Filmed mainly in Pune (Poona) India, the Karachi that many of us know is almost completely absent from this movie.

The image of a lawless country, consumed by violence and chaos is once again being promoted in this film.

Umm...maybe the image is true..which is why they had to shoot it in pune...

The compassionate heart of Karachi is missing here.

As is the fact that the person in jail for the murder, Omar Saeed Sheikh, had significant links to the ISI and was doing your jihadi bidding in India before he was released in the hostage swap..

What is more sad is the fact that a Pakistani or Muslim audience would feel as indifferent towards it as an American audience does to the pictures of Abu Ghariab or towards the mangled burnt out corpses in the streets of Baghdad.

I think it is a war time propaganda movie directed mostly at local American audience than a global audience and so shall it be perceived as such.

Of course I do, a real one too...not everyone has the luxury of a job where you get to teach stuff with no practical value....

At a human level, a young woman is widowed and child will grow up without a dad.

A very nice write up, Siddiqui Sahib.

[... With our common origins of beliefs, let us highlight our commonality and not our differences...]

When the ``beliefs`` themselves are the source of the problem, highlighting the ``commonality`` ain`t going to work...

that would be a retort if posting comments was the job I was paid to do...now you just look retarded...like your post about the SCOTUS ruling on race based admissions and the IA girl....

Re: # 10

Clearly you are not being paid to post your anti Pakistan diatribes, hence my concern about your ongoing unemployment....

clearly a person who can`t understand an article she posted or understand the simple meaning of a sCOTUS ruling shouldn`t be in a position where she teaches other people...

which college would want spreading ignorance one student at a time to be their motto?

I`ll lift my ignore shield temporarily, just long enough to remind you that as usual you have missed the bigger picture. as for my students, they have intimate knowledge of a system demarcated with so many tiers it rivals Dante`s circle of hell.

ramblings about irrelevant topis doesn`t change the fact that you totally missed what the latest SCOTUS ruling meant for the plight of the Indian girl..your implication that the SCOTUS ruling hurt her case was so way off the mark it would be funny if you weren`t entrusted with imparting knowledge to the next generation of starbucks baristas...

Re: # 14

arjun baba.

you are absolutely correct. students of color should uniformly cheer that one ``Indian American`` daughter of a doctor can now attend a public school for gifted children. they should all cheer because the recent supreme court ruling has now found against policies meant at integrating school districts in the effort of providing the majority of ``American`` school children with a diverse peer body. they should cheer because working class white and of color ``American`` children will now be boundaried into their educational ghettos while affluent white and honorary white (south african apartheid term for Japanese visitors, agents in SA) Indian ``Americans`` will get to have ``their`` schools and ``their futures``, to hell with the country and its issues of of racism and classsism in the educational system.

Real visionary of you Arjun, the gordon gekko philosophy of ``i got mine, fuck you``.

yes..schools will be segregated as they should be...they`ll be segregated on the basis of people who are worthy of getting in and those who are not...if american children want to compete with kids in india and china who put in a lot more effort, there`s no other way but meritocracy...
