further to 311, the immutable underlying principle is what differentiates one state from the other.Since religion in general and Islam in particular has an ether like quality of expanding and occupying any undefined void, so one may not know where this ``immutable underlying principle`` starts and where it ends.It doesnt have anything to do with democracy, a religious state can be more democratic than a secular one.

You are quite right dear. Ek hadees he ``Hazoor ne farmaya `Aurat sheitan ka jaal he. Agar shehwat na hoti to insan har giz is ke jaal mein nah phansta`. Hamein yih hadees ab nazar aai jab shehwat ka jaala hamari aankhon se uttar gaya. Rona to yahi he kih ham in ke bagheir reh bhi naheen sakte. Ghalib ne kia khoob kaha he:
``Mohabbat mein naheen kuchh farq jeene aur marne mein
Ussi ko dekh kar jite hein jis kafir pih dam nikle``

In Pakistan, at the age of 15.......From that point onwards, they are disconnected from society
the paki junta thinks India started the 65 war and that Pakiland won a great victory in Kargil...that`s a result of disconnect from reality, not society...

I would only add that as far as the radicalisation of Muslims, especially the youth, is concerned, 9/11 was not the only reason.
OH MY GOD!!! You`re going against the narrative about the ROP youth turning to terrorism because they`re victims of something...
now you`re really going to lose your prophet tahmed(PBUHSRR) seal of approval...
How dare anyone look at muslims as anything other than victims!!

I hope your trip is successful. But don`t restrict yourself to the IT campuses of Bangalore; do try to take in some ancient temples of Tamil Nadu and the wonderful beaches of Kerala. And be careful about the spicy food, stick to reputable restaurants.

You are right that life for us all, particularly Muslims, changed after 9/11 and Bush`s bull-headed response to it and it has deeply affected multiculturalism in western societies. I would only add that as far as the radicalisation of Muslims, especially the youth, is concerned, 9/11 was not the only reason. It started earlier with the infusion of petrodollars by the Saudis, who provided generous funds for the construction of mosques but insisted on appointing the imams that agreed with their own brand of harsh, uncompromising Islam. I remember a time when we had no masjid in Ottawa and desi muslims will meet in common places where someone from the community would lead the prayer. In the UK, Pakistani Muslims were served by maulvis imported from India and Pakistan who preached islam to which people were used to. But with the coming in of these new Imams, parents were not able to pass on their own version of the soft, sufi-infused islam which was replaced by the more puritan brand espoused by the Saudis.
Multiculturalism in Canada was succeeding and expanding but here too there has been a setback. It is partly because we immigrants have brought our old baggages - Kashmir, Srilankan Eelam, Khalistan, Palestine, etc. with us and turned Canada into a battleground for our old battles. This is naturally resented by the natives. Islam is getting a bad name here also because of the activities of some extremists who have issued death threats and attacked Muslims who do not agree with them. The backlash is particularly harsh in Quebec, which is behaving more like France in this respect.

Re: # 307
I cannot accept the accusation of `saudi money to build mosques` theory as a cause for all troubles, without a proof. Most of it is a heresay and propaganda based on political expediency, prejudice, and covetuousness. The globalization of Muslim issues were bound to happen, since injustice and oppression can prevail only so long. It is not in the nature of man to subjugate himself to the tyrranny of the other. Even though the West has had monoply on violence for the past 500 years, but anyone can see that now that this time they chose to fukk with wrong kind of people. And they ARE definitely ruing the day.

teshah #301 I am of the same (per your view of the world) ``caste`` as mukhtaran mail, i.e. a gujjar. Unlike you, I am not a dangar. And unlike you, I was raised in the finest muslim tradition, and taught not to look up to any individual and not to look down on any individual on account of his or her socio-economic status.
Individuals like you need a good thrashing, and are not fit to walk on the same ground as mukhtaran mai.

Sorry dear tahmad my post # 301 about Mai hit you unintetionally. My comments were based purely on media reports which did say that Mai was an illiterate low-caste woman. I did not know that she was a gujjar as you are. Gujjar, I know, are a very `ghayyur` qoum but what I wonder is why the family of Mai spared `thrashing` (as you threaten me with) the Mastoies when they were allegedly dragging her for the alleged gang rape. I cannot believe this to have happened at all as a gujjar cannot be so `begheirat`.
I suspect this was merely a case of tribal vendetta bolstered up by media and NGOs for their own ends and in fact there was no rape wape at all as clearly borne out by the verdict of the Multan High Court. I am also a pendu and know to which length the tribal vendetta can go.
You called me a `dangar` to spite me but I think that animals are in a way better than us human as the Qurane Hakeem says ``You are worse than the cattle if you don`t think``, dear gujjar.

Interesting discussion.
Hope you don`t reach the unsettling conclusion that the state (particularly democratic state) is nothing but the will of the majority clearly prevailing over that of the minority......or worse, that unless such injustice is clearly embraced as the only meaningful and real form of justice, there can be no state and no democracy...
Will follow your arguments, from the sides lines.
