Pakistan was never interested in Kashmir actually. The Pakistani Establishment i.e Pakistan Army has always used this issue as an excuse to rule Pakistan and gain huge financial profits. It can never gain control of Kashmir. It is also responsible for the deaths of thousands of young kashmiris and Pakistani Jihadis in occupied kashmir. Now Kashmiris according to my point of view are fed up with Pakistan too as they r with India and now they want Independent Kashmir. The Pakistan Army can only conquer its own people and kill them mercilessly like it has done in Urban Sindh a few years back and is now doing the same in Baluchistan and tribal NWFP.

By the way Conquestador... AJK is a Pahari.. Gojri and Punjabi speaking area for many centuries. Kashmiri is spoken in occupied Kashmir.

Whereas, the indigenous Kashmiri struggle when it started in 1989-1990 was provoked by the socio-economic factors and a growing sense of deprivation.

Sorry, I have to disagree. The reason for this was that the Afghan-trained jihadis were ready for a new adventure. Hence the timing for this ``freedom struggle``.

No mention of Kashmiri Pundits!! Your all encompassing article suggests harmony between Ethnic outsiders and Ladakhi buddhists but fails to hint anything about your own Kashmiris living in refugee camps in Jammu. Think of Kashmiriyat without Pundits?

``Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said the president was not mandated to resolve the Kashmir issue. He alleged that Musharraf had become a “private secretary to Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, in a bid to resolve the Palestine issue”. ``

``He alleged that the president had excluded jihad from educational curricula under pressure from the US.``

Imran Khan is clearly showing that he is a brainless idiot. !!

Circumstantial evidence indicates that there have been an organized efforts and official patronage by the authoritarian and dictatorial elite on both sides of the divided state to suppress the growth of Kashmiri language and culture.

Umm..nice try, but no cigar..Indian Kashmir has been able to preserve its Kashmiri language, culture, and heritage because the Indian government does not allow non-Kashmiris to buy land or settle down. OTOH, in ``AJK``, Kashmiri is no more the dominant language owing to the large Punjabi influx.

Tavleen Singh, the Indian journalist recounts an interesting anecdote..a couple of years ago, when she was in AJK, ``Kashmiris`` there were speaking fluent Punjabi, not knowing that she was a Sikh. When she asked why they weren`t speaking Kashmiri if they were indeed Kashmiris, they were fumbling for an answer.
