`` In order to cater to this mentality, for the past 60 years, the powers that be and the intelligentia, have only created circumstances that support this mentality. That is the point where ideology comes in and opens up human mind to many possibilities. ``
Explain to me what constructive endeavour has come of the Islamic ideology being taught in the madrassas of Pakistan
`` While on your side, you have no ideology, on our side we have a different problem. Our problem is that even though we have an ideology that says that ``even if a dog dies thirsty at the banks of river Ravi, the president is responsible``, our country is occupied by a corrupt and amoral class that consider itself above any reproach or accountability. This ideology (that 1 bread each) resides in our veins therefore even though it cannot be taken out of us, but it can be corrupted and distorted. Hence the intelligentia and powers that be in our country try to keep nation into a state of confusion and misdirected. This is even worst than not having an ideology at all. Today, an ordinary Pakistani has no dreams and no hopes for a better governance, better life, and a better society. He thinks that the corruption, lawlessness, and oppression is the fait accompli and there is no escape from that. So Pakistan in a sense is not only deprived of the ``vision or awareness`` state of knowledge but it does not even come close to having capable of ``applied knowldge``. The proof of this is that for the past two decades we have not only been ``importing`` finance ministers but even prime ministers for our country. And people of Pakistan take it lying down, because they think that it is fait accompli and nothing can change that - or even worse they don`t even know what can it change into - no vision. ``
You mean to say India has no ideology and Pakistan has an ideology. I might argue say the reverse is true. The only ideology of Pakistani state is survival.

``Using this knowledge to say that 2+2=4 Breads is called ``applied knowledge``
....only if the one counting is hungry; for a rich man, it could be 4 Mercs :)
For me, the only idelology that counts is humanism; others have really failed to deliver, no matter how beautiful they appear. Communism failed to deliver nirvana to its practitioners (although I admire what Castro has been able to accomplish in Cuba). As for the ideology you admire, it is not only Pakistani leaders who have failed to provide the needs of a dog by the banks of Ravi, I think that state, if it ever existed, disappeared with the first four caliphs. The Ottoman empire was not able to provide such a state, nor were any of the powerful Mughals. And as far as I know, none of the nearly 60 members of the OIC have been able to do so.
Paradoxically, the only ones who have come close to providing such a state are the Western Capitalist societies that you consider to be morally bankrupt. I would have said that this owes something to the Judeo-Christian tradition of ``You are your brother`s keeper``, except that this is true only of Christian socieities in the West that have embraced the concept of a Welfare society along with being a Capitalist society (incidentally, have you noticed that the US society in particular celebrates capitalism but distrusts capitalists?).
The point I am trying to make is that the only ideology one needs is that of humanism; just as you use the quran as a criterion for judging other holy texts, I use humanism as a criterion for assessing all ideologies, including religious ideologies.

DMji it should be Z and J ( let me explain south/hindi belt they they call Garib, Jamindar while in Urdu it is Zamindar and Gharib, that arabic influence, arabic is harsh sounding like German, Russian while look at Bengali it softens they even elliminate ``V`` and relaced by B soft sound, if see on Tv animated arabs shouting death to people look the way they move toungue and hard flat pronouncian, look how arab when angry say MuKHaraban , KH capital is stressed)``
The use of words like sagacious and the knowledge of soft sounds of Bangla and harsh sounds of Arabic, German and Russian is a good evidence that you are a fairly educated person. Whether or not you are a Pakistani, please continue to enlighten us with your wit and wisdom.

`` Urstruly makes an important point and I know most Khasis would miss the importance of it. Western Values are just another name for the Christian Values that are widely practiced in the West even by non or anti religion westerners. Similarly, the Islamic or the Muslim Value system though not widely practiced, and not as clearly defined as the Christian values have a certain following in the Muslim world. Though with caveats and exceptions. Similarly, Jewish values too have a currency in the followers of that religion but is there any thing that can be referred to as Hindu Values? ``
Western values are not Christian values. They are derived from Christian values. In fact Christian conservatives rail against ``secular humanists``.
`` The Indian social structure comprehensively rejects the Western Value system. In fact, the Muslims in India ideologically are much closer to the Christian or the western Value system but they too resist it due to a prolonged Hindu influence on the Muslim ethno-religious culture in India. ``
Japan and South Korea do not accept Western values 100% either.
`` The attempts by some in the Hindu society to adopt the Western value system has resulted in actually degradation in human relations based on mutual respect. The conflict was highlighted by Gandhi when he tried to push a Value system which he thought was more Hindu in nature but that has actually led to the conflict that we see here in the Hindu lower Middle class representatives on this site. ``
Hindu society is being reformed. These changes causes tensions. Change is never clean. Hundred years ago your scumbag Indian did not have to burn his wife for more dowry. You could just marry another female. In modern India police/judiciary/society look down upon people who have multiple wives. Hence the emergence of dowry burning.
Do you really think Indian and Chinese societies treat their women worse than your Middle Easterner or Pakistani cultures ? I am sure some Pakistani dimwit would suggest Indian and Chinese practice foeticide on a large scale.

Yes, squatting over rail road tracks would definitely be considered as bonafide Hindoo Land`s values.

I think one voice of sanity on this forum has been that of AhmedMadani`s. Is he real?
In the first few posts, some interactors said that india is facing a big talent crunch. I think it is because of the abysmally poor condition of our elementary and high school education. As one can see here and in many other places, Indians are too obsessed with higher education. Someone says anything about our higher education system, either extolling or criticizing..and voila...there we go. Meanwhile our schools (on average, not the few where rich kids go) are in a pathetic state of neglect. Another thing that needs to be paid urgent attention to is teacher training. We need scores of good teacher training schools, and for this we should take help of western countries ASAP. Education to children should be imparted not only through school curricula, but also through programs in amusement parks, museums, theaters etc. I think we don`t have expertise for this. But this is a very urgent task.
Sorry...long post and off-topic.

$275,000 is mucho moola for a medallion, and those who have one usually arrange to have other drivers take shifts so that cabs are driven around the clock.
Peemax..I know you have trouble reading(hence the amaranth/amarnath thing)...
let me lay it out for you..a medallion costs 275K, not 375K..and it`s shared among a bunch of pakis...even if we assume a conservate 3 pakis to a medallion, that`s around 90K each...which is less than what most desis make in a year...you have no idea what the market is like...
average incomes of Indian-Americans is 73K each...and the 275K that the pakis pay for the medallion is what they`ve borrowed, not their worth..It`s like saying a person has 500K in the bank if he has a mortgage on a house worth 500K...
