`I think Hoodbhoy`s suggestion makes a lot more sense. What can be more urgent than ``Truth`` in our society e.g.? But even this is not enough I think. As I suggested below to naqshbandi, instead of picking a few words devoid of context - what we need is a statement of national ideals - these would I think be in the form of universal ideals. Look at this preamble to the US constitution, e.g.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Surely something like this is more meaningful than a set of disembodied words.

Goodness...dude like that overly patriotic colonel in a movie said: ``you can`t handle the truth``...so that`s out the window. Do you have the courage to accept the ``truth`` in the Quran that you were created for nothing but to worship Allah? And that you have to worship as is His Right to be worshiped; i.e. following in the footsteps of Prophet (PBUH) every step of the way? Go hide behind lame old ``religion is a personal thing`` comment........LoL

For ``diversity`` to flourish in Pakistan, worshipers of the West need to acknowledge that Pakistanis are different, and the crumbling Western system cannot be forced upon them as a turnkey solution - covertly or overtly, through the self-proclaimed intelligentsia or the military dictators.

And so much for ``creativity`` when a dying ``Western`` machinery is advertised to be the best solution this country needs. No wonder the sinister Indians wish Pakistan adopted the Western/American values ASAP.

Dr. Hoodbhoy may not be insincere, and his scientific achievements notwithstanding, but I agree with the ones who say he has no idea what he`s talking about, except that such fancy buzzwords may enchant some impressionable passing out youth to keep them dozing off during the speech....note the emphasis on ``some``.

As a scientist he is supposed to look at this nation as a system, in its entirety, as a whole. He`s only addressed economy, education, and only one aspect of the social system - truth, which has to be the common denominator in every aspect of individual and collective life of this nation. Go out on the streets and a matric fail would prescribe the exact same solution. One can ill-afford to ignore the rest of the components as he has, i.e. foreign affairs, the defense, the healthcare, and the rest of the social system. All these components have to work with perfect synchronization for the society to move ahead. Otherwise, you`ll only prolong the pain and witness the breakdown sooner than you anticipate.

Given a choice over a proven and flopped out guzzler like USA, which requires repair every step of the way, I`d rather drive the Suzuki Alto.

With friends like you, Pakistan does not need an enemy.

I am also of the view that India`s parttion in 1947 was good for Indians. I shudder to think what would have happened in undivided India in 2006. All the big powers would have gunned for Indians and Indian Government calling the terrorists.

Shriman, now you are talking in a language that I can comprehend. Mr. Jinnah deserves to get the Bharat Ratna, he is the real father of the nation for India. It was due to his tireless efforts, even threats of violence (direct action day) that the lion share of India went to the hindus to rule without any competition.

We hindus got the maximum possible land, even Kashmir, all the major cities (except Lahore and Karachi, which were small towns in those days anyway), all the natural resources possible, a buffer from Islamic world on the west, reduction of muslim minority to an insignificant number that lives in permanent apology for Pakistan, Delhi, Hyderabad, Taj Mahal, Bollywood, you name it. We hindus got rid of the mindless pathans and baloch of NWFP and Baluchistan. We got rid of east Bengal and the vast numbers of bhooka nanga bengali muslims. This was just too good to be true.

Sardar Patel and Nehru must have been rolling on the floor laughing while Jinnah was going blue in the face fighting for Pakistan. What a brilliant effort to make muslims irrelevant in the subcontinent!! No RSS or Shiv Sena leader could ever do for hindus what Jinnah did for us. To top of it off, we hindus even broke Pakistan apart in 1971 to truly reduce them to complete irrelevence in the subcontinent.

Now the Pakis are begging for ``compromise`` in Kashmir, becharas. Notice the complete disdain and silence from Indian side to the beggings and pleadings from Musharraf. Musharraf is even trying to reach out to hindus in Pakistan, change curriculum and open doors with India. This is where we must be really cautious. We must NEVER undo partition in any manner and give up our dominating position in the subcontinent.

Gandhi was a total bewakoof who wanted to gift away India to muslims, he even invited Jinnah to take over as prime minister. If the old man had prevailed and given in to Muslim League demands for constitutional equality, India would be ruled by muslims today. Muslims would have kept their share and then formed alliances with backward castes, the Mulayams and Laloo prasads to take over Delhi. Thank God for Shri Jinnah!!
