You write
...``Any civilized society frowns at adultery and cheating, they might accept it but they dont wear it as a badge of honor like Hamidm does. Problem on this site is that on one hand you have morons such as Hamidm, who is not capable of any intelligent or decent discourse just because of his family background. He is bitter about his childhood and how everyone ridiculed him about random men ``visiting`` his home and he takes out the frustration of that baggage by getting drunk and then blabbering in cyber space....``
that`s a real scoop. I am really interested to know a bit more about such traumatic events.
No wonder he hits the bottle so often...but the other one is drunk on plain old mashroob-i-mashrique: Tap water!
Do some reasearch on him as well.
thanks.
Your contention is correct except that one might be extreme ( Urstruly, Zee, myself etc) but the other one is not even extreme..it is outright blasphemous...and the CHOWK Neros playing the flute in the earnest anticipation for hot Alexa-ratings.
Well, this is not , as the anglo-enamoured & westoxicated-delusionals [ the CHOWK] would fancy themselves to believe , a place to promote ``unflinching idealism`` [ read: western socialist-liberal-star-bucks claptrap]...
this is simply a CHAT-ROOM, with the leafy-glady, Gymkhani, & universitised noatalgia
for the good-old days when we were a dominion & the world moved at the right pace and angle in the cantonments & civil lines.

Thank you for your response; that it exhonerates me from the original accusation of being ``lewed`` by tahmad. I think you two clowns should coordinate your shit-fest from now on. It seems that in your blindening hatered you can`t tell your elbow from knee or is it the other way around.

...the plan for the restoration of sharia was rolled back. Thats how cheap Islam is in their eyes!
My friend, I will only comment on this part because the rest is all factually incorrect and misguided. You`ll need to check on some facts.
The Hafsa people were insisting on `implementation` of the constitution. Sharia is embedded in the constitution. Government`s negotiator (Ch. Shujaat) agreed to do that, which is why the guard has come off from the Hafsa walls. CJ has reaffirmed that in Lahore on 6th May. Read my previous post on that.
If it isn`t done, the guard will come back on and the march will restart. Make no mistake about that. Hafsa hasn`t rolled back anything. Just giving chances in the true Islamic way.
Regards.

urstruly,
..... as head mussali of this site i did not find your rather limp attempt at erotica `lewd` - i found it to be crude, hypocritical and the sick product of the dark rage that fogs the minds of those who live in dark caves ..............
... here is what i had said then and i still stand by it :
...... why did we have to go and invent the ballpoint ?
............i ain`t no expert on literature - my favorite authors being dean koontz and john grisham - but i can certainly recognize highfalutin ideological sophistry thinly disguised as an erotic story ............ as they say, everyone has an elbow - but they don`t keep on sticking it in other people`s faces while pretending it is a candy cane ................. heck, even dean kootz has an axe to grind and is constantly sending out subliminal messages about golden retrievers, but these messages don`t take way from the cheesy story lines that so many of us have learned to love ............. and every time you walk off a plane and leave grisham or koontz for the next traveller to enjoy you think, `` now, that was pretty good for a six dollar book written in less than six months``............
........... so if you are going to write a diatribe against modernity, just go ahead and write it up like a true jihadi - there is no point in trying to disguise it as a piece of erotica to entice the poor unsuspecting reader .............. what was the story line anyways? ......... if there ever was one, it got lost in the rant against cable tv and forbidden sex, the mourning over bangladesh and the the decline of bedouin values, the raving against middle aged women who dress like whores instead of being properly cloaked in abaya and headjob, the philippic against eros for making young boys go blind, the fulmination at the poor horrible hindoos and their silly caste system, the invective against women in general and ugly women in particular, etcetera ......... the litany of complaints and the accompanying vituperation is grating for somone used to more subtle messages from koontz .............
......i hope urstruly does not follow the example of demosthenes if his message does not get heard by the ummah .......... but i think we are safe - they invented the ballpoint a long time ago ...... shucks!

Forget about what our attitude should be. Any civilized society frowns at adultery and cheating, they might accept it but they dont wear it as a badge of honor like Hamidm does. He is bitter about his childhood and how everyone ridiculed him about random men ``visiting`` his home and he takes out the frustration of that baggage by getting drunk and then blabbering in cyber space. The defenders of islam on this site goes to the other extreme by supporting anyone and everyone who has a long beard. I remember you and Zee were all excited when that Jamia Hafsa fiascoo broke out and how those opportunistic brothers some how will lead the way in the revival of Islam. It was always about the lucrative real estate that they illegaly grabbed and once the govt. gave in to the demands of keeping that illegal land, the plan for the restoration of sharia was rolled back. Thats how cheap Islam is in their eyes!
There is no question that glorification of adultery should be condemned but Islam doesnt allow private citizens to hold court and hand out death sentences. If the government is incompetent than the struggle would be to change the govt., vigilantiism has no place in Islamic diaspora. Islam`s response to oppression and stupidity is not oppression and stupidity, they come from their moral code and Islam follow the discourse provided by Quran and Sunnah. We don`t make up stuff as we go along, we have a lineage of about 1500 years and we have precedent on how issues are resolved and what the discourse should be. In my humble estimation if the revival of Islam is going to take place in our country it will be under the guidance of people who are honest, humble and not involved in real estate scams. Dr. Israr`s name comes to mind and there ar numerous others but Ghazi brotheran and maulana fuzloo epitomizes hypocricy, self-pity-interest and everything that is ill, all they have going for them is a flowing beard, unfortunately Islam is a little more than that.

But in the interaction section of that article, not only you but our resident joker and mussalli were whining all over, that the ``lewd article`` was promoting conservative agenda. Did you find the article ``lewd`` for that reason?
I got the opportunity to read that story through the link you provided, which is an excellent work on the lines of `Manto` and `Ashfaque Ahmed`. Thanks.
I also got to read the interacts. Yes. These people talk from both sides of their mouths :)

Someone had asked for the CJ speech in Lahore for confirmation of one of my previous posts. I don`t see anyone has done that.
It`s full text was barred from reporting, and the TV channels showing the live transmissions shut down in Karachi as well as major parts of Sind by MQM, the coalition partner in Government. However, the Urdu newspaper `Express` reported salient parts of the speech. Following is an extract:

For the full article, click here
This should be enough for the cantonment canines (copyright:Echoboom) who think these are separate movements.

PewResearch#326:
From a few reviews, I don`t think that I will learn anything new from the Spencer book. But I would say this: Early Muslims were great chroniclers (and Indians have learnt a lot about themselves from Muslim scholars who came with invaders like Ghazni). These chronicles also provide a lot of material for those writing against Islam and its Prophet.

Except for the Kindergarten Post-Graduate and the Solicitor who frequents the bars
(but never gets called to the bar)...
This is for the Real-PntellectualitiK ones who suffer from the Post-Mensa-Syndrome.
(Oh how the western ``education`` corrupts the slave-minds.)
As the ``Good`` would tell the ``bad`` in that famed-flick
``There are only two kinds of people in the world: Those who dig (shovel) and those who have guns``
This is where the ``consensus`` comes from to form a ``State``.
Now if the person behind the gun has all the guidance [ from which ever source] to do ``good`` for the populace..he gets popular support.
or
He might use this opportunity [ remember ````opportunists``?] to fill his own coffers & enjoys life at the expense of the misery of the ``masses`` the ``ruled ones`` ...the diggers, the daggaas.
In the end it is the ``man behind the gun``...and it is & always will be one man..no matter what the label glued to the system.
What Motivates the Motivator?
`` Haath hai Allah kaa, Bandaa-i Momin kaa Haath``
Except for Iran, Malaysia & Hizbollah , each & every ``Muslim`` Cantonment Canine is ``digging`` (shovelling)
and as the Great Helmsman once said:
``Democracy`` sits on the barrel of the gun.
Truer words have been seldom spoken.
Japan & China with their one party system know this well. How wise! No Mortgage-term Circus... No `` Duflee vaaaaalay; mairee bajaa``
Iran is experimenting although Ayatullah Khomeini was not in favour of the present system
there..but the softies sang: `` give peace a chance``...Hope they learn soon and remove from their psyche even a tiny neuron of the jahiliya from the ``West``.
(but never gets called to the bar)...

``What gives legitimacy to the the `underlying principle` ``
Existence of the State.
And for the people coming up with some consensus to abrogate the principle of the state means the End of that state. eg. People throwing out Mullas in iran along with wilayat e faqeeh and quran out of the corridors of power will make the existence of ``Islamic Republic of Iran`` null and void as any Islamic Republic has to have 2 concepts to guide the lawmaking:
- Sovereignty belongs to Allah
- Quran (and Sunnah) as the source of Law
Once the so-called consensus reached and given successful in mounting a challenge to Irani state, Iran will become something else. Persia maybe or People`s Republic of Iran.

Re: rahul_capri,
What gives legitimacy to the the `underlying principle` or the constitution that embodies it?
Is it not the consensus of the people? Are these principles still legitimate when this consensus is no longer there? Is civil war the only option? Can`t the constition be refashioned to embody new principles. Not by simple majority, of course, but by a consensus building process.
