Author, I read the article again (after removing the J references – which is what I should have done the first time :). Overall, it is a very thoughtful and an eminently well-written speech. In fact, I am convinced that you could have left J out completely without losing any of its motivational appeal while perhaps avoiding some of the distractive side-effects that that name seems to have created.

As with most philosopher-types, the contemplative part of your speech is far superior to its prescriptive part – where you suggest what needs to be done. The latter reads more like a political speech –let’s conduct a wholesale “gharibi hatao, naari-sudhar karo,…” etc.

Those who are real well-wishers of your country will take to it well – and will do so in the spirit in which it was intended. Do not expect such courtesy from those whose bread-and-butter is demagoguery and those who thrive on prejudice.

For myself, I have no complaints either and I thank Jinnah for that too. Although there are some clowns like masadi we could have safely left behind in India - although come to think of it, they are not in Pakistan anymore anyway.

I haven`t read all the comments.. So pardon me if someone else has brought this up.. I think the right motto of Jinnah/Pakistan should not be Faith, Unity, Discipline (FUD), but rather the other FUD of the tech. industry.. Companies use the technique of Fear, Uncertainity and Doubt (FUD) against their rival products. Jinnah used it successfully against Congress and Hindus..
