Why can't you end your seemingly endless vendetta? Why are you guys bent upon screwing up the quality of an article on an important issue by your meaningless posts which have nothing to do with the contents of the article you seem to be discussing? You have fought your vendetta on the site of almost every article without any useful result. Please restrain your discussion to the contents of the original article.

As long as there is Pakistani/Muslim bashing by hindu monkeys is on this thread, this will go on.

Criticism by Muslims is fine, but these dirty hindus should go fck themselves and look after their own hell-hole called bharat.

What is the use of having rules that are not rigidly enforced? Chowk is like India where they have all kinds of nice laws from traffic to bribery to environment with supposedly severe consequences for violation. Yet, the offenders are rarely punished and, so, they are violated almost universally. On the other hand, although the desi mentality is the same, traffic rules on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway are rigidly enforced, so you will see very few violators.

If chowk really started to enforce its rules with a policy of zero tolerance, people will start respecting those rules. The administrators have themselves to blame for the low standards of discourse at this site, which should have an adult-content warning prominently displayed on it.

Pakistan's Musharraf vows to crush Islamic militancy

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - President Pervez Musharraf made a fresh pledge on Friday to eradicate Islamic extremism from Pakistan, as the latest incident in a wave of militant violence left four rebels dead.

Military ruler Musharraf, who faces US threats of unilateral action against Al-Qaeda insurgents in Pakistan's tribal areas, made the vow at a meeting of chiefs in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, a statement said.

"Extremism and militancy are the biggest threat to security of our country and no effort shall be spared to eradicate this menace and ensure sustainability of economic progress," the statement quoted Musharraf as saying.

The president -- who is also army chief and seized power in a coup in 1999 -- and other top military officers were briefed on the security situation in the tribal areas and other parts of northwest Pakistan, it said.

Amid growing international pressure on Musharraf to take military action against Islamists, the statement said that the meeting reviewed the "operational preparedness" of the army.

More than 200 people have been killed in militant-related bloodshed since Pakistan troops stormed the radical Red Mosque in the capital Islamabad on July 10-11, leaving scores of Islamic rebels dead.

On Friday, a bomb exploded near an army convoy coming from the northwestern town of Bannu to the tribal district of North Waziristan, where pro-Taliban militants tore up a peace deal with the government on July 15, officials said.

"After the IED (improvised explosive device) exploded, which caused no damage to the security forces convoy, militants also resorted to firing. In the ensuing clash four militants were killed," an army statement said.

Four AK-47 assault rifles, six grenades and radio sets were also recovered from the militants, it added.

Residents said helicopter gunships also flew overhead during the fighting.

Earlier rebels fired three rockets at a major army base in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan. Troops responded to the rocket attack with heavy weapons fire. Again, there were no immediate reports of casualties.

anything negative about pakis or pakiland, however true, is automatically treated as an attack on islam and muslims...

My comments were not directed at Hindus, Muslim, Indians or Pakistanis but at chowk administrators, it is for them and not for you or I to ensure that their guidelines are respected.

The problem with hindus in particular and bhartis in general is they are beyghairat slave-minded people. They always need to be kicked in the butt to keep them in line. That's why they appeal to chowkstaff to enforce whatever guidelines. These category of people don't understand what self-regulation is.

Only responsible and free people can regulate themselves.
