HP writes <<< Only a crazy would assume that the US is not in any eqauation in Pakistan >>>
Well said, and as we know ``crazies`` are aplenty on Chowk. A prime example of such a ``crazy`` was the equation of ``toilet paper`` with the long history of US interference and geopolitics in this region, by Stuka, and a similarly stupid comment by PM. Such idiots are programmed to ignore facts, even when they strike them in their face and produce objective consequences in their lives. All that matters to them is some tamasha-bazi on TV. Their pathetic existence should be lamented. They are intellectually and morally dead, ``dead men walking``.

Dear Bbabu,
Our utterly & completely respected Masadi need not be taken at all seriously. Be taken he must, but not seriously.
Masadi propounds his weird peons/slaves Vs Elite theories. No one believes the bull shyt that he spews from time to time. Masadi is a much respected figure (as he claims) in Lululand (Lulu.com). Rest of the world (including his US University, the local college & even Chowk editors) have not hesitated in booting him out by rejecting his ``articles`` & mad ravings.
The American elite have killed Woolmer. Don`t believe me ?? Ask Masadi....

Any of us cannot rule out US involvement in the protests. It is irresponsible to suggest that Musharraf or the Pakistani military are acting in the larger interests of the Pakistani nation. Their dealings have been counter-productive to the Pakistani society.
If you are a Iraqi Shite or Iraqi Kurd do you oppose American invasion in 2003 ?

There is no doubt that the crisis in Paksiatn is manufactured. I doubt that the US would be involved in the nitty grity or the execution of the whole thing but there have been instances when the US had tried to pull the plug on its favorites sons in the third world countries. They even arrested one in his own country. Any one remembers Panama and Noreiga?
Why should we assume that the US has nothing to do in the current crisis in Pakistan? Pakistan is an important country in the current conflict and its leadership plays in an important role in the US strategy in the area.
Asadi, You need to think about the recent interaction between the Saudis and Pakistan and especially, the attempt by Mush to line up gulf counries against Iran. The US believes that Mush himself sabotaged that effort or was not fully on board with the US on Iran. Hence he needs to make room for someone who is more willing to work with the US.
Only a crazy would assume that the US is not in any eqauation in Pakistan.

``The American elite, through their occupation force in Pakistan (aka) the Pakistan Army, are trying to pull Musharraf back in line. Over the years, the Americans in their calculations have failed multiple times to control the consequence of giving their peons too much leverage. These peons like Musharraf, once this dynamic is set in place, develop the ``false consciousness`` that they are indispensible and so like Saddam Hussein start pulling and tugging for more power and independance. This however is not tolerated by the Americans, so using the institution they dominate (the Pak Army in this case) they manufacture crisis.
``
Blame America for this? Dude, if your Lota runs out of water while u are taking a dump, you will blame American elite for monoolizing toilet paper.

The author writes <<< The spectators in other parts of the country were bewildered to watch when the premises of a private TV channel remained under siege continuously for more than six hours facing direct fire on staff and news team. Their reporters and female anchors requesting, crying and sobbing called for security arrangements from government, but nobody paid heed to their requests >>>
Hmmm maybe that was part of the act, as is often the case when crisis are ``manufactured``, just like the media ``manufacture`` BS as real news. It was all fake BS. I wonder how many tears they shed on the tens of thousands that get killed everyday in Pakistan due to inadequate nutrition or disease, caused by poverty, how many tears I ask you? F this BS, peons of the US on both sides are playing a cat and mouse game as the public suffers continually, not one day or two days but for multiple decades now. Many of these so called private tv channels are outright CIA concerns that are well known for drama enaction, they were all over Tehran in the late 1970s facilitating the ouster of the Shah, as they had done with Mossadeq earlier, Musharraf is a much smaller fry than he was. They are quite predictible in their standard operating procedures. Let me repost what I posted earlier on another board:

If such ``manufactured crisis`` fizzle out their next option i.e. if their slave (i.e. musharraf) doesn`t bow to them with the correct degree of sajda or with the correct amount of reverence and submission, will be to send a ``Hellfire`` homing towards his a$$. Of course when the Hellfire strikes it will magically be transformed to a russian manufactured RPG fired by a disgruntled Taliban/Qaeda member/supporter. A few crocodile tears will be shed by the American elite as they move on to fresh tyranny under a new military tyrant, who punishes the people of Pakistan on their behalf...

Zeena,
You wrote, ``Remember when any governance tries to choke Media, that`s the END of that governance. ``
The worst choking of teh media in my memory was carried out by Zia regime. I remember those blank spaces in newspapers where the news items were censored. Yet, Zia survived for more than a decade after choking the media. But then it can be said that we now live in different times.
I`m not Musharraf`s fan, never have been from day one, but in all fairness, the freedom the media has enjoyed under him is unprecedented in Pakistan`s history. Even if we take the recent events of attacking TV channel offices, harrasment of journalists and the imposition of PEMRA bill into account, the media is still faring better than it did under the so-called democratic dispensations of Benazir and Nawaz Sharif. And that is another one of the many ironies of Pakistan.
I join you in wishing Musharraf be replaced but replaced with what or who? Would the new entity be any better in dealing with the media than the current one?

These are the birth pangs of the new `Pakistan`
(actually she said `Middle East`, but it`s the same thing.)

Is this the great unraveling? This time next year the dictator in charge of this failed nuclear Islamist state will be either Musharraf, another military general or a Mullah. In any event the people will be no better off, there will only be more violence and less tolerance.
