You may wish to add the following postscript: As a military general, you should know that the true test of generalship is not so much in victory as in making an orderly retreat - in other words, a proper exit strategy. You obviously came to power without an exit strategy, and obviously love the pomp and fame too much to care about the long-term damage you are doing to the nation with each passing year of your shenanigans. And so, like dictators before you, you are doomed to cling to power until disgraced and forced to exit.

#80 by tahmed32,
He does have an honorable exit, at-least to the extent of shedding the uniform, in the shape of Benazir as PM and he the president. Would that arrangement be acceptable to you?

#82 by tahmed32,
This arrangement gives him an exit from the military dictatorship and an (ostensibly) ceremonial position while restoring the constitution in full with an elected PM in place. The deal has already been done. Wouldn`t that be an exit? Would you accept that?

this is the story that accompanied the picture posted by zeemax, our resident taliban spokesman
the day the music died
KHAAR (Bajaur Agency), July 13: Local traders closed their shops on Friday in response to a call from the local Taliban. All shops, banks and other business centres remained closed. A banker told Dawn that all bank branches had been instructed to observe Friday as weekly holiday.
Meanwhile, the local Taliban held six people on the charge of taking drugs and paraded them naked in a bazaar in Inayat Killey. About 40 armed Taliban addressed people on the occasion.
They asked the people to be prepared for jihad.
They sought local people’s help in curbing crimes and anti-Islamic activities in the area.
They also warned against listening to music, drinking liquor and using drugs and said violators would be given punishment in line with Islamic injunctions.
CDs and cassettes allegedly seized from the area were destroyed on the occasion.

#83 zeemax: As long as Mush does not have proper elections for President (not ``referendums`` and not fake elections by existing majority as he plans to do), he remains in power as unelected President. I dont see any exit from dictatorship here. Also, with BB, Mush will merely replace one powerless prime minister with another, and one with proven incompetence and demonstrated dishonesty.

Dedicated to the guest Mujahideen of Jamia Hafsa, who valiantly fought till their last breath, never gave up despite the odds, and irrigated the soil of Lal Masjid with their blood. May they rest in eternal Peace!

(The ones in the foreground are Waziristan fighters and well-trained, as one can tell from their firmly planted feet and rigid firing positions)

Don`t despair. The local Taliban was always there. They never had the power. It is not the Taliban one needs to worry about - but their secret admirers (including this writer with her crocodile tears, perhaps) who think that countering the Taliban is dead wrong but what the Talibans do is something they can live with and comfortably look away from.
The fate of the Taliban is well-determined.
If you don`t know - try to remember Afghanistan of five years ago. And yes, I know they have not disappeared - they are very much around.
Like Herpes, these folks - once they grow into the skin of a nation - will always be around - but they will fail to kill the body itself!

No no ... this time he will be elected `strictly` according to constitution ... i.e. no referendum. The assemblies will vote for him. Will you accept him then?

#88 if mush was sincere about his exit as dictator, he would have the assembly elections precede president`s election. That is one the issue on which the chief justice is rightly challenging him. The other issue of course is the ``disappearings`` of people without habeas corpus. Unless these issues are addressed, there is no exit of dictatorship.

Particularly the one on the left. That`s a classic urban combat stance.

#90 if there is a hail of bullets, why is that crowd behind them not hiding behind a tree like these two filmee heroes?

#91 by tahmed32,
I see ... and what about disappearing dead bodies? Or are you only against disappearing live ones?
BTW, the election of President preceding election of the assemblies is perfectly constitutional as it stands now.
