I wonder though, where were the suicide bombers, mines, booby traps, heavy weapons which Musharraf used as an excuse to go in there but Ghazi denied all along? Seems he was telling the truth.

Re: # 565 zeemax, a sad end - loss of life is sad - but the writ of the state had to run (it dont matter who heads the state - state is the state that is forever, rest are just transcient entities). BUt what is curious, isthe fact that many of the jihadis seem to be suffering ``The 1857 Syndrome`` (thanks Urstruly for this and the picture) - your #565 is a reflection of this.
Unfortunately the rot started even before that - but then Mir Jafar is a hero!

Well all the men fought to the last bullet, just as they had promised. Rashid Ghazi was wounded but stsill didn`t accept offer to surrender and was killed. Whatever girls remain now, will carry on the movement. Hamidm is right about that.

BBC Reports that Rashid Ghazi has been killed...........
My request to all like-minded human beings is that a large number of children have been exposed not only to a virulent ideology but more importantly to the trauma of the past one week...........
They desperately need professional counselling services......right now........to give them a chance to be normal adults..........
Any initiative in this matter would be most welcome.........
please do let me have your views.........

((((all those miserable lives are not worth one dead pakistani soldier)))
Chooray......why are you so concrened about pakistani soldiers when you hate the ideology they are supposed to fight for??Its none of your Mussalli business what pakistani soldiers and fundamentalist are up to....Just don`t interfere in our internal matters....I have already told you in my #318 that by ridiculing islam you wont get your favourite bottle of gao-muttar.
Just go and think about making a new flavour of `ice cream` with your mussalli brain. We are tired of that old flavour.

the serpent`s egg ...........
......... when i made the statement that a 5000 pound bomb should be dropped on the snake pit, many had jumped up and forced me to reconsider my statement .......... even i thought it was a bit extreme and, truth be told, i was a little ashamed of my insensitivity ...... now, in retrospect, i think i was right the first time around ....
.......... it is a shame and a crime that innocent security forces people had to die because they wanted to save women who will now go out to bear more jihadis, and children who will grow up to become bloody murderers ........... all those miserable lives are not worth one dead pakistani soldier .........
.......... `` think of him as a serpent`s egg, which, hatched, would as his kind, grow mischievous, and kill him in the shell.``

Yasser:
A very balanced analysis.
However, for now the world is seeing as something major being put out in the capital of Islamabad. Don`t you think that common wisdom now is that Musharaff`s chips are high, a few months before the elections, who can challenge and win?

You`ve been repeating this mantra for years. Meanwhile KSE 100 crossed 14000 yesterday and KSE 30 crossed 17000 ....
So looks like the erstwhile Indian pipedream of seeing Pakistan whither away... is going to be a pipedream after all.

Re: # 535 Ahmed Madani
Madani Sahib:
You are right. Friedman is a Jew! That completely explains the narrative! Not only that, The New York Times is owned by a Jewish family. Here is what it published today (excerpts):
QALAI SAYEDAN, Afghanistan, July 9 — With their teacher absent, 10 students were allowed to leave school early. These were the girls the gunmen saw first, 10 easy targets walking hand-in-hand through the blue metal gate and on to the winding dirt road.
The staccato of machine-gun fire pelted through the stillness. A 13-year-old named Shukria was hit in the arm and the back, and then teetered into the soft brown of an adjacent wheat field. Zarmina, her 12-year-old sister, ran to her side, listening to the wounded girl’s precious breath and trying to help her stand.
But Shukria was too heavy to lift, and the two gunmen, sitting astride a single motorbike, sped closer.
As Zarmina scurried away, the men took a more studied aim at those they already had shot, killing Shukria with bullets to her stomach and heart.
End quote
Such nihilistic, animal behavior has become the norm in the Muslim world. We are getting increasingly numbed, that hundreds of such stories no longer make the headlines. Imagine, killing a 13-year old school girl who wanted to go to school!

Indians really need to get a hold of themselves...
I am in Islamabad... in my home, more or less 3 kilometres away from the Lal Masjid battle and the only disturbance of peace I am feeling is from the workers double paning the windows of my house...
Granted that these people in the mosque were Pakistan Army`s own old operatives from the Afghan War and the ``Jehad`` against communism... but seriously what is it that has happened?
A bunch of fundos got up... and tried to bite the hand that fed them... the hand that fed them has now strangled them.
Giving us moralistic lectures of ``as you sow, so shall you reap`` is ridiculous... if anything Pakistan Army and ISI has demonstrated that it can create monsters and then kill them with relative ease. If anything... the events of last one week have shown that Islamic fundamentalists have no sympathy from general public... and that the spectre of talibanisation of Pakistan and the great forces of Islamic revolution and the jehadi monster about eat Pakistan up was PAPER THREAT.
Ayaz Amir and Imran Khan were right in so much when they said that there is no talibanisation possible in Pakistani society...and Pakistan Army is the valve that controls the jehadi flow so to speak.
