Nonsense! This is public space, and as such, we need to fight for our words and ideas to circulate freely in it. Thoseo who have garbage in their heads should be free to expose that--it is the rets of us who can and should see it for what it is and dismiss it.
I stand behinf my right to say what I need to say. Hopefully, there are intellignet and non-sexist folks out there (yes, even in Pakistan!)--who can apprecaite and critique what women like me have to say without falling into the gutter.

Believe me, any woman posting intelligent ideas will be dragged through the gutter-her punishment for daring to transcend the mediocrity of this website.

Stop Lying, Neembu.
By the way, why don`t you boycott Chowk for a change. That in itself would do a lot to raise the standards of Chowk quite a bit.

Though the article lengthy, it`s not boring but very interesting. It`s interesting as it`s done a few days b4 this historic event of the Operations Silence.
Seen in the backdrop of the full canvas of Pakistan, it`s a small event but a first step towards cleaning- up jihadism from Pakistan. However if we see it from the pov of Musharraf`s record it`s a commando action with no logical purpose but to take revenge for the vengeful acts of Lal Masjid and it`s sister concerns.
Operation Silnce is a flsh in the pan. Wish it`s not!

What I find amazing is how Pak goverment is playing footsie with the Islamic radicals...giving them month after month to change their position...talk after talk..communciation after communication..messenger after messenger, negotiation after negotiation..just because these are islamic radicals...no other dissenting group in Pakistan history has ever gotten such royal treatment..not bengalis, not Balochi leftists, not balochi tribalists, not mohajjirs...none. Message is clear, as long as you bark religious sermons and rhetoric, we will treat you better and give every chance to not confront you...even when you are responsible for getting 20 people killed, we will try not to hurt you but worry about where you and your old mother are going to be living.

Neembu,
In #18 you welcome Fawzia Khan and in #95 you advice her against writing for Chowk. Please make up your mind and do something right for once, otherwise you strengthen the male point that women are unfit to think for themselves.
your sister in sistahood.

Stuka Sahib,
Are you claiming that you did NOT post a ``hysterical laughter`` ikaaan after ali`s comment that Dr. Afzal-Khan looks like a porn star?

Dear S.,
I`m afraid I`m not concerned about what chowk namards think about women. I am however concerned at the culture of sexual harrassment enabled at chowk, and I am not the only female interactor here who is tired of it.

Have we seen this article or something like it elsewhere?
Further,
(1) In future, please be merciful with the length of your submissions to Chowk. Chowk editors don`t have time to read. Sometimes we, the captive audience, like to read.
(2) Don`t drag gutter into the gutter. It`s our domicile.

Zeemax Sahib:
Humanity does not stop at the boundary of a religion. The time of gun totting part being sanctioned by any religion is over. Both believers and non-believers will not tolerate any longer, and will cooperate. Therefore, Mullah dream of grabbing power in Pakistan is not real. The sooner gun-totters wake out of their worst nightmare, the better it is for all.
This violent gun totting part will be purged in your life time by none other than your own compatriots and believers.
Musharraff`s steps point to a beginning, what he is doing, in my view, will ensure what even the practitioners of violence in the name of Islam call peaceful Islam will emerge. The sooner this message is understood by such practitioners and they relearn their Koran, the better will be, or they should be ready to be marginalized to remote areas where they won`t bother anyone and no one will bother them. There have been white movement groups in the U.S., only time they got wiped out were, when they blew up Murrah building in Oklahoma and like.
In this case choice is yours and intellectuals like you, Echo and Urstruly to guide sense into Mullahs. Fawzia`s of the world will go into the center of such den and bring out a peek for all others. Next time some will go with a hidden camera and recorder inside those brain-washing machines.

The only reason zeemax has been reticent about using his full repertoire of weapons in this fight is that he is still bogged down a little in his dharati prem and dharati dharma.
Were Islamists to follow the methods they have followed in other countries, they can be more effective, and ultimately succeed quicker.

Hamid Sahib,
Do you not see the parrallels b/n the Lal Masjid and FP? A bunch of self important middle aged men laying claim to the world and ridiculing women who contradict their world view?
In making the interactors here ``look bad``, I barely need to lift a finger. :)
