I thought that Mustafa Kemal Pasha Ataturk won a convincing argument against the Caliphate. We can`t have a united Pakistan, but some people will keep dreaming of an Islamic Caliphate. I wonder why they have to use the ``belt & suspenders`` term of Islamic and Caliphate.

Muslims are heading towards fall, says Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf said Sunday that Muslims are heading towards a decline and if we do not correct our actions, we will cease to flourish.

Addressing the inaugural session of Seerat Conference here, the president said it is high time we took stock of our position anew that how much we act on Islam.

Nobody has right to interpret Islam in accordance with his free will, the president said. President Musharraf said that the society is full of un-Islamic behaviours and hypocrisy, as we say something and do the other thing.

Those having no understanding of Islam have hijacked Islam and if we want to bring people to Islam, we will have to correct ourselves.

Mentioning Laal Masjid, President Musharraf said the government is avoiding any action against Laal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa in view of respect for women and mosque, adding, “I fear only Allah; we can do much.”

“We have left the straight path of Islam; Allah’s rights are in the focus and Huququl Ebad are being ignored,” Musharraf said adding if we want advancement, we will have to quit this path.

We do not have unity in our country, when 57 Muslim countries will be united, he said.

Uh yeah you just proved my point. Yvonne Ridley is a nut, she support Zarhqawi even after his own family disowned him!
