Ok. Since you asked this question. Do you think Altaf Hussain has any plans to return to Pakistan? What is the second tier leadership? What is their manifesto or agenda?
Ok never mind the other questions. Just answer the first one. Do you think Altaf Hussain has any plans to return to Pakistan?

#146 I am not his travel agent, so I cannot answer your question about his travel plans.
As for the mqm agenda - I think they aspired to become a national party, but lacked the heart necessary to go beyond their narrow ethnic identity, as was revealed on May 12. And as such, they will remain a splinter group at best in Pakistan in the long run. Democracies can accommodate splinter groups and extremists. So, the important thing is the restoration of democracy.

MQM is run like a mafia, I have no doubt about that but there vote bank can only be eliminated when their voter base finds a better alternative not by force as you put it ’’Punjabi and pakhtoon crushing it’’, wohh chooriyan pehan karr baythay hein?
itnayy jootayy parein gay, kayy lag pata jayega! Zara pooch lijyayy gaa kissii khi kay punjabi pakhtoon jiyalayy sayy kay jab fauj peechayy kharii naa hoo too yeahhh chootayy chootayy kalay kalayy matarwayy kaysayy nakoon chanayy chabwatay hein. Khudara yeah punjabi movies kay sehar sayy niklein or aqal kay naqun lein.
Learn a lesson from east pakistan, our ’’punjabi & pakhtoon albadr and alshams’’ tried to crush our bengali muslim bothers and sisters and lets just say they didnt take kindly to that, so the lesson from history is that if you want to keep a fedration then it would happen only if you truly respect not just in rhetoric the smaller provinces and give them their due share. The onus is on punjab, it has to play the role of a good, humble and fatherly bigg brother, we know and are familiar with the macho big brother and it aint workin out for the either party.

abusafwan: you need to step beyond the standard mold that too many pakistanis are stuck in.
First - it is not a case of ’’chorian pehan kay bethay hain’’. It is a question of operating within the law. you dont respond to ghoondaism with ghoondaism.
Second - it is not a case of ’’big’’ vs ’’small’’ provinces. you need to go beyond provincialism and see what is best for everyone living in pakistan in the long run. Wealth and prosperity is not a zero-sum game except in a ghoonda society.

Sir jee i am a proponent of democracy and complete annihlation of Pakistan Army from Civil affairs, i know its reaching for stars but any less and we will be stuck in this rutt that we have been in for 60 years. I am under no illusion that true democracy is some sort of a miagic pill, but i do know that it is a self corrective process that migt take a decade to churn out its fruits but we have to start. Democracy in pakistan for all intent and purpose suit punjab because of its numbers, i am not a punjabi and punjab’s track record isnt flashy either but for some reason this time around i have a feeling that the political leadership that hails from punjab realizes that they will need to mend their ways and act in a fair manner if they want to keep pakistan intact. I know it sounds too optimistic to nay-sayers but pessimism is haram in my book and the signs originating from punjab this time around are heartening to me as an individual hailing from a minority, deprived province.
As for MQM, they will keep getting the votes and support of the people of karachi till majority of karachi sees the sincerity of the national political parties. They are an educated bunch for the most part and will sway away from MQM as quickly as they were swayed in, but the majority at large need some proof of that sincerity, not everyone is willin to give them the benfit of doubt as I am.
Zeemax,
You are debating semantics here. Name me one one national leader from muslim league (N) who is a non-punjabi speaking, (and please dont insult my intellect by naming regional presidents) or a non-pushtoo spekaing leader of ANP? we have a long way to go as a nation so lets not play this blame game cause, hazrat iss hamaam mein sab nangay hein.

The tragedy of May 12 has conclusively proven that Moulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi and Moulana Adul Aziz of Lal Masjid were correct all along that terrorists like Altaf Hussain should be extradited from England through an anti-terrorist warrant served thru IterPol and should be tried in an open court of law for his crimes against the people of Pakistan.

Abu-Safwan:
There is this mentality among a certain class of Pakistanis that they equate good-looks, height, white-skin, gora-accent, with ’’smartness’’...
No wonder the Pak-army has gotten its ass kicked everwhere except where it excels: in conquering..its own country. When they go for training to Sandhurst & West-point what else you expect from these Alsatians. Will they ever bark at their trainers?
This Amritsari-Panjabi guy ( you don’t get more Panjabi than that) who had such the hatred & revulsion for his fellow Panjabis...seething hatred because of the baighairtee they had shown in always having a co-operative, compromising, loyal attitude with their paymasters.
This guy was on a very senior position in a multi-national.
About Ayub Khan (No Pathaan, he was a Chhachhee, a mongrel like this hamidm2 here)]
he used to say ’’ O meiN edday tikkay , kabaab kar kay khavaaN’’ [O i want to feed on his flesh-kebobs]
He told me of how he heard some Panjabis say after the Tashkent agreement:
’’ Look at Shastri..the puny tiny man in a dhoatee, dark color, speaks english in Hindi accent........., ’’
’’ An then there’s our Ayub Khan: Goraa-rUnG, Blue-Eyes,6 feet tall;...resembles Darpan!
[a Pak movie actor]
For Pakis:
working for someone & getting a job where they can feel goraa-ish & act goraa-ish is the ultimate achievement. They try to impress their paindoo kith & kin even by such trivial,
chhachoarpUN, like drinking coke in cans , rather than bottles. [ I discovered this recently...
because cans are not available in Pak, they impress fellow Pakis by such ’’Smart’’ moves]
These Kuttas from Cantonment & Colonies will never ever utter a single word against their Paymasters........
also a a sure way to expose a Quadiyyani! ( double-whammy indeed!)

abu_safwan #151 Democracy does indeed work slowly - the 27th amendment to the US Constitution (on controls over congressman salaries) was finally passed in 1970, even though an amendment to this affect was first proposed in (sit down before you read this) 1789!! The right to vote was included as a basic right in 1779, and extended to blacks in 1870 and to women in 1919.
And that is the greatness of this system - as you say, democracy is a self-correcting mechanism and better to have corrupt politicans who can be held accountable than to have an uncorrupt khalifa or an uncorrupt hitler who is not accountable.
As for the panjab, if you look at the voting record of the panjab you will see that ethnic politics do not hold sway in the panjab - the two bhuttos are proof of that. mqm could have gained a foothold in the panjab, but after May 12 that is over - mqm office office holders in the panjab resigned in a number of places after May 12. Ethnic politics are played by those who seek personal gain and/or cannot see beyond their nose. The Chief Justice is non-Panjabi, and yet he has won the hearts of all pakistanis (including panjabis) because of the courage and integrity he has shown. I rest my case.

Dictatorship also works very slow, and so does the bureaucracy; both are extraordinarily corrupt as well. What is your point?

Yaar he is saying that puting on a necktie is a must. The advantage of putting on a necktie is that when you remove it you feel real fresh & easy.
But if someone decides never to put on a necktie & makes himself , & those around him as well, comfortable ..that is a no no. Why? that someone must be a dictator & not believe in putting on a necktie ( democracy)
