Yes they could have stayed out of range, but certainly you don`t fight wars out of range. When Col. Haroon came in their sights, they killed him. I`m not denying Col. Haroon`s bravery, but I won`t call him shaheed.

#622 zeemax: agreed - but a conjecture based on solid facts. namely, that after more than 20 people getting killed, mullah rashid faced death by hanging as his only viable option. If he didnt care about his own life, he should have cared for the lives of those among his former followers who would have gotten out of this alive if he had allowed them to leave.

As for the army, yes I agree. They did prolong it expecting a wholesale surrender, which never came.

Yes the Government story is he was killed laying explosives at the boundary wall. That is BS. He was killed by a sniper while sticking his head out of the APC top inspecting the situation.
