rf,
..... you don`t want to compare the civilized people of karachi with the primitive savages who inhabit peshawar, dargai and charsadda - those people still think and live the way their forefathers lived a thousand years ago ........... and what is so sad is that they are proud of it!

I don’t know much about mqm, but the present governer of sind has been exposed as a crook by UK authorities, apparently while he was governer over there, his wife was claiming social security benefit over here, and his daughter is in medical college paid for by the UK taxpayer, welfare state gone mad.

Pakistan governor got UK benefits
A senior Pakistani politician received UK state benefits for months after returning to the country as a governor.
Dr Ishrat-Ul-Ebad Khan sought asylum in 1992, said the Sunday Telegraph, and claimed benefits from 1999 to 2003.
His spokesman said authorities were told when he left London to become head of Sindh province in 2002, but admitted his wife kept receiving the cheques.
The Department for Work and Pensions said it could not confirm Dr Ishrat`s claim that he had repaid some money.
The Sunday Telegraph alleged Dr Ishrat had been in receipt of Income Support worth around £1,000 (59,680 rupees) a month, for 10 months after leaving the country.
The newspaper said Housing Benefit also funded the £244-a-week rent on the north London home in which three of their four children still live, after Dr Ishrat left.
The governor had ``unambiguously`` offered to return whatever money he may still be owing to the UK authorities, his media advisor Salahuddin Haider told the BBC News website.
A spokesman for the DWP said they could not discuss details of individual cases, but said they took allegations of benefit fraud very seriously and would be looking in to it.
They were first made aware of the allegations when contacted by the Sunday Telegraph, she added.
Mr Haider added that Dr Ishrat`s wife had written to the authorities and asked them to stop the payments but she kept receiving the cheques in the post.
Karachi mansion
When asked why she continued to cash the cheques, Mr Haider said she was not sure about Dr Ishrat`s status in Pakistan.
``She felt that Pakistani politics was so unpredictable that her husband may have been forced to return to England within a few months.
``Had she discontinued the arrangement at the time, she would have had to go through the whole bureaucratic
process to get the payments restarted.
``That was why she kept cashing the cheques till such time that she was certain that her husband was not returning to England.``
He said once the cheques were stopped, the couple returned whatever excess money had been drawn.
Mr Haider added that did not know the amount of money that had been returned or what was still left unsettled.
The Sunday Telegraph said since Dr Ishrat`s return to Pakistan and his inauguration as a governor in December 2002 he had lived in a two-storey mansion in Karachi.
His wife joined him in October 2003, and currently divides her time between Pakistan and the family`s rented home in Edgware, London, it added.

Today is another great day for Pakistan... and Zaman Park...
Two brilliant men who were once boys who grew up in and played cricket together at the famous ground in the Zaman Park neighborhood in Lahore have brought alive Jinnah`s Pakistan... Pakistan Zindabad ... Imran Khan Zindabad ... Aitzaz Ahsan Paindabad...
As Aitzaz the lawyer-politician in Jinnahist tradition spoke of ``Quaid-e-Azam`s Social Welfare Pakistan based on equality of citizenship regardless of religion caste and creed`` , Imran Khan, the once great Quaid of our Cricket team, was banned from entering Sindh by the fascist government there. (It goes without saying that the way MQM has reacted to Imran Khan by issuing him threats have forced even those like me who supported them to re-think our stance on them....)
Both men have stated one mission: Restoration of Quaid-e-Azam`s Pakistan... a Pakistan free of exploitation, avarice, hunger and poverty ... a Pakistan based on rule of law ... a Pakistan based on Justice and Fair Play...

Punjabis often have a habit of being impressed with their own greatness and not that I am ethnically prejudiced you know ! It is a bit like Ayub Khan was sufficiently impressed with himself to declare himself Field Marshal, perhaps for shifting the capital to Islamabad....
From amongst these two great men , one made a name for himself venting his ethnic prejudices against anyone from Karachi in the national cricket team , perhaps because he is a near-relation of ``Tiger`` Niazi the hero of 1971. He now has taken from where the feudal occupation forces left Karachi in 1999, the task of finishing off MQM which as a party of the tax-paying middle-class presents a threat to their Jurassic hold over Pakistan.
The other was the corrupt Home Minister and later Attorney-General of the even more corrupt Benazir Bhutto. He also has the dubious credit of, in 1989, supplying ISI`s list of Khalistani operatives to India . Had a non-Punjabi done so, the ruling feudal class would have declared him traitor and hanged him but of course , Punjabis are forgiven everything in Pakistan, even high treason.
>>have brought alive Jinnah`s Pakistan
You mean the Pakistan the corrupt Jurassic feudal-Shahi broke into two in 1971? When did it come together?
>>>... Pakistan Zindabad ... Imran Khan Zindabad ... Aitzaz Ahsan Paindabad...
Sorry did you say Paindoo-bad?

LOL - Yes, they do have this self-delusion about their own greatness - not even their own wives believe them. :) Correction! I should say especially their own wives don`t believe them. :)
BTW, Congratulations! Your post #28 was not only informative but very convincing. I think that you corrected #16 to smitherines. Good job.

Hamidbhai.... I do not know most of things and do not know why they opposed but can speculate. I think you really know the reasonn and you can answer better and have awam all benefit of your experience and information and wisdom.
I can not go in too detail as details need info and inside activity and I protect myself by being away from all troubles and just sit at home and hope for best.
Now my speculation.
President is Urdu and is related to altafbhai as blood brother altaf being his elder brother by this successes and they love each other. Now Altaf father was stationmaster in Agra a big post by any standard and president father was govt servant from old delhi. Now in old times of Mughal empire Agra and delhi went together. So that affinity overcomes all problems and altaf as le3ader of MQM will do any thing to support same race person. Altaf was chaffing when these goonda and political judge etc started attack on brother which was uncalled. He is first MQM dictector to rule and his demise of under cutting under cuts MQM supremacy in Sindh and Karachi. This is biggest city and coming here they were attacking MQM directly which is not acceptable to INHQ of MQM , as a last resort call was given to followers of MQM to stop Judge. It serves two purposes warns opposition to keep off hands from MQM Race president and also warning to general to watch caregfullly and remind, blood is thicker than water and not to talk to BB. The message was loudly herd by president and he accepted MQM line. MQM is not strong to dictate people to shun PPP but strong enough to keep BB engaged and out. By his direct action bu muscular interaction he proved loyalty and same time warn president to away from BB.
Basically MQM is caged by president and president is caged by MQM, and have to support him as dark skinned brother. Now this joker from Punjab a toothless tiger ( how many strong hands and armed hands he controls? none) tried to enter the Tigers lair and try to pull tail of MQM tiger. This tiger when pulled tailortail of MQM in their terrotary got irate and attacked intruder as he was willfully passing in enemies terrotary and in political battels , so like tiger MQM started defending their terrority.
It is aggression by NonMQM people lead to problems

Dear Writer
You gave an easy solution to the current chaos of Pakistan in the last paragraph of your article......
Well, In my humble opinion, I strongly believe that the only solution to the current chaos of Pakistan is as follows......
#1: Musharaf should resign immediately.
#2:General Election should be held immediately without any delay....enough is enough.
#3:-If, Musharaf wishes to be the next President of Pakistan, he should run the election like all other Pakistani politicians and, if, Pakistani majority wishes to elect him as their President or PM, he is most wellcome......afterall that`s what democracy is!
#4:-But, if Musharaf wishes to run the election, he should first be punished for the murders of 42 innocent Pakistanis in Karachi.......
#5:-MQM(the murderers of 42 innocent Pakistani Karachiits) should be punished immediately accordingly.......murders of 42 innocent lives need their killers and those killers are non other than MQM....the only soultion MQM should be baned for good......And trust me Punishment for the murderers is nothing, BUT, hang them till death.............in front of every Pakistani and specially infornt of the families of those who got murdered for NO reason at all.
#6:-I believe Pakistanis should give a fair chance to Imran Khan to trust in his leadership.........

Right now Pakistanis need a new and sincere person who is capable enough to face all the current challenges with wisdom and dignity..........and I don`t see anyone else, but, Imran Khan as future PM(head of state) of Pakistan.......
#7:-Once Pakistanis establish democracy, then they should let it continue it without any interruption......till the next term elections.....and that`s the only way of ULTRAFILTRATION of corrupt new and old politicians.......
#8:-Pakistan Army should be strictly warrned NOT to hijack Pakistanis for the next coup(always a big drama created by army generals to establish dictatorship in Pakistan)....they are not meant to be rulers of Pakistan, they are being paid by poor people of Pakistan to defend Pakistani borders and homeland security....Rulers of Pakistan are poor average Pakistanis...
#9:-Feudal lords should all be rejected and be punished accordingly for enslaving 80% of poor and oppressed pakistanis and for abusing them and for depriving them of their basic human rights.
#10:-All the lands owned by feudal lords should be distributed among poor peasants..........they should be the owners who work hard day and night on those lands......
#11:-Education mandatory for each and every Pakistani citizen...
#12:-Technical skilled institutions should be encouraged to give Pakistanis an ample and equal job opportunity...
#13:-Females should be encouraged to participate in the progress of Pakistan by giving them equal rights in education and employments.......
#14:-Implementation of strict law enforcement agencies thorughout Pakistan immediately....
#15:-Judiciary must be given more respect than any other institution.........
#16:-Jihad against common curse, called corruption in pakistan which has already eaten up the whole country......
#17:-Equal rights for all the minorities regardless of their religious affiliations.....
#18:-Instead of giving complete power to few corrupt Pakistanis, the power should be distributed equally among poor and oppressed Pakistanis for the protection of their rights, which have had been always violated since 1947.......
#19:-All the Pakistani citizens should be equally given respect and security by the state......

Yasser, I like your positive attitude. But problems of politics do not lend themselves well to the cricket model. It is a great mistake to be fascinated by individual politicians just like wide-eyed schoolchildren get enthralled by movie stars. My advice is – pay attention to good ideas, not specific personalities and individuals.
Because in case of the latter, you will always be disappointed!
Good ideas do not change – people who claim to have those good ideas do.
There never was a messiah and there never will be.

Sir, could you come up with a substitute for ``paindabad``, because - forgive me, dear Pakistanis - every time I hear that word, it comes to me as ``pain-da-bad``! :)

Little sis,
It is good to see you back – in full health and with your stamina intact! :)
Your list of 19-points is impressive.
It is a bit like the 20-point program that Mrs. Indira Gandhi once put together – and ended with a landslide election victory.
She gave it a title – “Gharibi hatao!” You could call yours – “Musshy Bhagao!” :)
However, I see a few problems. Try to understand mian Mushy’s perspective, too. Resigning, free elections, getting punished are not legitimate options for any self-respecting dictator. Plus, mian Mushy is ALREADY the president of Pakistan and probably does not see a need to run for office any more that he did the last time. Also, regarding Imran Khan, everybody knows that cricket players do not necessarily make good rulers (Remember the Nawaz). Your spunky ideas of “warning” the Pakistani army, “rejecting” feudal Lords, imparting “mandatory” education, and so forth are truly outstanding – but like they say in the proverbial story “who will bell the cat”?
I especially like your idea of “equal rights” for minorities – because I can envision the Pakistani rulers working VERY hard, going all over the Pakistani landscape with a magnifying glass to FIND some minority to impart those equal rights to! :)
I like your spirit of “Once Pakistanis establish democracy,…” Well said!
Kyun ki – baad ki baad mein dekhi jayegi!
I think your #19 is already implemented. All the Pakistani citizens are being given equal respect and security by the state – the only problem is that the amount of respect is rather miniscule and the amount of security is rather excessive! :(

On my comment: ``False. Karachi does not generate 70% or any other figure. It merely collects revenue on behalf of the rest of the country due to the major port/airport/corporate/banking head offices located there.
You respond: ``Revenue can only be “collected” from those who are willing to pay ... blah blah ... ``
So looks like I`ll have to hold your hand and walk you through the process because you`re too darn ignorant:
1) I have a factory in Sheikhupura. My raw material is imported every month and lands at Karachi. I ask my clearing agent to clear the goods in Karachi and wire the money for import duties/suercharges/levies etc to my agent who pays them and loads the cargo on trucks headed for Sheikhupura. Who generated the revenue collected in Karachi?
2) I own a bank with its head office and ten branches in Karachi, and 100 branches all across Punjab and NWFP. My Punjab and NWFP branches made Rs 10 million profit in 2006. My Karachi Branches made Rs. 1 million. When the books were consolidated my bank had profit of Rs. 11 million. When tax assessment was made I was taxed on Rs 11 million in Karachi because that`s where the books were consolidated i.e. at the Head Office. Who contributed tax on Rs. 10 million and who on Rs. 1 million?
Rest of your post also consists of ignorance, misrepresentation of facts, twisting of words, evasiveness, obfuscation, side-tracking of issues, personal attacks on political personalities, and just plain dumb so not worthy of further comment. A parallel may be drawn from just the above response.
