Classic Romair...
``quite an informative experience.......really got things from the horse`s mouth and learned more about pakistan than i had in my whole life before.........far too much, ``inside`` information to write it all here........some nuggets that people may be interested in:.........the current ruling party, pml(q) was actually set up by the efforts of one serving major general.........he was given the task of threatening the politicians and forcing them to become lotas........``
You just found that out? And by spending time and learning more about Pakistan than ever before? And you still got it wrong didn`t you... the mastermind of the ruling PML is an ex-income tax department civil servant...

``It is the Hindoos, who are full of it, which I have been mentioning here on the Chowk for a long time. When it comes to the greatness of Pakistanis, Hindoo jealousy knows no boundaries. Just don`t worry about Pakistani Engineers in the US (and that is how this string of posts got started). We are doing just fine in our professional businesses. ``
Sir ji, you can keep barking what ever you like. Since we Indians belive in freedom of speech and expression, we will not ask you to stop. But we don`t see the harm in asking you to back up your barking with hard facts. In case you can not provide facts, your barking will only remain barking.
Regarding the greatness of pakistani engineers, please do let us indians know some of the following: -
1) Which was the last pakistani company that was involved in a billion dollar take over deal in the west. (For the Indians it was Tata Steel)
2) Which is the famous pakistani engineering institute which has produced world class engineers and whose alumni have been involved in some of the top most engineering companies world wide. Please do give some names of the alumni too. (For the Indians its The Indian Institute of Technology and I will give you the name of 1 very famous alumni. The alumni is Mr. Narayan Murthy. more can be provided on request. The last we indians heard was that the indian govt had agreed to reserve 2 seats in all iit`s for pakistani students. I don`t think that the proposal got off the ground though.)
3) How many pakistani engineering companies are listed on the the Nasdaq (Indian companies include Satyam Computers, Infosys Tech, Wipro etc).
Hopefully finding the answers to these questions should keep your busy for the rest of your life.
Rgds,

Re: # 130
I suppose when an Indian is an underachieving scounderel and utterly without a life (we all know how Indians live in the US), one revels in ``achievements`` like these.
Despite all these imaginary successes.... my friend... you brilliant country is still below Pakistan on GDP Per Capita scale according to IMF (don`t get into the PPP GDP/capita debate... we all know under reporting of Inflation is a major concern for those who use this standard)...
As for the questions you asked...
1. This is nonsense. TATA has been around for a long time... I am sure in time Pakistani companies will get there. This is hardly something that should get you jerking off in public.
2. I will get back to you on this one as soon as I get sometime... my guess is that another Indian idol is going down ... and I ain`t no Mahmud Ghaznavi man.
3. Will get back to you on this one as well.

The best example of how pakistani engineering is put to use: -

Pakistan suicide blast kills 35
A suicide bomber has blown himself up at an army parade ground in north-west Pakistan, killing at least 35 soldiers, officials say.
About 20 people were wounded in the attack, which happened at a training ground in the town of Dargai in North West Frontier province.
Dargai is said to be a stronghold of a pro-Taleban militant group.
An eyewitness, Aurangzeb, told the BBC he saw soldiers picking up scattered body parts minutes after the explosion.
``The victims were dying. Their shoes and caps were scattered all over the place,`` he said.
Tribesmen in the area had rallied against Islamabad`s alliance with the US after an air strike on an alleged militant camp at an Islamic school last week.
President Pervez Musharraf said the 80 people killed in the air strike were militants, not students as protesters say.
Pakistan has deployed nearly 80,000 troops along the border to hunt militants who sought refuge after the ousting of the Taleban in Afghanistan in 2001.

Hopefully finding the answers to these questions should keep your busy for the rest of your life.
Hey Devkant, why do you have to kick so hard on the collective Paki groin like this? They`re already scratching their heads in wonder as to why Allah`s chosen people, despite having a higher per capita income compared to their tormentors in chief, the abominable neighbors to the east, have to strip down to their underwears when they land on European/American soil. Added to that insult is the fact that despite being a Major Non-NATO Ally, the US has barred direct flights originating in that blessed land. Even worse is the fact that they comprise one of the largest groups of inmates at camp Gitmo. Shouldn`t you give them the long rope?
PS: isn`t it Motorola and not MOTOROLLA?

As for Pakistani companies listed on Nasdaq...
Just a quick search .... got me this:
In 1996, Lahore`s NetSol Technologies Inc. (NTWK ) won a contract from Mercedes-Benz Leasing Co. in Thailand to install a software program from Britain. Later the company developed its own package, which it went on to sell to DaimlerChrysler (DCX ) in nine Asian countries. The NASDAQ-listed company now has 270 employees and this year expects sales of $10 million. In April NetSol signed a $2.3 million deal with Toyota Motor Corp. (TM ) and hopes to expand into Europe.

Abay ...
When you get a chance to get out of the mailroom of that pathetic establishment you work at.... take a look at the list of project managers at INTEL and Microsoft in San Jose
Needless to say you`ll find several dozen Pakistanis... atleast two of them, close relatives of mine.

Manto mian,
(you brilliant country is still below Pakistan on GDP Per Capita scale according to IMF)
I am not sure of that. Maybe you could correct me by quoting the source. In any case GDP/capita of neither country would be worth writing home about.
But I am glad u have finally admitted that my country is brilliant. I am sure in good time you will agree that the old goat was a Mahatma.
Regards

Oh genius you got me there. I probably don`t know how to spell Motorola/Motorolla....
Now that obviously means that Pakistanis are not employed there...
Amazing logic ... coming from a call center employee.

Manto,
(The NASDAQ-listed company now has 270 employees and this year expects sales of $10 million. In April NetSol signed a $2.3 million deal with Toyota Motor Corp. (TM ) and hopes to expand into Europe. )
I suspect an Indian software co. of that size and getting that kind of order won`t merit much attention in any press, even if it was located in Patna, Bihar for instance.
Regards

and monto bhai....
your people started of about indian and pakistani companies. do not dilute the arguement by talking rubbish that since the tata`s have been around for a long time, this is hardly something we should be talking in public. I gave you guys an indian example fair and square. have the decency to admit facts.
if you want to talk about new companies, let me give you some names of indian companies that made it big after partition: Reliance group, Infosys, Wipro (if you talk about their vegetable oil business, then they are an old co., but if you talk only about their infotech business, they are a new company), TCS, Hindalco, Grasim, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank (this bank had won the award for being the soundest bank in asia a couple of years back), ICICI Bank, Ranbaxy, Cipla, Dr. Reddy`s Labs, etc etc etc.
Dude, I can go on and on and on. god knows how many company`s in the range of $ 100 mn and $ 500 mn have the above companies taken over in the west in the last few years.
and 1 more thing, don`t cry about the fact that since india is a big country so these guys get more opportunities to make it big etc etc etc. There are plently of countries smaller than india and pakistan that have bigger companies.
rgds,
devkant.

Ziyada baray bol na bolo mian...
Most people in Patna and Bihar don`t have clean drinking water let alone such deals.
This - btw - was taken from an International magazine in 2005.

Aww... did I hurt the poor baby...
I answered your question. You spoke of Nasdaq and Pakistani engineers in major US companies...
It is you who should have the decency of accepting the facts.

Amazing logic ... coming from a call center employee.
Hey Yasser, what it means is that even a lowly ``call center employee`` would know better English than someone who claims to be educated at Rutgers (is there a Madarssah in New Jersey?) and is supposedly employed with ``one of the top law firms in Pakistan``. Just curious, how do they argue cases in Pakistan, in Urdu or Punjabi?
You don`t have to answer that question if it makes you touchy.
