Basically it is an unauthenticated story....Making a never heard of story the basis of the whole article is ridiculeous. The auth Mr. Kisan should have given some explanation to this effect. He did not even bother to quote the reference.

What about the Al-Khatmi guy? Abu Afak is a fake too never heard that anywhere else.
Second, Any one can enter anything on Wiki. It is not a 100% accurate references in such cases.

1- Most basic or the lowest type of intellectual activity is to find more and more reasons for why we or one should hate others. Majority of ``intellectuals`` who are less educated or even more educated but basically ignorants, out of many religions, and from all over the world do undertake to perform this type of intellectual activity. There are many net forums where many ignorant Muslims are busy in promoting secterian based hatred for other Muslims. And Muslims, as a whole, do consider all other religions as inferior to their own religion. But this thing is not unique for Muslims. So called ``enlightened`` but basically ignorant people from all over the globe are also doing same with Muslims. They are finding more and more historical or scriptural proofs in order to show that Islam is a violent religion and so should be hated and not be given respect. This is a basic form of intellectual activity. Majority people shall continue to enjoy it, just because they are unable to do anything better.

2- An advanced form or a balanced type of intellectual activity is to try to find reasons for why we or one should not hate others on useless grounds. This type of intellectuals are real enlightened people. They try to figure out the exact reasons of group and cultural differences of human societies. They do not judge other cultures on the basis of value system of their own culture. Instead, they try to understand the value systems of those other cultures. They accept the reality that there is diversity in different cultures of world. For them, diversity becomes the source of learning rather than becoming issue of contention.

3- The ultimate form of intellectual activity is to try to uncover the hidden or unknown realities about selfe, humanity, life, universe and even about God.

The enemy of Allah screamed and the people who were his followers, rushed to him, took him to his house and interred him. ``

I have read Arab history of that era but never found any reference to any Salim Ibn Umayr ``a great weeper`` and btw, who is abu afak? These name never appeared in any history book. Are there some history books about that period that have this story. Can any one has any reference to this?

``Later Asma Bint Marwan a woman who composed verses ridiculing the prophet for his barbarity came under the radar of Muhammad. He said ``Who will rid me of Marwan`s daughter?`` `Umayr b. `Adiy al-Khatmi who was with him heard him, and that very night he went to her house and killed her.``

And who is this Asma Bint Marwan? Hinda of the Mawiya clan was known for this but I have not read anything about this Asma woman. What about this Umayr b. `Adiy al-Khatmi` Character? I don`t recall reading any history book that has his name.

Can anyone has some reference to it? Obviously the author doesn`t, as there is not references in the article itself.

Asmā bint Marwān (Arabic: عصماء بنت مروان, namely ```Asmā the daughter of Marwān``) was a female poet who lived in Hijaz in medieval Arabia.

According to a story that first appeared in Ibn Ishaq`s ``Sirah Rasul Allah`` or the Biography of the Prophet of God, she was killed on the orders of the Islamic prophet Muhammad for composing poetry that satirized him. The story`s authenticity as a historical record is a matter of dispute amongst both Western and Muslim historians. Several Muslim scholars demonstrate the relevant isnad (chain of reporters) is not credible but was in fact fabricated by Muhammad Ibn Al-Hajjaj Al-Lakhmi (Al-Kamel Vol 6, pg. 145). Ibn al-Jawzi also argues this event is completely fictional in his book Al-Ilal (Vol. 1, pg. 279).

Poetry was the usual medium of political discourse in medieval Arabia. According to the story Asma wrote a politically charged poem against Muhammad and his army. Upon hearing the poem, Muhammad ordered her execution. The assassin is said to have killed Asma with knives while she was sleeping alongside her children.

Her fate was similar to that of Abu `Afak and Ka`b ibn al-Ashraf, also said to have been executed on Muhammad`s orders.

(1) Joo-e-sheer-O-teesha-O-sang-e-giraaN,

Jooe-e-sheer means digging canals of flowing milk .. it means an impossibly tough task. Teesha-o-sang-giraan means cutting huge boulders with a manual tool. All in all, this verse means that if you want to know the reality of life, ask the heart of a miner!

(2) Paimaana-e-Imroz-O-fardaa

Paimaana is `measure`. Imroz is the past. Fardaa is the future. This verse means that never measure your life in terms of your past or future. Life is a constant strive for success (javedaan) always on the move (Peha`m dawaaN) and always young (Har damm jawaaN).

(3) maaniNd-e-Hubaab

Hubaab is a bubble. Maanind is `like`. This is the most profound thought in this piece of poetry and conveys Iqbal`s description of life and the purpose of life, which is why I emphasized it. This means that ``In the ocean of existence, you have emerged just as a bubble; and in this wasteland around you, your life is your test whether you can survive being merely a bubble riding the ocean waves.``

I am utterly devastated by the fact that you miss no opportunity to take a jibe at simple souls of the world, like this interactor – the latest excuse being trying to enlighten my little sis.

Although I share the negative perception of the Taliban that you so convincingly convey, I am fast coming to the realization that the cost of further hurting my little sis (for remember, her heart is in the right place!) through educating her via the “tough love” method may be rather steep and the benefits of such (reluctantly developed) enlightenment of rather dubious value! There is also a high probability of this discussion ending in a stalemate – not unlike any one of the countless duels that you have carried out with the likes of the Tauheed.

Which brings me to my real reason for writing this interact – what the heck did you say to the Tauheed that he has – perhaps realizing suddenly the absolute futility of any further discussions with you – turned his back to the web-site!
