To me, the only jarring note in this otherwise well-written piece is the `Scotland of the East` phrase used to describe the place.Sikkim has its own uniqueness and so does Scotland I am sure, so why make one sound like a copy of the other?
Most of these phrases originated after being uttered by some moth-eaten European during the Raj.
Kochi...Venice of the East
or
Some industrial town up North is referred to as the Manchester of the East and so on, ad nauseum.
Other than that, this is an interesting article.
