Pakistani khakis stand exposed for what they are - and have forever been.
A bunch of uniformed power grabbers who do not care a fig for the wishes of their own people - and will do anything to stay in power!
They will leave no stones unturned,
they will make rivers of blood flow,
they will jump into beds with the greenest of the Jihadis,
they will lie and lie through their teeth,
they will sell their own mothers,
they long ago sold their souls...
...just to prolong that hold on power!
Then they will stand in front of the country and shout....
...Pakistan paindabad!
And with a straight face, too!

Over 200 journalists booked for rally
Our staff reporter
ISLAMABAD - Federal Capital Police on Tuesday registered a case against more than 200 journalists for violating section 144 and staging a protest rally against the restrictions on media on Monday in front of Prime Minster Secretariat. An FIR has been registered in Secretariat Police Station.
However, the Station House Officer (SHO) himself made a party and registered an FIR against the journalists according to section 188.
Prominently Fauzia Shahid, Mazhar Abbas, C R Shamsi, Afzal Butt, Mushtaq Minhas, Tariq Usmani, Talat Hussain and political leaders Ahsan Iqbal, J Salik and Jehangir Akhtar have been accused for violating the section 188 the civil order in an FIR.
The FIR 92 registered at Secretariat Police Station states that on June 4 several individuals took out a torch bearing rally in violation of section 144 imposed in the federal capital, protested against the government, broke all barriers to reach the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and made speeches against the government which come under civil disobedience.
The police termed this FIR ‘Blind FIR’ and when inquired that what does it mean by? The police official told “It means that anyone can be arrested anytime”.
It is pertinent to mention here that no arrests have been made so far in connection with the FIR against the media persons.
Just few days earlier the carvan of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry left for Abbottabad and the section 144 was also imposed then however, the police and the administration could not dare even to speak a single word against them though they rose anti-government slogans.
STAFF REPORTER from Lahore adds: In anticipation of strong public reaction against the PEMRA Ordinance on the occasion of Thursday’s planned protest by lawyers and the Opposition parties, the Punjab police has arrested hundreds of political activists from across the Punjab in a massive crackdown, which started late Monday night.
Though police have denied the arrests, the political parties have claimed that hundreds of their activists have been apprehended from various Punjab cities, including the provincial metropolis.
According to media spokespersons of various Opposition parties, the police raided the houses and offices of their political activists in different cities to apprehend them ahead of Thursday’s joint protest by lawyers and the Opposition parties.
While many were arrested, some managed to escape, who were still hiding at undisclosed locations, they claimed.
During these raids, which were continuing till filing of this report, police reportedly misbehaved with women, children and other family members of the political activists.
In some cases, the police even arrested the relatives of the activists, who slipped away in anticipation of the raids.
In Lahore, police raided PPP’s Lahore office in Baghbanpura, party office of Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly, Mian Qasim Zia and Naveed Chaudhry, but leaders managed to slip away from the scene. The raids were also carried out at the residences of PPP’s Punjab Finance Secretary, Aurangzeb Burki, Dr. Ziaullah Bangash, Zikria Butt and Iqbal Sialvi.
PPP’s Lahore Secretary Information, Zikria Butt said that dozens of party activists including Allah Nawaz Sial, Mian Abdul Khaliq, Zia Nagra, Ch Yaqoob Kamana, Javed Iqbal, Anwarul Haq, Muhammad Arshad Nadeem Shah, Liaquat Ansari, Mushtaq Shah, K.D Rana, Shaukat Ali Qureshi, Asif Rehmani, Mushtaq Shah, Ejaz Mirza, Muhammad Jamil and Basharat Siddiqui, have been arrested from Lahore alone.
The PML (N) MNA, Khawaja Saad Rafique also came up with a similar claim when The Nation contacted him to know the factual position regarding the number of arrests of party workers from Lahore. A late night Press release issued by media office of the PML (N) said that dozens of party activists including Jawad Akhtar Butt, Dilbar Shah, Arshad Sindu, Shuja Butt, Asim Mustafa, Haji Iqbal, Nadeem Akhtar, Billa Taironwala, Jamshed Butt, Zaheer Bajwa, Sadaqat Khan, Azmat Panda, Nishan Ali and Mubashir Zulfiqar, have been arrested and detained at City police stations.
Police raided and ransacked the meeting place (dera) of PML (N)’s Punjab Vice President and member Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhamamd Afzal Khokar, and arrested Malik Amjad and Shahid Ali from there, the release further claimed.
The police also launched crackdown against MMA activists at the time of Fajr prayers. Police forced their entry into the residences of Town Nazim of Jamat-i-Islami, Haji Abdul Jalil and UC Nazim Ziauddin Ansari and arrested them.
Dozens of other MMA activists were also arrested from several localities.
Meanwhile, MMA leader Qazi Hussain Ahmad, PPP leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi and PML (N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique have condemned police raids and arrests of their political activists.
In their separate Press statements, they have termed these arrests totally unjustified and uncalled for. The govt , they said, has got unnerved seeing its imminent collapse as a result of the successful mass movement of the Opposition parties.

Govt to target print media next
ISLAMABAD: The government is planning to introduce another law to restrict publication of “objectionable” cartoons and editorial comments in national and regional newspapers, Daily Times learnt on Tuesday. Sources said that the National Security Council (NSC), which met here with President General Pervez Musharraf on Monday, had decided to promulgate an ordinance to restrict publication of objectionable cartoons or articles in newspapers and magazines that may defame the armed forces or other state institutions. This follows the government introducing amendments in the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Ordinance 2002 on Monday, placing restrictions on electronic media. The NSC has directed the Law and Justice Ministry to draft the ordinance restricting print media, sources said. Inter-Provincial Coordination Minister Salim Saifullah Khan presented the idea of holding phased elections in the country, which was rejected for fear of angering opposition political parties. Sources said the NSC said the general elections would be held on time, while the president vowed not to support any political party or individual found responsible for the violence in Karachi. naveed siddiqui

Excerpt from the BBC`s profile of Musharaff:
The Delhi-born son of an Urdu-speaking family that migrated to Pakistan after the partition of the Indian sub-continent in 1947 has survived numerous assassination attempts and plots - the latest in December 2003.
But he is facing an increasing number of challenges on the domestic front - especially rising prices of fuel and food - as well as continuing extremism.
Sectarian violence between Sunni and Shia Muslims also simmers on.
General Musharraf will also be only too aware of Pakistan`s old complaint of being picked up and then rapidly forgotten by the US once its strategic interests shift.
Pakistan today sits in the shadow of an increasingly blossoming relationship between the US and India, its battle against militancy continues unabated and it was recently labelled in an American study as a ``failed state``.
President Musharraf may reflect that while he may have made progress in economic growth, the country`s many problems show no signs of disappearing.
The only saviour for Pure Land...........
A Delhiwallah........

Re: # 12
It is unbelivable when people start looking for ``ONE`` person to save nation. May be you can not save such people as they are always waiting to be saved.Specially a failure politician appealing to most animal intinct of race against Urdu speaking leader in London.
In jungle dominant animal protect their field by their own leadership while its strange ``Big Khan`` wants to start legal action in london. Why he does not start leagal action in back home? What and Why UK govt will do or can do. Altaf is political leader and guiding his party what is problem in that. Now there is nothing wrong to be in exile it is tradition of many world leaders. BB and NS are both in london and directing their party , there is nothing wrong then why people single out MQM. Answer is complex and simple as ``Fair`` skinned feudal leaders can not tolerate the leader who is dark skined and who is not slave and who has great sexual character. Please note MQM HQ has directed followers not to ``raise`` morality questions, morality does not count when you are ``big Leader``. The leaders teach by action and not by words. BB and NS are moral persons in this matter. But I think in politics personal behaviour is not important and MQM should understand and accept personal morality and political morality are not to be same. Unfortunately Altafbhai does not differentiate between personal and political morality.
This law was necessary as many respected newspeople have lost professional ethics, they are taking part in politics. Recently in news report story Ms. Sarwar openly sided against Urdu Leadership. Newspeople are supposed to report story not give opinion specially political. Also when little naughty boys make trouble the father has to apply pressure and decipline to maintan house peace. Newspeople are getting wild and only interested in ``Sensentional things``, no report on progress under last 9 years when USA was about to declare failed state. Now every big man with money wants to put money in Karachi Stock market, hottest after china and leaving india poor last destination for foreign money.
Newspapers men and women want freedom and General gave them but with that comes ``RESPONSIBILITY`` but they do not want that. They do not acre and go on challenging and demeaning army which led to outburst by one prominent politician saying these people should be lined by arabian see and shot and fed to Sharks in sea. They are provokating situation where strict army take our may be needed. These trouble makers feel situation is bad but later they they are going to find they are going to hell road if General is Disposed by some trouble makers. Stop politics and report truthfully.
Good day everybody. Liberals are going to destroy good country by playing politics. How it will be better if politics banned for next 2 and everybody works 80hours per week and concentrate only on money making, country can be eading light of developing nations. Such sad miserable article. Good day.

``no report on progress under last 9 years when USA was about to declare failed state. ``
Mr Ahmed, have you been skipping your medicines again! Read this from the BBC news;
Pakistan `is a top failed state`
Pakistan`s `plunge`
Pakistan moved from 34th last year to ninth in the new report - one of the sharpest changes in the overall score of any country on the list.
The contributing factors were Pakistan`s inability to police the tribal areas near the Afghan border, the devastating earthquake in Kashmir and rising ethnic tensions, the report said.
Afghanistan, ranked 10th, faces different problems from Iraq, which despite the presence of US-led troops came fourth, the report said.
Educated exiled Afghans had been slow to go home following the ousting of the Taleban in 2001, but poor refugees had returned from Pakistan and Iran in large numbers, the study said.
``The result is a capital city busting at the seams but short of trained administrators.``
The authors cite India as an example of a state which has pulled back from the brink, saying that in the 1970s analysts predicted dire consequences as a result of population growth, economic mismanagement, poverty and corruption.
Now, they say, India today has turned itself around and might have the edge over China (ranked 57) in the long run.
Pauline Baker, president of the Fund for Peace, told the Associated Press news agency that India had greater social mobility and was more decentralised than its more populous neighbour.
