[[Islam is not responsible for individual absurdities not even for collective ones for that matter. It can only be responsible for what`s in Quran and the authentic sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). I don`t defend groups of people, i do however will defend my religion intellectually, especially if its attacked by obvious opportunists & liars with proven agendas such as Taslima, Ayan Hirsi, Manji the lesbo ( not that theres anything wrong with that, but sleeping with women doesnt make you a scholar of Islam, otherwise Bal thakray would be one as well) amongst numerous others. I am against violence and i truly believe that Islam has no place for vigilantiism but i also believe that any majority has a right to govern their lives with laws that they deem appropriate for themselves.]]

About 50 people attacked the channel’s office in Mumbai, saying the television company was denigrating Hinduism by appearing to promote love between people from different religions.
Marriage outside ones own caste, religion and background is frowned upon in much of officially secular, Hindu-dominated India. Romantic liaisons between Hindus and Muslims have sparked riots.
Fearing the reaction by their families and communities to the relationship, the young couple fled on a scooter last week from their homes in Surat, a city in the neighbouring Gujarat state.

Both spread violence in society, both lead societal norms to chaotic society. They both are like majority of Indians on this board, who are spreading violence on chowk.
This violence on chowk can lead to some serious consequences and I am afraid to say that chowk admins should be more careful and show some responsibility prior to publishing such hateful articles..........

Don`t think a few nasty posts killed anyone. But maybe it is better not to take any chances. Good advice of course for Hindus/Indians but I hope the same advice holds for those who recommend death penalty for apostates, Q- guys, blasphemers etc.

As I had speculated, the discussion has gone astray. Thats why I had tried to bring it to the point through my questions in #19. But expectedly they were ignored. The point is who should decide the fate of Taslima Nasrin.
Coming to those questions again, if instigating to kill i.e. fomenting a group to murder someone is a crime then it must be dealt with severely by the government and dealt with immediately. Government`s inaction will be construed as weakness and this may lead to situation like Khalistan movement of 80s, Babri Masjid demolition of 90s or JH/LM girls movement of Pak. All over the world these fanatics are taking advantage of liberal governments and fomenting tensions between peace loving general public. Furthermore, government should not be seen to take sides (though in this case it appears to favour Mullahs not common Muslims) otherwise it will lead to a chain reaction and if majority resorts to similar practices, it will be harmful for the common Muslims (not harmful to Mullas though, it will be even better for them) themselves.
Best thing would be that the common Muslims start protesting against these fatwas and demand action against these Maulanas.
India should take pride in granting citizenship to Taslima or at least should permit her to stay in India as long as she wishes. It must provide her all the security which is needed for her safety.
India and its values are above false pride of some notorious Mullahs. Common Muslims have nothing to do with this matter even if they don`t approve of what she writes or thinks.
Personally I like what she has written and even confirm to her views.

The drumbeat of these people - most Indians in name or thought - constantly waxing eloquent about supposed `errors and evils` of Islam as believed in and practised reverentially and faithfully by all Muslims except their dozen closest friends, and on other boards, about innumerable ways in which Pakistan has gone `wrong` (supposedly by not turning into just another India, or reverting into the lap of Bharatmata) constitutes a grave threat and insult to faith in truth.
We need a balance of views promoting real Islam here, if not nothing else, then just for improving understanding.
