Check out the Washington Post Outlook section which is dedicated to articles on muslim society written by muslims (Jay Prakash Thakeray to please take two tranquilizers, put on his straitjacket, and sit down somewhere before he starts reading).

hamidm: Thanks for excluding me from your list of "suit-wearing maulvis". "My" Islam is far from "useless" as you say. This is why:
1. Instead of surrendering my faith to ghoondas, as you have, I retain my faith and kick these rogues out.
2. I have peace of mind because I am being honest with myself when I consider myself a muslims, and have a reasonable basis for my beliefs.
3. I have peace of mind because I know that the religion of my people is a good religion that teaches universal values and has a positive message. It is not the self-serving tricks and short-cuts to heaven that power-hungry bearded politicians and bearded ghoondas seek to make it. I dont need to take a sip from the bottle to feel good about myself (OK, this is a cheap shot, which I am permitted once in a while).

Hamidm,
AS noted below, the anti terrorism court is still there, so is the sharia court that is the final arbitrator of the laws in pakistan.
What one pakistani has posted about terror courts is part of the white washing, as you would say, putting lipstick on the donkey
RAWALPINDI: Lal Masjid Khateeb Maulana Abdul Aziz, his spouse Umm-e-Hassaan and two daughters, Tayyaba Dua and Asma Aziz, who were presented before a special anti-terrorist court here on Saturday, were sent to a rest house (sub-jail) in Islamabad on 14-day judicial remand.

Light at the end
For a very long time pakistanis had nothing to celebrate, now the great mushy has given them something. To begin with in no other country could a CJ be casked like that. Now what is so obvious and ridiculous has been declared as stupid by the supreme court and the pakistanis are celebrating, they are seeing this as a great achievement. Not even the great Zia did something this stupid.
Take it from me my dear pakistanis, what you have seen is no light at the end of the tunnel, it is simply a firefly, the real light of the train is some way away.
If the CJ can prevent mushy from becoming the president again, that would be something, and no legal system in pakistan can prevent it.

What has gone into you, Sir? Your post is totally uncharacteristic and unbecoming of you. Please re-read some verbiage you wrote:
{First of all I would like to SALUTE salute the whole community of lawyers and principled members of judiciary community on their principled stand and for their well deserved victory over corrupt generals and and an amoral ruling class.}
How can you respect the lawyers? They are trained to be rational thinkers, whereas you Sir, you have always touted to be a believer.
{This is a victory over vicious oppressing class that would not hesitate masaraing school children just to keep their oppressive rule over innocent people of Pakistan.}
And now you are taking a line from the masadi complex. Are you advocating class warfare?
{If amrika is somehow involved in this then so be it, amrika ki maaM ki kuss; this is our victory and it is no time to be skeptical. A victory dance is in order instead.}
You sound like a true peshawari nuswaar khor being confused on your values.
{I have a dream. I have a dream that one day that day would come when our judiciary will be the judiciary of the people. I yearn for the day when honorable walls of judiciary will echo with these words "This court by the power vested in it by the People of Pakistan finds the defendents b/c, m/c, and kuss-madar who have been calling themselves Genral, Corps Commandaer, and Lt. General in strict violation of Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan guilty of treason, violation of the Constitution, and crimes against the people of Pakistan. Therefore, this court orders them to face the firing squad in a public place" Amin. I have a dream. }
Array bhai, you are yearning for law and order in Pakistan. Law and Order instead of Sharia? Why? Law and order would destroy your favorite "ism", that you have been promoting for so many years.
O! BTW, please don't forget that those "Ooons" are no Buffoons.

anil #: "Indira Gandhi also lost in the Supreme Court, and yet turned out to be one of the most courageous leader of the time for India. She too made a lot and really a lot of enemies, and paid the ultimate price for the leadership...."
there is a big difference between Indira Gandhi and Musharraf......Indira Gandhi was a politician and had a gigantic votebase of followers.....Musharraf has no followers, now, other than the very tiny westernised elite and some expats, who want him to bomb maulvis......
.....musharraf is there, only due to his uniform......and to, some extent, the support of the usa......both these items are contrary to the interest of pakistan.....
......there are actually quite a few leading politicians in pakistan who would make good prime ministers......let me throw out some names......imran khan from pti.....aitezaz ahsan from ppp (the lead lawyer for the cj case).....yusuf gilani of ppp (jailed for four and a half years by musharraf, without bail, without being convicted).......umer asghar khan was another one i liked (died mysteriously in his house)......i would even, reluctantly, put nawaz sharif's brother shahbaz sharif here......
there is more to being a successful leader than killing people in pakistan, on behalf of the usa, and westernizing the country.......
the policies musharraf is pursuing are putting pakistan on the track of iraq........
......if you feel he is still the best choice, he should lead his party as a civilian and participate in elections, and get elected.......for that he would have to wait two years, as govt. servants cannot participate in elections for two years, after retirement.....
......the unfortuante part is that he has stuck around so long that we will be back to ns and bb now.......

Great advice. First, the General must get rid of the MQM who are partners in his government. We must never forget the killings of over 40 people in Karachi on May 12 by the goons of the MQM.

Nazir Naaji is writing, unknowingly to himself, the best comic column.
I hope you read athar abbas & javaid chaudhry's account of the Sharif escapades in London...the story about 12th October & Nazir Naajis PaajipUN in the PM house that day is stomach-rolling. Read if you haven't www.express.com.pk.
drop "column" window.
It is the best paper today.
English language dailies are for the ignorant, jaahil and those from the lower class like tchuhuua32s & hamidm2s.

YLH deserves gratitude from readers for talikg to international media he was very profound in his response. What I liked he correctly pointed to BBC man all muslim world is looking at as pakistan is natural leaders of Ummah and it will have profound echo all over muslim world.
Although I feel general was misled by prime minister recently in many cases including sale of Pakistan steel meill at throw away prices. He needs to weed out corroupt and imcompitant advisors who are damaging him and army in process. His advisors are terrible. Legal advicer Brilliant Barristor Pirzadah failed first time in his case.

Echoboom,
Have you read Nazir Naji's column in Jang titled "Jhootay Khawab"? Nothing more shows the depression and deafeat these ex-commies and motherates feeling at this moment at the victory of the people of Pakistan. I wish I could post it here but Chow staff Nazis wouldn't let us.

Encouraged by Musharraf's raushan-khayali PulaaOs, the khusraas & heejrRaas on the streets of all major cities of Pakistan, had taken the cue that from hence onwards the instead of the rifle-butt , it would be the homo-butt which will the new WMD of Pakistan.
No wonder that the ones with the butt-itche have a hatred for anything Islam and muslims.
