Re: # 9
i am not the author of this poem.
and i was just giving my opinion, like everyone else
for me the last line is perfect the way it is, and i dont care for what science has to say about the composition of the color black.
u seem confused.
chill dude.

touching!

Your petty world I refuse to accept
For your rainbows have no black

For your colours are simple seven
And my rainbow even has a black

Very touching!

Re: # 8 I don`t think anybody intended to `batter your poetry to fit his mould`. The sole purpose of these forums is to discuus and opine on whatever is published, and that`s exactly what has been done here. Even if someone is brutally castigating, try to take it in the right spirit and it will certianly help you blossom as a writer.
take it easy.

the best thing about poetry is that it follows no rules, so even if scientifically black was a lack of color, it can be a mix of colors in a poetry.
best not to batter a poem to make it fit your mould, and for me the last line is perfect with `even`.
`only` would totally change the meaning.

Re: # 6
Well, I still say that it depends on the perspective. The difference is between mixing of lights (additive color mixing) vs. mixing of pigments, dyes, or paints (subtractive color mixing). Scientifically, white may be the ultimate mix of all the lights, but in a palette, a mixture of different paints yield black (Check out the subtractive color wheel). Yep, uncertainty, I say.

Re: # 5 BJ was right there; scientifically speaking, black is actually the absence of any color, while it`s white which is the ultimate mix of all colors, and I think that holds emotionally too. And then there`s the gray, the mix of black and white; you can`t really tell if it`s the lack of color or the excess thereof - uncertainty?

Re: # 4
Depends on the perspective/ mood.

``You realize, of course, that black results from the absence of any colors``
Black, to me, is the ultimate mix of all the colors.

``And when black takes over - one can see nothing but darkness. Never any light.``
In fact, the dimmest light appears bright against darkness, just like my favorite colors look their best when paired with black.

``The endless, hopeless darkness of night!``
Darkness is never ``endless or hopeless``. The ``darkness of night`` is always followed by light (a fact of life, not a mere perspective).

``The colors are the reality - the darkness is on the inside. It is man-made.``
I agree to an extent, but what is on the inside is also a part of reality. The colors are reality, all of them, including black.

You realize, of course, that black results from the absence of any colors.

And when black takes over - one can see nothing but darkness. Never any light.

A state of absolute blindness in which one can only grope.

The endless, hopeless darkness of night!

The colors are the reality - the darkness is on the inside. It is man-made. Condemning others is futile.

Gothic poet? I wonder what ghalib would say about `desi gothic poets`.

Your poem is not good. I did not enjoy reading it aloud. Please continue writing humor.

Nice. Hoping to read more from u (poems, that is:)
Shobig_sifar`s suggestion regarding the last verse is brilliant; changing just the one word would add a lot more depth to it.

Very nice! This element of defiance makes up an essential part of perhaps every literature and abundantly enhances the appeal of the latter.
The last verse, in my humble opinion, would fit in better if that `even` was substituted with `only`.
Keep them coming.
