You misunderstand me. I am not giving any credit to either you or Manto mian (my two fave chowkies if it means anything to you) for influencing chowk policy, only for the number of interacts that appear on any article.

Majumdar Bhai, you`re giving me way too much credit for influencing Chowk`s policy, however indirectly, on the kind of articles that appear here. My sole aim is to set the record straight, and I`d like to think I`ve done so, sometimes even at the peril of staying up late in the nights :-)

The number of articles/interacts have nothing to with the seriousness or relevance of the issue- they are purely a function of two things: First, how much potential it offers for Indo-Pak, Hindu-Muslim, MAJ-MKG, America-West/Islam bashing. Second, whether Harish bhai or Manto mian chose to make their apperance or not.

I remember the period you are alluding to very well. Same time as two articles on Lebanon went into 500+ interacts, an article by Feroze Khan on the future of democracy and civil society in Pakistan (very well-written and I dare say much more relevant for S Asia) barely went into double digits ( and barring one or two interacts, the rest were by FRK and me).

(Behram starts/writes unprintable abuses here but when Indians counter him then Okhla appears on the horizon advising restarint. People like tahmed32 again gets worked up only for Ajun`s posts but to those of Behram`s! Why this selective righteousness? )

Abusive language needs to be condemned irrespective of who it comes from and the fact is that both the Macacas and Pakis have been indulging in it pretty much unprovoked. Macacas chose to condemn Paki bad behaviour and ignore fellow macacas, while Pakis do the reverse.

The sensible reaction for those who do wish to interact, would be to ignore all those who are here just to abuse and insult (neither interact with them or condemn their behaviour) and just confine ur interacts to those who chose to debate civilly and rationally.

It is time for civilised rational discussions.

Who are the owners of the chowk? How does chowk.com make money? And what is the motivation of the chowk owners to run chowk- is it profit or do they actually shell out money from their pocket to run chowk. That may give a clue as to at what point of time they decide to shut down chowk.

(chowk has basically remained where it was several years ago - a place to waste time.)

Pl show me where Arjun used some words that are comparable with those of Behram`s. Behram`s language is pure expletives.

If I read him correctly, Arjun`s contention is that all Pakistanis are jihadis/terrorists. I dont agree to that coclusion (if u ask for it or not).

Since u look away for Behram`s expletives, then do the same for Arjun`s linear posts, please.

VRV #367 i didnt ask you to disapprove of arjun. in fact, i said that the fault is that of chowk staff, who have failed to support their own guidelines. and thus prevented chowk from developing into something more than what it is.

If u cant disapprove of Behram, we too cant disapprove of our Arjun. We need Arjun as much as u need Behram. So lets not be indignat abt the Gresham`s Law.

VRV: being young is no excuse to be spiteful and deceiptful - even kindergarten kids are not excused on this accout. and arjun has been on chowk 7-8 years, so rest assured he is no infant.

as for the rest - most normal people would wish their neighbors well anyway. i consider chowk staff to have failed in their duty to kick out those who violate their guidelines. chowk is basically unmanned at this stage. i dont consider this to be a good thing - since, (to apply gresham`s law from economics), bad currency drives out the good.

as a result, chowk has basically remained where it was several years ago - a place to waste time. but not a place to build understandings of different cultures, points of view etc. as you and okla have seem to want to see it. and as i had hoped it would when i first came here. as a result, i one day the chowk owners will probably pull the plug on this website, and we will all go our separate ways. :-)

Arjun is too obsessed with one-point argument. Life shud have nava rasas (rainbow of nuances). He`s too young, I think. Not all Pakistanis are jihadis, not all Indians are into making one chip. Btw, we dont need the acknowledgements of Pakistanis abt India. We wud be better off without any contact with Pakistanis. They already showed us how poisonous their minds are and we are still facing the covert actions of that poisonous thinking.

So this site shud be a place for gup-shup or something of that type.

Ur list of India(n) baiters is bigger (compared to ur country`s size) who are fulltimers and professional India(n) baiters. Inspite the Net, they still think India is a Hindu country. Incorrigibles!

For the sake of record: I hate the people who dream abt Akhand Bharat. That wud the day India digs its grave as a free, democratic, secular & forward looking nation.
