These events in recent days are very signigficant:
1) Hugo Chavez and Ahmedinejad`s clear alliance and country rounds.
2) The non-aligned summit in Havana with 121 countries in attendance.
3) The open defiance of US, condemnation of security council, and open abuse by Chavez of Bush on General Assembly floor accompanied with clapping at each insult.
These are not minor events to be dismissed off-hand. Even Bolton looks worried.
I think a ball has begun to roll. The focus has now shifted from an East-West issue to one of North-South ... just as it must be.
God Speed!

Re: # 75 GT {``...If you are right, then it would really be interesting. Hope someone does some research on this. But till then, allow me to remain skeptical...``}
A very valid and reasonable stance. I share the same hope (that someone will do more research and put forth facts in easy reach) with you.
Cheers,

#99 but echoboom - chavez is all talk no action.
barring a few things here and there - he has not done one thing which really and seriously troubles Corporate America.
You are the one who needs some serious education.

Re: # 73 SR
I used the phrase `obscure history`` for want of a better description of the phenomenon that is called US dealing with Nazis. This history is pretty much alive and well, and I even have seen at least one documentry on PBS on this issue. What I in fact wanted to say was that even though this history is alive and well, and well known in the circles but it is not a political issue at this time, nor it is on anyone`s political agenda. Based on this fact, my point, was that, that US, which itself was an aparthied country for all intent and purpose until very well into `60s could not have a problem dealing with Nazis on ideological or moral basis. The fact that it was Germany that declared war on US and not the other way around, and even then it took US government one year to pass an Act prohibiting business with Nazis have a whole plathora of meanings. And despite this ban some business kept on dealing with Nazis and were fined minimally as the website at the bottom suggests. The original role of concentration camps as death camps was not discovered until at the very end of the war when Soviet forces liberated some of these camps. The phenomenon of holocaust as a moral justification for the existence of Israel, did not emerge on American political landscape until well after the occupation of Isreal took place in 1948.
Even on internet there are over 8 million websites that shed light on the US business dealings with Nazis, in one way or the other. But my point was that even though Jewish organizations have successfully sued a multitude of European businesses, yet they have never sued an American corporation. Why? Even when this level of detail is available in public domain:

Now, now, no need for strong language, please!
You see Dick, Zee was confusing you with a certain banned interactor.
When one is too focused on another, one sees the other everywhere – even where they don’t exist! Not the first time it has happened around here, of course. Hence, Zee’s apparent hostile welcome to you! But I think he is reassured now.
Everybody other than Dick, do not read the following line.
Psst...he is a softie inside!
Okay, back to everybody now.
Let’s not have any revolts in THIS paradise.
That would be revolting, no?!!!
I think the Gillster just does not like the GWB. He keeps on beating him up over trivialities. So, where do the Aussies fit in?!!

Re: # 89
the clamourous nature of the dsire to want to know the antecedants of people is ridiculous.
Who are you? What is your introduction? Where of and the why fors please?
Zeemax is a kuttiya - a cheapdo insaan. However, even cheapdo like him have a right to an existence etc. Maybe he should also tell us who he is?
Me, my name is Richard Haider Strang from down under (just moved there). Nothing more than a humble student with some time on my hand. Apparently a guy called Haider or somebody was a hero in the family. So there.

[Have you dropped your demand of introductions from Mr. Macaca? Now you`re appeasing him.]
No appeasement whatsoever!
Alas, strongman Dick, the chowkies hardly know ya!
I repeat.
Go ahead Dick, introduce yourself to the Zee – like he asks!
What kind of Dick are you – is what he earnestly wishes to learn.
