Another tip: Drive through Red Lights, but when you come to a Green Lights made sure you come to a complete stop. This is so you dont crash into like-minded ladies and gentlemen who are driving through the Red Light on their side. :-)

• Forget the...rear mirror.
• I have noticed that women while driving look too nervous and make faces like meek dolls - big NO NO. Stay relaxed.
Perhaps karachi women can kill two birds.
Turn the rearview mirror so you can check on your own face as you drive :)

It`s not just karachi- female drivers in Lahore could do with a couple of lessons in self-confidence too!!!!
A moron I once knew said that the most hillarious thing in the world was slamming into a female`s car. His explanation- `` they look like scared babies, step out and actually hand over the keys!``
C`mon women- GET A LIFE.

All seemingly sound advice. But if NYC streets are anything like Karachi and Lahore (and I`d dare say we have a sizeable pop from those cities behind the wheel in NYC, driving defensively is one worthwhile strategy. You can`t rely on the ukps around you, but as the author points out, you can rely on yourself to make rational driving decisions. Also, make sure you have some kick ass music playing whenever you are on the road-be it Abida Parveen or Shakira...

If you follow any of these `rules`, you are going to end up in
hospital, or worse. Driving on the streets of Karachi is now a
science, not an art. A test of nerves and human psychology.
And lately, it`s become a rather hostile place for gal drivers.
Let me give you an example. On my last visit, I was driving
back from Cantt Station Karachi. Near the mazaar, I saw a
middle-aged woman who had just picked her son from school,
hit the brakes upon seeing the speed-breaker, prompting the
scooter behind her to bump into her car. The guy stepped-off
his bike and walked over to the driver`s side. The two exchanged
some verbal volleys after which the guy punched the woman
in the jaw --and just like in the movies-- I saw her face flatten,
twist and sent reeling back into the headrest. She was stunned,
dazed and speechless. Like Mohammad Ali, after the Spinks
fight.
I saw her young son stepping out the other side to have a
few with the guy. Since I was on the other side and traffic
was piling up behind me, I had to move on. The most disheart-
ening thing for me, was that of all the people gathered round
(buswallahs, motorists, shopkeepers) none of them moved an
inch to save the honor of the lady driver. They all watched and
grinned, hoping for some bloodshed, I suppose. Shameful.
So, while we can laugh and joke about women being aggressive
and not looking in the rear view mirror... the samaraat (fruits)
of such a practice can be quite an eye opener (or closer).

Yet another attempt to portray karachi as yet another place where the issue is male vs female drivers. Take it from me, the female driver, what is unique about karachi is car jacking. Look at the numbers, how many cars are stolen at gun point, how many are simply stolen.
That is the true karachi, that is the central issue and all this theft is done by the jihadis to fund the afghan war.
talk about that my female driver, talk about the solution to that, and that would be helpful. Pl do not try to make karachi yet another city, it is pak city, it where the jihadis come roost.

if there is a men driving honk once .. if there is a women driving honk twise.
its though feel like gender biased but it is so true on streets .. exception do exsist i have seen some very confident female drivers to top the list is my kiddo sis and my ex ..
who dont mind overtaking or honk you back thrice and at very ease while driving .. i do admit they are better drivers then me ..
but mostly the women drivers on karachi streets are hazzards to there cars and to the one`s whom they bang into ..

Now come on!! We already got enough dare-devil drivers on our roads, and now here you are teaching your trade to others, who have in no inclination of being one.
My message to you is: GET OFF OUR ROADS...KAPEESH ;-))

@ leemarse:
It`s the way things are so be it. YOU, jealous, aren`t you???
Now...don`t repeat the same folklore of blaming the system and talk about making things [traffik] alright... my confessions focus on how I moved from goody-good to **Evilish female driver in the presence of all-men world on streets. I swear, i feel pity for meek-fearish females on streets.
For Pak, chavinism is the word!! DISAGREE??

Nice reading.
I am not good at pararell parking. But some how I manage to do it without hiting any one.
Men usually try to make fun, who bother for them.

OH PUR-LEEEEEEEEEEEEZ!!! Enough of this ``evil Paki``, ``evil Muslim`` s**t! If you have an issue with Pakistan, I don`t mind you saying whatever you want about it... but keep it to relevant topics, ok? This article, if you bothered to read beyond the fact it was based on Karachi, is about DRIVING!!!
JUST WHERE did Jihad come in?

#12 Please dont try to reason with this freak - he has been at it for years on chowk, as have about a third of the Indians who come to chowk. Just thank your stars you need only put up with these freaks on chowk. :-)

UC this is the tragedy on chowk, everything becomes jihadi. Some of them are so much in to this baiting thing that they have lost their minds completely and they don`t realise, if, this makes sense or not. tsk, tsk, tsk.

Women are bad drivers. Point. (And this is not a sexist statement at all). Like, almost all Indians at chowk have some sort of paranoia due to which every ``interact`` they put on chowk has got to end up with Islam-bashing. What`s credible is, though, that without reading the article, they somehow find a relationship between the title and jihadis and/or talebans. Women being bad drivers and Indians being bad interactors are universal truths which cannot be denied or even argued upon.
Coming back to the female drivers, I think the root of the problem lies with the fact that a large proportion of women (mind you, not all) can never be confident of anything except their beauty and charms and the same goes for their driving (now, this might be a sexist statement). Confidence is the key. It`s just a wheel and the lives of a handful of people that is in their hands so what`s the big deal !!!

I am afraid of women driver as I walk and they drive. Even on footpath I have to be careful and fast as being on right path is not good as they can overrun on me in right path.
There only type of women drivers some are aggressive and rest are passive aggressive. I like women drivers from long distance.
