cobes, don't give jang such an easy time :)
Everyone knows that no police in the world is truly professional. Certainly Pakistani police or police in any Muslim country is not.
So the argument and the complaint here is completely different.

no police in the world is truly "professional", and to expect indian police, which are extention of the state political machinary is not something possible. the political will eventually gets the police to act. after the riots and the bombs, the police were ordered to make sure that riots dont happen. the police complied by formation of a special RAF (rapid-action force) squads, which can shot-up at any place within 10 minutes, armed to the teeth with automatic weapons and somewhat armoured cars. there were attempts at forming more riots afterwards also, but these RAF vans made sure that it does not happen. but ultimately it was political will of the govt which got this done.
since these riots are not civil wars between communities, such police action is sufficient, esp considering the "rioters" are not armed with serious weapons.
in short, the congress govt (which controlled police) that time calculated wrong and did not press police and that is how the riot got out of hand. as riot develops, political opportunity materializes, that is the simple fact.

Kaal, like I said, you are too smart for me. Not sure what are you hinting at when you say,
"If Indians are going to beat this horse and themselves over this sort of stuff, why would he not encourage the show? "

Let us not turn everything into an India Vs Pakistan match. I am certain that intelligent interactors can have rational discussion.
Perhaps it would be wiser to look for faults within rather than blame the other country. The blame would definitely be distributed both ways. Only the degrsee wold be different.
In some ways, how I wish Pakistan could be like India. In some other ways, how I wish Pakistan did not have these nefarious coefficients attached to it so prominently. In a third set of ways, I wish the Indian system did not have many shortcomings & social evils.
But then,
may be it is the VAT69 that clogs my brain....
or "if wishes were..."
Peace everybody.

Cobes, one thing you can definitely say about nyc is that he is a very intelligent brother :) So let's not blame him, rather admire him. If Indians are going to beat this horse and themselves over this sort of stuff, why would he not encourage the show? :)
Hey, justice now! And forever :)

What about 1992?
It is the same system that allows muslim criminals like mukhatar ansari, shahabuddin , sorabuddin , the entire criminal family of dawood ibrahim and all those thousands of muslim gangsters to thrive on the indain soil.
Ask, what about all those criminal mullahs who have raised bounty over the heads of apostates like Taslima Nasrin and are still roaming around scot free.
What about all those SIMI activists who are involved in the bomb blasts but are given shelter by Pakistanis?
What about all those jehadi criminals that is being nurtured and bred by Pakistanis in their camps?
What about all of them?

NY, Asking us Hindus to be in harmony with Muslims is antithesis of TNT. You will be a hypocrite even to suggest that.

This is a shame for Indian Justice system when Muslim criminals get punished but the Hindu criminals remains the top leadership of the country...Advani, Joshi, Uma, Thakery, Acharya all should be held responsible for the genocide of Indian Muslims in 92.
This is pure discrimination and by an interactor's word selective justice in Indian society.

Once you have professional force in place - the law enforcement is more or less automatic - political interference would be minimized to a great extent... I am looking at US police system as an example...
