Khalid,
without mentioning what the book says about sex education, your article is irrelevant for pakistan.
I posted an article from dawn of today on YLH thread, that cricket is on the decline in pakistan because the players rubbing the ball on their pants is considered obscene by the mullahs.
good luck to you

I would like to point out that this article is relevant world wide if not more so in places like Pakistan. We are all of the same species reading this and though sections of our world are culturally different our bodies still function the same.
I always have felt that religion is a method of control to satisfy the controller. Many parents restrict their children from forms of sexual activity which they when young may have participated in them as well. I know from my own experiences and now having teenage children it is a complicated time for them. Peer pressure from others as well as pressure from family and themselves in making the “right” decisions can be a dramatic experience. Sexual education has come along way in the school system in the western world and needs to continue to improve. Along with the facts of reproduction we also need to take a look at the emotion effects that this has on the youth of today. I know here in Canada that discussions of such topics are becoming more open in the home and school as well as the internet.

The writes more want to turn pakistan into sex free society..rather than doing anything positive....
Masturbation is haram..as hadees says..there is a curse on a man/woman doing this...
plus it weakens..mind power...soul..body powers..etc etc...
sex is only allowed with wife....nothing else...
writer should leave for Atlantis ..rather than to teach pakistanis about all this..

Re: # 1 Sex education should not be priority at all.
At this time education is necessasity, teachers, books, sitting benches, pencils, paper, drinking water and bathromm to go for natural calls, some lunch is needed. What is needed is atleast 60% youngs under 18 years should attend schools and including young girls. I do not understand but may be it is addressed to western situation. It appears when you are far away and in west slowly mind forgets what is situation on groud , out of site out of mind

drsab, i am somewhat ambivalent about clinical sex education, which demeystifies it. it takes out the fun out of playing doctor-doctor for our young..it in essence deprives them of their childhood and adolescence. after all sex has been practiced for 60000 years at least, so its not a new discovery.
you being a doctor youself should not advise others not to play doctor ;-)

" I hope we see a day when people in love are not afraid of moralistic laws and punitive traditions and feel free to grow in loving relationships. I believe growing together is better than growing alone."
Given the rest of your articel there is an inherent problem with this point of view. If we are not to pass judgement or reign in our sexual desires there would be no such thing as emotional commitment or loving relationships.
Religous laws or moral codes may be "against nature" but they are supposed to work towards making a better society ...ie one where there is emotional commitment and emphasis on family/society etc instead of a strict focus on personal pleasure.
I dont believe in lashing people for transgressions but i do think there is good reason behind religious rules.
Also the idea of sexual 'sin" or dirtyness isnt as prevalent in muslim societies as catholic ones. Sex is supposed to be enjoyable by muslim thought and both men and women have a right to expect a good time from each other....you just have to be married first :)

That's so nicely articulated. Now you understand why you are not an "S" & by an extension not a "K".
[ Now that every one here knows what they stand for, it is better to use these letters to get past the K-CHOWK STAFF..Zeemax & others please note)
THe agenda of the Psychilist & his pertners in this crime & sin is anti-Islam.
These one-eyed one's greatest joy would be to see the tehzeeb-yaftaa ones, from ALL religions, to become blind in both eyes.
They do not need baat, they need Laats. & maybe LaTThees but your baat is better than many many laats & LaaTTHhees.

In Pakistan and in any other Islamic country the sex education must be based on only two guiding principles;
1. Marriage is the only permitted way to have sex.
2. Do not do unto others' mothers, sisters, and wives as you would not like to have others do unto yours.

Re: # 5
dear ahmedmadani....to be honest my article about sexual education was originally inspired by my nephew living in pakistan who shared that he could not have an open and honest dicussion about sex and love with anyone. he was not in favour of arranged marriage with a stranger he did not know. he wondered how he could have sex with a woman he had never met and never had strong feelings for. he said he saw ads in newpapers and walls of streets stating that masturbation caused mental illness and blindness. he wondered whether that was true based on medicince and psychology. i believe for healthy loving relationships people need healthy education whether in the east or the west....sincerely sohail

Hello everyone, very good article from DR. Sohail. I would like to share some of websites which change my whole concept of sex.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/slink
http://www.bbc.co.uk/relationships/
http:// www.thesite.org
http://www.bbc.co.uk/parenting/
Now come to the questions raised my cliftonbridge, that religious laws are there to make society better, then my answer is, societies where sex education and sex is more open what you think about those socities, are they living like people living in Jungal, they have their rules and regulation on this and by opening this thing did not mean someone can jump on somebody.
By giving sex education what will happen, My question to all of you people is who out there don't know about sex, but what they know may not based on fact, and by giving them sex education they will know what is fact about sex, and i hope above given links will also help.

Great post ... but cliftonbridge, guess you weren't here when when I managed to get this same daagder cornered through my alleged (wink) trick questions into promoting incest as well ... and he did have a lot of support from others like him !!! As I recall , one of them was forced to admit he wouldn't mind that for his own sons and daughters if it was allowed by the state !!!

is sex OK if the consenting adults are real-siblings? if consent is the only criterion than why is incest wrong? i am personally against forced morality but merely 20-30 years ago west was vehemently prejudice against fruities...who is to say trailor-park alabamans won't be able to rally the crowds in washington and hollywod in next 20-30 years....would we than support incest as well?? if u take consent n run with it than where n why would? u stop?
If two men give consent to be married to one wife in the same house or vice-versa...why does state has a problem with it? i mean who deicdes whats right and whats wrong..is it the majority?
