behramji, i cant speak for everyone, but being a PE was generally not in the plans for most indians showing-up in the US. they aspired to be rocket-scientist, to do cutting-edge research, startups, hi-tech ventures etc...some succeeded, and some cut code while making good money for arjuns charts. we have our borthers stuck in industries like construction (bechtel, one of the largest was prolly 30% indian engg), but that was never considered as the frontier of human endevour. for pakis like you a PE and a state-board license to practice is indeed high achievement, you stand tall amongst your other brothers and many kudos to you. hamid also talks of another great achiever like you who has a lawn-sprinkler installation bussiness, a very successful guy who also has a certification from ASS (association of sprinkler systems). we leave our small bussiness to our patels...they are far more talented than our engineers and they pretty much control hotels, subways and quiznos.

so in summary, your state-license is a great achievement, as is written in the holy book, each to his own, and do you have a bussiness card with Er. as a title? you should scan and post it here so we can all admire it.

As far as your Engineering Institutions are concerned, I agree IIT and Nehru University are in top 200 World University ranking. However for a billion people. It adds up to 500 million people for one ``top 200`` institution. (Gee I cower from your success). So the chances of you making in those institutions is ........... ohhh I`m sorry 700 million cant even buy food let alone study so they dont count.

Dont worry nincompoop, by the time Pak will reach 500 million population, we will have one there I promise. Infact sooner. Much sooner.

For those from hindoo land, this argument started with a hindoo claiming that the engineering curriculum in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is not to world standards. This assertion from the autistic bunch of hindoos that argue incessantly on this chowk was proven not to be true.

But, being autistic is a disease that the hindoos have, and it is medically impossible to have a cure for this bunch. Their arguments have consistently shown that they have nothing new to offer. Indians on average do not make more than Pakistani engineers. Actually, in our state those without a professional engineers license can not legally claim that they are engineers. This legality should come as a shock to those who are employed in large corporations and/or the university. If they are not registered as a professional engineer, then legally they can not use the title of an engineer.

Ab aeye baat sumach main, eh!

This goes further to prove that those of us who are in the private sector as an engineering consultant (for the most part, compared to Indians it is the Pakistanis) can only legally call ourselves as engineers.

But, autism is a debilitating disease that a lot of people from Hindoo Land suffer, maybe over 25% some would say?

Arjun2, whoever you are, this article was never related to Pak Vs India comparison. Howver i doubt your mind inside a 5` 4`` dark stature will be able to comprehend the subject at hand.

As far as your stats are concerned, there are a billion+ of you, Plaguing the planet. Apparently contraceptives are something unheard of in your ``holy mother`` land. A couple of thousand engineers out of a billion people and he sings like a canary. I pity the 700 million people living in India below $2 a day. Go shove your GREAT INDIA talk to them, as far as I know for them the sun doesn`t shine.

And by the way, Pak per capita has always ramained above India`s, go check the latest figures out for the year 2006. Moron.

I know reality makes pakis unhinged, but here`s a list of MIT Tech Review`s Top innovators under 35.

Now I understand pakis, most of whom are cab drivers or 7/11 cashiers, wouldn`t have heard of the TR35....but most people outside the paki echo-chamber of self-delusion have heard of it...

Median means squat...It only means Indians are making more, pakis are making less...and that pakis are dragging down the median..

The income figures from the census clearly bear that out...

``the ``tens of thousands`` of paki engineers clearly aren`t making much...``

Yes you are right. Not much... only as much as the Indians... according to this article: http://www.elecdesign.com/Articles/Index.cfm?AD=1&ArticleID=2864

Another change for EEs over the years, according to the IEEE-USA survey, is that Asian-American IEEE members have the highest median incomes ($99,000), non-Hispanic, white members are at $93,000, and others (usually engineers or computer scientists from India, Pakistan, or the Middle East) have medians of $92,100.

Manto...no amount of self-deluding is going to change the simple fact...anyone who has worked in silicon valley or microsoft or amazon knows that the number of indian engineers working there are far far greater than the odd paki engineer. Your claim of 1-100 paki engineers is laughable at it`s face...

Almost everyone has heard of the IIT but hardly anyone has heard of any paki engineering school that can come close..

Face it manto

NRI-promoted tech startups score on patents

Bibhu Ranjan Mishra in Mumbai | November 14, 2006 11:17 IST

High-tech startups, promoted by people of Indian origin, are doing serious development work in India. A few have their sales teams too based out of India, thus writing the final death sentence of distance.

Take the case of the $150 million (fiscal 2006) Rambus Chip Technologies, headquartered in California. A developer of chip-to-chip interface technology with 400 developers located at its centres in the US, Taiwan, Japan, China and Korea, apart from India, its MD, Prakash Bare, says: ``We have a small capacity with a huge impact in the electronics industry as we focus on how to make chips talk to each other in very high speed.``

The company, that is going to power the soon-to-be-launched Sony Play Station-3 with its XDR2 memory system, has so far obtained 539 patents. Moreover, it has another 479 patent applications pending for approval in the US. XDR is said to be the world`s fastest data in a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chip.

Also consider SiRF India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed SiRF Technology Holding, and a provider of Global Positioning System (GPS) conductor and software solutions. The $165 million company (2005) has so far been granted 157 patents and many of these have emerged out of its Indian operations. Says Ochinta Sharma, VP, Engineering, SiRF India, ``We are creating IPs in basic design semiconductor in the area of wireless and navigation. We are also working on making GPS and Bluetooth single chip design components out of India.``

While many of the technology companies have their R&D teams located in India, they had never been geared to India as a potential market. For instance, Xora Software Systems, a US-registered company, has all its 50 developers and 50 customer support executives located in India. But it addresses markets mostly in the US and Australia.

Xora works in the niche area of mobile resource management (MRM), a technology built around the GPS system. Pramod Jajoo, managing director, Xora Software said, ``We are not hiring thousands of employees as our requirement is different. We believe in lot of caliber instead of a lot of people.`` It has over 15 patent product patents pending in its kitty.

Technology firms that thrive on creating IPs attract more talent. Many Indian techies are coming back to start their own ventures. A case in point is NetDevices, an integrated networking company that provides services like routing, switching and VPN, co-founded by two former Cisco employees.

``We believe in speed. It took us just three quarters to build a team of 50 engineers and three years to bring out products,`` said Uday Birje, country manager & vice president - India & Asean, NetDevices Networks. NetDevices employs about 10 developers in the US. Birje says its Indian operations has filed for 10 patents so far.

My concern was only with the original issue. I have no time for your ``fluid goal posts`` though I am sure I could take apart those assertions as well.

Harish mian,

You write: ``That there are Paki engineers in any big corporation is a no-brainer``

That solves it then. Not that the number is an issue... but consider the following

Now given that there may be atleast 2000-5000 ``big`` corporations in North America.... and there are 1-100 Pakistanis in each ... then my number of 10s of thousands of Pakistani Engineers is quite accurate isn`t it?

Look bhai, you admitted that there were Pakistani Engineers in those major international companies. Now are you saying that there are no Pakistanis in motorola?

Trying to be too clever by half, are we? Or is it a plain comprehension issue? That there are Paki engineers (as I`m sure are Iraqi/Lebanese/Peruvian/Vietnamese) in any big corporation is a no-brainer. What is at issue is the number, which is where your claim of ``tens of thousands of `bigshot` Paki engineers working in major US companies`` comes in. So where are the specifics you promised you`d come up with?

monto bhaiya.....this is my post no. 482.

you don`t respond to my garbage!!!! lets see which garbage you haven`t responded to!!!!

1) no names of any pakistanis in the top 3 positions in major US companies have been given till date. when we provide names of indians, you say that you have never heard the names of those losers.

2) you tried to evade harsh truths by bringing gdp figures. once those figures were put in doubt, you have gone to great lenghts to persuade us here that those figures are correct and all that is published everywhere else is BS.

3) you have yet not mentioned the name of even a single pakistani company that was involved in a billion dollar take over. when i mention the Tatas, you accuse me of receiving marketing money from them. you try to belittle the tatas by saying that they are an old company and hence they are big. so that means that all new companies are small according to your logic.

4) when we refute your ridiculous claim of indian scientists not being in fermi labs, you claim that the link we provide does not work. i think its your brain that does not work.

5) when we provide you with a link that gives you a list of indian companies on US exchanges, you simply evade that issue by keeping quiet.``

and this is what you have replied: -

``#492 by Mantolives on November 14, 2006 3:46am PT

Devkant Bhai,

We`ve already established that there are Pakistani engineers in American companies, Pakistani companies on NASDAQ and that your fermilab link is not working. We already established that you are either very naive or very dishonest for trying to pass off GNP as GDP and we`ve already established that if Pakistan is crap, India is ranked below it.
Now get on with the programme yaar. ``

now please guide me which of the things you have answered????? infact monto bhia....i think you will never be able to answer my questions simply because you yourself know that there are no answers to those questions.

so you go screaming about non issues about pakistani eng not being in us cos, or your gdp thingy which was never in the original debate. and did i forget the gem of you thinking that i asked someone to kick your backside. why haven`t you come back to me on that one.

rgds,

devkant.

Hey Yasser, where are the ``tens of thousands of `bigshot` Paki engineers working for major US companies like Motorolla``? You said you`ll come back with the specifics didn`t you? The fact, my dear Yasser, is that facts have bitchslapped you silly, and now you have nothing more to do than find creative words for us to use to bitchslap you. LOL!

Dear Harish,

Please revisit your own boast. You are the one clinging on to cottails and being... oh whats that word ``bitchslapped`` (metaphorically ofcourse). As for no ``takers`` for what I say, I don`t care either way since what I say is what is true and the very fact that despite your claims that no one cares about what I say you keep coming back for one stinging slap after another.

Have nice one.
