so muslim hatred of the US and Israel is ok becaue, in the eyes of muslims, it`s justified and has some noble root cause ..

but if the US targets muslims after 9/11 that`s racial bias and hatred...

Now I get it...when muslims hate, we need to look at the root cause...when they get paid back in the same coin, it`s islamophobia...

VRV #118 {``What Zarqawi showed in his videos and what Maliki govt showed had no fundamental differences. They both had reasons to execute their captors. VRV,
You have summarized the situation quite succinctly and, may I say, accurately. :) I am rather impressed by your perceptive insight.

Sacrificial Lion is not a proper phrase. I think the author took liberty here?

So far the posts of Subhash (especially the last sentence, `Respect Death....`), Nasah for his succint description of `the current puppet of the US killing the erstwhile puppet` and Salim`s objective & brave posts though he himslef being a Shia Muslim shined here.

Being a tribal arab, Saddam wud never fear death. They live like that; blood and death doesnt scare them.

What Zarqawi showed in his videos and what Maliki govt showed had no fundamental differences. They both had reasons to execute their captors. American hyposcicy in world affairs is an open secret. Instead of giving peace in Iraq, Saddam`s execution wud highten the sectarin differences there. A country with world`s II largest oil resources is strewn to pieces by the wily designs of the US and the wilful handmaidens of Iraq. Instead being a wealthy country with KSA-type richness, Iraq is looking more like a fallen country like Somalia.

The cradle of human civilisation is now in cross-currents of bottomless American greed and mindless religious war of the subjects......

The sad truth is that Muslims can`t elect any leaders, can`t remove bad leaders, and now we can`t even properly hang someone in a dignified manner. The two things we used to perform effectively were killing and dying. Now we are down to only one expertise. :(

I thought, in order to get away from narrow focus of the subcontinent, the following may widen the horizon a bit- Rashid:

ABC Breakfast`s guest this morning(3rd Jan.) is the author of 17 books. He`s a journalist, speech writer and endearing rogue who has been described as a ``wise romatic fool`` - Who else could it be but Bob Ellis who is appalled by the hanging of Saddam Hussein.
***
`With its usual stunning incompetence, the Bush administration has made of Saddam`s hanging a secular Golgotha for Arab children to revere down the centuries.
The hero behaves impeccably, and as the rope tightens, his captors in black hoods jeer and curse him, shouting the name of his enemy Moqtada, and interrupt his final prayer of surrender to God, by dropping him prematurely from the scaffold and filming his swinging corpse and open eyes.
They then in a US helicopter take his coffin, demanding it be interred by night lest a great crowd gather, to a graveyard containing his two sons and grandson Mustafa, hereinafter a tribal shrine.
By this they hoped to draw a line beneath his ugly era. They have instead opened up a fissure in the Arab world, and a stink in the nostrils of Christendom, which can only grow.
On a holy day, on a Head of State, on a Biblical scaffold like a Rembrandt painting, after a dodgy trial in which three of his lawyers were shot, and after the pornographic filming of a death that no reporter, unprecedentedly, was allowed to see, Maliki and Bush have shown themselves to be diplomatic farceurs, who have made an Abu Ghraib of what could have been a national cleansing.`

......i think the most hated entity amongst muslims, at the moment, are israel and usa........and the most hated individuals are the heads of these two states........based on this, if one wants to become a hero in the muslim world, all one has to do is to take on these two entities.............

.....once one does that, muslims are generally wiling to forgive any other sins the individual may have committed.....saddam hussein and obl are perfect examples of that......saddam, as many pakistanis may know, never supported pakistan........he never supported kashmir, and was in fact more allied with india than with pakistan......pakistanis, on the whole are not treated well in arab lands........they are treated quite a bit better in the usa (and probably in israel, if they visit)........

obl has done quite a bit of damage to pakistan.........his al-qaeda has carried out terrorist attacks in pakistan, which have killed more pakistanis than americans........his taliban supporters are creating a mess for pakistan`s tribal areas........

......yet obl and saddam are quite popular in pakistan.......i remember, during the 1st gulf war, there were pictures of saddam praying, all over pakistan.........why, one may ask would pakistanis support obl and saddam.........

the answer is quite simple............because they took on the usa and us presidents........they thus passed the ultimate test of, ``greatness`` - at least in the mind of majority of muslims........i don`t know how many pakistanis i have talked with who admit saddam and obl are evil, yet they say bush and usa are more evil and hence they support the smaller evil..........

......quite an interesting way of thinking about events........but there is certainly a large amount of injustice in how killers are dealt with........saddam and obl - both terrorists against their own or others - are wanted......while bush, who has ordered the killing of far more innocents than obl or saddam ever did, walks around free.........as does putin, who has ordered the killing of so many in chechnya.........as do so many others......

........so while i don`t agree with those who support saddam and obl, i do agree with those who feel that bush, saddam and obl all should face the gallows.........

Musharaff is acting on behalf of the interests of the pre-dominant Punjabi Muslim army officer corps. I do not think he is as dominant a dictator as Gen Zia.

#105 tolkinin: That does not ring true (i.e. that the Indian army has not overthrown the government because of diverse ethnicities). Musharraf is from an ethnic community that is barely represented in the military, e.g., but felt the military would be with him if he took over.

The roots of the military takeovers in Pakistan are to be found in cold war politics I think. And of course the three generals (Ayub, Zia, and Musharaff) will be go down in history as having violated the sacred trust a nation places on its military when it arms them and expects them to defend the nation - not take over the nation.

Arsadi. This news would gladden your heart. This is the real evidence to your brand of conspiracy theory of western capitalism spreading war and diseases world wide so that they can sell more.

CIA and Mossad caught deliberately spreading AIDS

Five members of a sinister international network have been sentenced to death in Libya for deliberately and systematically infecting people in Muslim areas with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

A doctor from Palestine confessed to being an agent working for the Israeli regime. According to the Libyan government, ``Some say that it was the CIA, others say it was Mossad.`` AIDS is now a global pandemic, and there have been countless incidents in which large numbers of people have been ``accidently`` infected, often in mysterious circumstances and with evidence of a cover-up by officials.

The origin of the AIDS virus is uncertain, but there have been widespread allegations that it was developed at an American biological weapons laboratory by genetic modifications of based SIV, a virus found naturally in monkeys. The man who ``discovered`` HIV personally testified as an expert witness for the defense, claiming that the gang members were all innocent. Expanding on the Israeli connection, conspiracy theorists have noted that, as a demographic group, Jews are naturally resistant to AIDS for medical reasons, and circumcision is known to confer a high level of immunity.

Drugs corporations generate revenues from the sale of AIDS drugs to victims in wealthy countries.

The cut and paste artist is a paradigm of what Gadamar calls as the ``fusion of horizons``- this time it is the Islamist mating with the Marxists. It is very easy to churn out such Islamists conspiritorial propaganda- just cut and paste the marxist propaganda against America and replace the word ``Marxism`` with the word ``Islamism`` where ever it occurs- and lo and behold you have another lulu.com publication ready from the Masadi`s propaganda factory!!!

``which is why they do it again and again...and which is why the Indian army has never overthrown an elected government....``

And a fly also has a wings too, does that make a fly a bird

Thre are many other reason Indians dont revolt b/c indian army is made of ethnic group regiments maratha, dogra, sikh Bhaiya u.p.bihar ,South indians and all speak different languages at home and cannot have a consensus to go with violent ovethrow not b/c they are ambition less... But not sure of each others loyalty...
During the 71 war Indira gandhi did fear the army but Parsi Manekshhaw assured hr himself in comand of Gurkha (nepalese )
