Of-course you don't find anything wrong with the ad campaign in madras because you're all homos.

... also there's no separate word for it because it is your accepted practice and none is needed.

bjkumar #89: I was merely responding to your question concerning whether it was Islam that was preventing muslims from learning from others by pointing to the examples from history and the leadership in science provided by muslims societies as evidenced by the large number of arabic words that form the root of many scientific disciplines in English. Even if this goes against any preconceived notions you may have, I dont see how you can take this to mean that I was "upset" at something (perhaps it was references to you as "esteemed colleague", which was meant in a humorous manner and not in a sarcastic manner, I should clarify).
Will read the rest of your post and get back with additional comments if any.

Zeemax,
Like a typical pakistani why are you making this into a personal attack. I was only talking about human practices, origin of words and the likes. Also the word bhenchod and a possible interpretation for the pak practice of marriage of first cousins.
By the way, do you no that there is hardly any abusive words in Thai language, They never abuse one another, when they are angry, they suppress it and one day come and shoot the person.
According to Sigmond Frued, the first person who threw an abuse at another instead of stone is the founder of civilization. That si where the problem lies for pakistanis, teh words like bhenchod and gaandu are no more abuses, they have become factuals.

bjkumar #89: Regarding the rest of your post, I fully agree with it, and I think you have hit the nail on the head when you write I personally believe that the problem is not in any particular religion but more in the mind-set.
With respect to your question at the end: what gives the maulvi such powers? , I think the answer is simple: kingships (or their modern form, military dictatorships). If you are not convinced, I have discussed this in the response to folio in my post #127

Ther're separate words for these practices in Urdu because these are considered unnatural. There're no seperate words for these in hindu lingo because these are perfectly natural for you people ...
