All of this is good and well. But there is a genuine ostrich syndrome in the muslim world. The same chucklheads who burn KFC`s in response to stupid cartoons depicting Mohammed in bad light...quietly sit idly by when a terrorist group named Jaish E MOHAMMED blows up innocent people. As if to condone the islam based violence. Until the muslim world gets its collective heads out of their asses, no amount of delineation of islam from violence is going to help.

[it even opposed the worshipping of Muhammad or other saints and praying at tombs.]
...which islam allows worshipping of humans..be it mohammad or ali...?
[Later Zia al Haq made a Madrassa education necessary for army recruitment.]
...hahahaha...i am sure you have a solid source...like RAW...;)

Khamay, a little bit of sarcasm is lost on a whole lot of Muslims.
Chaltahi, I thoroughly agree with you, as always. However, I feel that there are enough sane voices in the Muslim world, but sadly, they are publicly quiet due mainly to “intimidation” and often times downright persecution. Many dissidents in Europe and US are in hiding. It is not easy to speak up my dear. So I wouldn’t say that all Ummah has his head buried up their collective ass. If the opportunity to speak up is available, some of us do take advantage of it.
Your Brother in Islam, Kulharee

I am beginning to think that Since, neocolonilists and neo-crusaders in US and West, Hindus, and aadhay Hindus all vehemently denounce Wahabism, then it must be really good for Muslims.

OH, No. You are back again!
Now you say,``..People find it hard to understand why so few educated Muslims speak up against Jihadi fanaticism...``
Why should educated Muslims not do anything about this hijacking? Fallen asleep when the entire Muslim world is in astate of being bescized surrounded and humiliated by enemies?

Why should educated Muslims speak up against fanaticism? You see what kinda treatment was given to Van Gogh and how Irshad Manji would not step out without security, and how there are bounties on Taslima Nasreen’s head and how Rushdie goes out in a Burka. You still want Muslims to speak up against it?
You guys should watch HBO movie tonight to get a real picture of how a Jihadi’s mind works.

Yaar author, the problem seems to be that you guys are rather too quick to radicalize – upon the slightest of excuses.
You all prefer to radicalize rather than do anything constructive to try to solve some very REAL problems that you got – especially with the women folks – problems with which you are quite happy – be you uneducated or highly “educated”!
It is difficult to buy that excuse about the lack of education and of being poor – tonnes of people around the globe got those same issues but don’t go about “radicalizing” at such lightning speeds in such a knee-jerk fashion!
And it is another tendency among many of you to avoid even looking at these issues - instead making the arguments - like you do here - ``if you do this and that for us.... maybe we will improve``.
Hey, why does the rest of the world owe you ANYTHING?!!! If you improve your lot, it is for your own benefit - so go do it without asking to be rewarded for making the effort!

Oh God! Why us Muslims burry our head in the religiosity and Mullahs. OK Wahabis are extremists. However their version of Islam is simply a tribal version that is well suited for the deserts of Arabia.
Urbanite Muslims however need to get out of this religion bashing and take care of their economy. Extreme forms of religion thrive when people are suffering from stagnant economy over many decades.
The only economic fix most Muslims come up with is to institute socialist policies based on the non-existent concept of welfare state. This results in further deterioration of society and even bigger stranglehold of religion and Mullahs.
So Mr. Baig, quit bashing religion and try opening up economy. Mullahs only mind keeping their beards in halwa. They will get busy in that habit as soon as our economy quits using socialist clutches.

Re: # 8
I know lots of Muslims who speak aginst fanaticism but only in whispers. Atleast it is preferable than not talking at all. Every Faith of mankind is man made and has darker facets. So we all have a responsibilityto criticise this uglier side. Others have done it and why not Muslims?

Urstruly Sahib,
I am requesting all people to be careful in speaking out against cancer, AIDS, pornography, pedophilia, murder, and rape - lest you get the impression that, like Wahabism, all these curses are really good for us poor Muslims.
