matter what kind of a message one is sending to anyone when doing something. What matters is whether one is doing the right thing to begin with. And I see nothing wrong with saying prayers as long as it does not intrude upon anyone privacy ( through use of loudspeakers e.g.), and as long as they clean up any mess afterwards.
Second, I have seen muslims get together to say prayers in the oddest places - basketball courts of community colleges, church rooms, community centers, a school cafeteria, and (believe it or not), the basement of someone`s home, a barnyard where I distinctly remembered seeing some nice fattened pigs displayed during a county fair the year before :-). And of course regular mosques too.
I have never heard of anyone finding this objectionable, since these prayers are said without the use of loudspeakers (those being quite rightly not allowed by local authorities), and in fact are facilitated by the local community (through making space available) and authorities (police assigned to ease the flow of traffic to mosque grounds on eid days, e.g.). The most interesting was the use of their church that priests obligingly allowed muslims to use. These very muslims would never dream, once they have a mosque, of permitting a non-muslim to use it to conduct their religious ceremonies!! And in Pakistan of course the apes are too busy blowing up each other`s mosques in Pakistan to think of sharing them with one another, let alone with non-muslims.
So, hope this answers your question.

tahmed,
Accept it. You have lost all credibility on Chowk. Noone believes you anymore. They tried to listen but you don`t make any sense. Everyone makes fun of you. You were reduced to befriending the likes of Arjun_M`s in desperation because he was the only one who spoke with you, but who has also been banished. So, you are isolated. You haven`t even been able to convince hamidm who at-least has faux TV convictions. You don`t even have those. Noone really knows what it is exactly that you stand for.
I suspect it is nothing. You don`t stand for anything. Just time-pass.
So, I withdraw my offer. Get lost.

And that ``But`` was ...
But try not to be callous towards bombings of innocent Muslims (....) It is inhuman to do so.
You don`t agree with that?

zeemax #393 You say ``deal``, and then added a ``but...`` with some gratuitous piece of nonsense which I wont dignify with a comment.
I know this is hard - but try stick to your part of the ``deal`` if you want me to stick to my part.

And when did any Arab country surrender? Just curious ...
#396 Posted by zeemax on September 17, 2006 1:34:13 am
ABCD_macaca,
You should read the text of the surrender agreements of the Arab countries
Sure. Reproduce these. However I`ll reproduce 1000 years of sodomizing of Indian sub-continent by the same Arabs/Afghanis/Persians .....
and not too good looking either
I can understand that coming from a funny-face macaca.
this suicidal and monkey-like behaviour
They actually eat your monkey brains in your neighbor China with soup spoons when it`s still alive .....
...about sexual conquests etc.
Hindnis etc were just weekend disposables ... they stank anyway and kept asking for cigarettes when I didn`t smoke. The Swiss and the French were the regulars.
You can fix the size problem - there are drugs available nowadays.
Really? Well never needed those but since you have information on it, must have done you some good.
Now go jump up and down ... macaca.

What else could the Poop say quoting from a defeated byzantine? But if you insist, I have this to say ...
Although the Vatican is trying to downplay this as a mere faux pas, the intention is obvious in helping Bush in his rhetoric in an increasingly unpopular war-on-terror.
But I wonder why this pope`s early predecessor Leo 1, who used to call Attila the Hun the `scourge of God`, instead said the following to him groveling at his feet when the same Attila was standing at Rome`s doors:
``The senate and the people of Rome, once conquerors of the world, now indeed vanquished, come before thee as suppliants. We pray for mercy and deliverance. O Attila, thou king of kings, thou couldst have no greater glory than to see suppliant at thy feet this people before whom once all peoples and kings lay suppliant. Thou hast subdued, O Attila, the whole circle of the lands which it was granted to the Romans, victors over all peoples, to conquer. Now we pray that thou, who hast conquered others, shouldst conquer thyself The people have felt thy scourge; now as suppliants they would feel thy mercy.``
History repeats itself.
Happy macaca? No go jump up and down .... ]
You seem to be pretty shameless. You forgot the last time I slapped you senseless.
You should read the text of the surrender agreements of the Arab countries that thought they were man enough to stand up to the Jews. :))
All this macaca business. I can understand the deep seated inferiority complex you suffer from, being descended from the product of a rape (maybe multiple rapes). Also, you most certainly are ugly as sin (like most Pakis) - which is why you lied your way out of not posting a discernable photograph of your ugly mug. And from all the rhetoric against dark-skinned Indians, I am willing to bet that you are darker than the average Paki cricketer (most of whom are dark-skinned Pakis - and not too good looking either).
Actually, the whole world considers you Pakis to be Taliban monkeys. Instead of all this jumping up and down, try to do something constructive - stop all this inbreeding and incest amongst your people. I think the resulting low Paki IQ is responsible for all this suicidal and monkey-like behaviour.
And another thing. You should see a psychiatrist about your sexual malfunction problem (ED). Or are you just tiny with self-esteem problems? :D It`s obvious from your stories about sexual conquests etc. They sound like the stories little school kids tell each other.
You can fix the size problem - there are drugs available nowadays. :) Take it easy, zeemax beta. Just stop obsessing about it and jumping up and down like a monkey as if you have something to prove. :))

Hamidm, your main objections are as follows:
1) Beards: Would you support fazloo if he shaved it off?
2) Hygiene: Imran Khan`s views are MORE radical..i.e. Taliban style. And he doesn`t smell.
3) Women hating: Are you kidding? Again the above example.
4) Pig/Dog hating: Nopes. Former was banned because of nothing else than your HYGIENE stuff, and the latter is not banned ... its just that they scare away angels .. but I don`t mind. I`ve had pet dogs all my life ... even champion breeds. Man`s best friends.
5) Namaz: Would you still object if everyone ran off to watch the superbowl instead?
6) Women/Namaz: Mrs Hamidm is right. Many maulvis say Namaz is not `jayez` with nail-polish, lipstick etc ... I don`t know why that should be so. But women are certainly not going to hell because of that.
BUT ... your own bigotry and naked misogyny is transparent
in your `periods` remark!!!
However your principal objection is beards. Consider the following:
Which one would you fear most?

Zee, you better turn it over.
Give me back my 10 percent, this very minute!
Or else!
Or else, what?!
Or else, I will grab it from Kaal or this Swarrier guy. They don’t need it anyway – they already have plenty left over.
(So. how is that “Bring Back the Versey!” aandolan coming along?!)
And while I am going strong, here is one for you, DM-jee!
Na, na, na, na, naa, naa….!

Speaking of mullhas and popes - here is an interesting event: this brit priest guy did ganesh puja and ``parish authorities`` are threatening to ``disrobe`` him...

``Hart, a professor of theology and religious studies at University of Winchester, says: ``I celebrated Ganesha puja with the same piety and devotion with which I celebrate the Eucharist or namaz.`` His actions, after these were reported in the British media, stirred a hot debate in UK and US, with pressure mounting on parish to disrobe him as a priest of the Church of England.``...

hamidm: you write ``n case you dindn`t notice, most good muslims have already surrendered without so much as a whimper``
I think that does injustice to the millions of Pakistanis who refuse to surrender either Pakistan or Islam to the scoundrels. These are univormed politicians and bearded politicians trying to make deals over who gets to rule over Pakistan - and nothing more. The average Pakistani is much better than the scum that has risen to the surface.
As for saying prayers together - I dont see a problem with that. But if you dont want to, you certainly have a right not to join in (and I have seen people do that in Pakistani parties and no one is bothered by that).

So on that positive note, here is wishing you a good weekend and look forward to chatting with you in future on chowk. :-)

And I do not agree with you that most of them are `fine people`. I will tell you `who` amongst `them` are fine people in at-least poltical discussions. There are of-course many others like Rajesh, Harish Nambiar in others:
1) Kaalchakra
2) Swarrier
3) BJ Kumar (90%)
4) Dost-Mittar (50%)
5) And that`s all.
If you can think of anyone else, please enlighten me who is not a bigot.

and please dont call all indians ``macacas`` either if you are writing to me. if one of them is ridiculing ``pakis`` and you feel the urge to get back to him - by all means. But lets not make this a habit - overusing a term and applying it to all Indians (most of whom are fine people as far as I can tell) is not the way.
and I in fact used the term ``monkey-man`` for arjun years before george allen used something similar that you and HP jumped on to use (talk about taking the cue from a gora!!). but at least i used it only for limited and focussed use :-) as described above.

hamidm #370 granted that the Hadood Laws are proof of the evil and oppression of the weak that is conducted in the name of Islam. But are you ready to surrender to these scum your right to be a good human being and at the same time consider yourself to be living the life of a good muslim?
These mullah apes can rob the weakest members of Pakistani society - namely women from poor familites - of that last bit of dignity of womanhood that is left to women in a primitive society like Pakistan, i.e. the right to be protected by society from physical assault. But these animals can never touch their souls, and they can never be considered muslims. Are we going to surrender both Islam and Pakistan to these animals?

[hamidm: Beg to differ again - contrary to what you say, the Quran in fact makes it your responsibility as an individual to think and act in a rational manner. ]
Yes, that would be true IF you cherry pick and ONLY take a few suras AND ``interpret`` them to your liking. Otherwise, the facts are blatantly obvious to anyone reading the Quran
- volumes and volumes of suras exhorting Muslims to unconditionally submit to the will of Allah (read Muhammad) and NOT TO QUESTION his words - OR ELSE.
However, a newly revised Quran free of this stuff (that you say doesn`t exist in the Quran) would be a welcome change for all of humanity.

....there is a reason why many people who deeply value liberalism have jettisoned blind liberalism...
And what is that? Do elaborate.
Like other religions, Islam has some unique strengths and special gifts, and like other religions, it has some unique weaknesses and special flaws. These flaws are simply too deep and too all-encompassing...
You`re getting there, but not quite. I won`t call these `flaws` but a radically different concept of nature of things from anything else which is rarely fully understood. When Pope quoted ````Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new``, he really didn`t know what he was talking about. There was certainly nothing new in the biblical stories repeated in Quran, but everything else was brand new and remains so.
Let me give you an example to ponder over the weekend. The Pope quoted ``Muhammad had brought the world only `evil and inhuman` things`` thereby implying use of the sword being somehow contrary to God`s nature. Let`s take `evil` for the moment..
In Christianity, Devil is the central embodiment of evil and an enemy of God and a powerful entity in its own right. In Islam the Devil has no power other than the power to discourage humans from obeying God; for God is supreme over all his creations and Devil is just one of his creations. See the difference?
If you grasp this, as I`m sure you would, we`ll take it on from there.

hamidm #357 I dont think Ratzinger nailed it on the head at all. All he did was prove what I have always said on chowk - mullahs are parasites who feed off religion, and all they can do is squabble with one another about whose religion is better. He just proves that whether it is mullah fazloo or mullah pope - they are no different.
Organized Religion in the west and Religious Organizations in Pakistan are about politics, about money, about immorality hiding behind beards and robes. They are the opposite of what religion is all about.

Hamidm,
The Pope was factually incorrect. These people are bitter about Islam`s vast conquests, nothing else, and crib whenever given the chance.
Even though the territories were obviously conquered with sword, the populations were never converted by force. If it had been so, there would be no christians left in Spain, nor any Hindus in India. Or did they all hastily convert back after end of Muslim rule?
Always remember the timespan available to Muslim rulers to use their swords: 800 years in the first instance and a thousand in the second!

the pope nails it on the head
``The decisive statement in this argument against violent conversion is this: not to act in accordance with reason is contrary to God`s nature. The editor, Theodore Khoury, observes: For the emperor, as a Byzantine shaped by Greek philosophy, this statement is self-evident. But for Muslim teaching, God is absolutely transcendent. His will is not bound up with any of our categories, even that of rationality.``
........ and this quite evident from the rantings and ravings of muslim `intellectuals` like masadi and their wild-eyed followers in the streets of peshawar ............

Your views are honorable and brave, and deserve a full-throated: ``Bravo, press on!`` from even an ex-liberal.
On the other hand, there is a reason why many people who deeply value liberalism have jettisoned blind liberalism of as late as a decade earlier.
re: Godot # 330
I do have a somewhat different take on this matter: Various religions are fundamentally different from one another. A good-hearted liberal person, a universalist, who wishes to find good everywhere can find different religions complementary, but religions surely differ radically in their emphasis and orientation. Each religion has its enormous strengths and great weaknesses. Like other religions, Islam has some unique strengths and special gifts, and like other religions, it has some unique weaknesses and special flaws. These flaws are simply too deep and too all-encompassing to be erased by the balm of interpretationism, and require thorough internal restructuring. Of course, what one person considers weaknesses may be precisely what someone else considers great strengths and vice versa. That`s probably what lies at the root of all religious conflict - not simply innocent misunderstanding.

#354 uba: That is a very perceptive definition indeed. As they say in panjabi ``pehlay mooN dho, phaer gal kar!!`` That is, first wash your face, then talk.

One interesting definition of RELIGION
RELIGION of a person = What that person does when he/she is Alone ! (and believes that
nobody else is watching him/her``

[Yo pakis - I heard the Pope has called Mo[pubh] a bad person who brought violence and bloodshed... What do you guys have to say about that?...
Zeemax Mian - are you getting ready with the suicide vest?...]
mohar,
I hear Muslims have staged violent demonstrations around the world. Some have threatened death to anyone who dares to wrongly accuse Islam of being a violent religion.
:)

A big slap on the face of United Satan......
Cuba, an honourable and courageous little country which has not only bloodied and thrashed US in 1962 ( when so many marines who landed on the island were dispatched to hell)
and US nose rubbed in dirt.
This little nation of brave people have walked tall. Not like our uniformed Langoors of cantonements and uninformed Baboons in civil lines who would stoop to anything to please the gora master.
128 countries participated , even India..were any baboons & Langoors there? I doubt it very much. THey are busy promoting vulgarity & vices and fancy themselves as maadrate
and maadren.
LaanUt on the Langoors.

US, Israel, Vanuatu, Marshall Islands, Tuvalu and Godot want the owners to negotiate for getting the servant quarters back after the Qabza Group took over their house.

bskhan writes <<< The root of all the troubles are the Paki Islamists and these terror masters like HP and the ideological propagandists like Masadi. They create the propaganda trying to obliterate the difference between State-Deterrence the Terrorist Killings by the Jehadis . By doing so they seek to ``legitimatize`` the ultimate Islamist agenda of terrorising liberals into submisssion to THEIR will - which they claim is the will of the almighty!!! >>>
`Mirasi speak`. The Mirasi mentality understands the destruction of entire countries, like the US invasion of Iraq as ``state deterrence``, while any attempt to resist such invasion, regardless of the religious outlook of the resistor is termed `terrorist killing`. If my will was the `will of the almighty` then for sure BS khan would be shoveling dung somewhere and not dirtying this thread. What weakens the liberals is the agenda and the ensuing cycle set in place by the higher and petty terrorists, everything gets shoved to the background as they enact their drama center stage, with dung shovelers like bs khan parroting their mythology.

Godot,
Is Pakistan interested in a solution to Kashmir that’s not on its 100% terms?
1948: Pakistan demands UN plebiscite in all of Kashmir
1990: Pakistan wants Kashmir-resolution as precondition to normal bilateral relations.
1997: Pakistan agrees to composite dialogue instead of Kashmir-centric dialogue
2004: Pakistan drops the 50-year old UN plebiscite demand
2005: Pakistan proposes dividing Kashmir into 7 regions & determining status of each.
Pakistan doesn`t want a solution 100% on its terms.
Pakistan only wants a solution that`s acceptable to the Kashmiris. Period.

Godot,
Again, my argument is that economic development of even a “moth-eaten” Palestinian State is a far better solution than continuous cycle of violence for which Palestinians are paying too heavy a price.
You may have point there. Assuming ofcourse the Israeli govt of the day doesn`t have a sudden mood change. Are you prepared to trust an entire nation to the whims of a war-mongering, self-righteous people?
I guess we are coming from diametrically opposed security frameworks. Your position is that appeasement & economic prosperity leads to mutual security. My position is that only a balance of power leads to mutual security.
You are speaking Wilsonian idealism. I am speaking Cardinal Richeleu.

Godot,
The objective is to give the Palestinians a country and make their lives better, provide them with butter not guns.
Respectfully sir, ``butter without guns`` work only in utopia. In the real world, your neighbor will snatch your butter if you don`t have any guns. Weakness attracts aggression.
Some examples from 20th century...
Ethiopia (1935)
Nanking (1937)
Palestine (1948)
Afghanistan (1979)
Iran (1980)
Lebanon (1982)
Kuwait (1990)
Bosnia (1992)
Iraq (2004)
Lebanon (2006)
