Higher education like education at other levels was born with congenital defect in India. I would not be surprised if a great education centre will arise from some sort of renaissance movement which does not cower under mainstream or popular alternative systems. You cannot go on doing same thing again and again and hope for a new thing suddenly born out of it.

Cut the crap about Christianity`s take on Apostasy. And, just to clue you in to Comparative Religion 101, ``knowledgeable and believing Christians`` do not follow the Old Testament. There`s this thing called the New Testament that has these things called Gospels which they take as, well, gospel.

Also, just to keep you clued in, I would hit any Christian on the head too, for suggesting, like you, that apostasy should be punished by death. It`s a good thing there are no Christian, or Jew shariah-like states, where you have such draconian, demonic laws and so-called `educated` idiots like yourself terming them `reasonable`! yukkk, thHHoooo!

Not that I am a Christian anyway, so you need to try some other form of evasive tactic next time.

Quran also discusses possibility of an apostate reverting back to Islam, thus making it clear that there is no room for killing an apostate.

Quran refers to itself as ``The Criterion``, agreed. That is, if one sees a contradiction between Quran and existing teachings of Torah/Bible, Quranic injunctions supersede those of other scriptures for a Muslim (ahem, ahem). Arguably, at least for a Muslim, text of earlier scriptures has been changed beyond recognition. This explains why Quran calls itself “The Criterion” even as it refers to truthfulness of what was revealed to earlier prophets.

It really is that simple. You are trying to override Quran with earlier scriptures. It should be the other way around. Once again you`ve got the whole thing backwards (pun intended).

First of all no knowledgeable and believing Christian would or should raise a question about apostasy when Bible in no uncertain terms not only defines the apostasy but prescribes the worldly punishment in absolutely clear terms:

Deuteronomy 13:6-10:

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which [is] as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; [Namely], of the gods of the people which [are] round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the [one] end of the earth even unto the [other] end of the earth; Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.[13]


Please keep in mind that Qura`n calls itself ``the Criterion`` to judge what was the original message of Torah, Psalm and Bible and what were the additions and exceptions made in it by Christians and Jews later on. Qura`n condemns apostasy in no uncertain terms and Holy Prophet (pbuh) have explained the verses in Qura`n and continued the punishment prescribed by Old Testament, quoted above. Making ones religion a buffet religion to make it suit your lifetyle and not turning your lifestyle according to your religion has brought both Judaism and Christianity to this level that the people who are most ashamed of these religions are those who claim to be adherents of those.

Isn`t it what new Testament had predicted, i.e. the Apostasy before Rapture called the Apostasy of the Church``. Don`t you realize that prophecy has fulfilled itsef?
