Alas!!! our beloved Pakistan is dying in front of our eyes and last drops of blood are being sucked from its veins ..majority of the crowd is busy looting it and very few are sincere to it...it seems that this crowd is sick and their brains have been poisoned and they have been made hypocrits...they don't do what they preach and ugly egos will further destroy its innocent face, its assets, its few leftover trees, few green patches, few public service places for their selfish, greedy and never ending hungers..this crowd suffer from low self esteem and they have lost concept of honour and dignified survival among league of nations....deceivers cannot be sincere with any thing sublime, dignified and truthful on this earth..

But why on earth would you want Dr. A.Q. Khan, the metallurgist-turned-nuclear wizard to be an idol for Pakistanis, notwithstanding the fact that he remains a popular "national" hero for the gullible and nuclear-ignorant masses in Pakistan?

This guy must have been smoking something when he wrote this. If AQ Khan, who stole centrifuge designs can be considered a hero while Amanat who wowed a country of one billion with his singing talent cannot, then there is something seriously wrong with such Mr. Majeed.

Harishbhai,

(This guy must have been smoking something when he wrote this. If AQ Khan, who stole centrifuge designs can be considered a hero while Amanat who wowed a country of one billion with his singing talent cannot, then there is something seriously wrong with such Mr. Majeed.)

That's why these people consider you (and many of us other chowkies) as kanjaroooons!!!

Regards

"The odd and shocking thing is, that in "Islamic Republic of Pakistan", people are doing the same thing almost 1400 years after the pre-islamic days."

What nonsense!! Muslims need to get over their 'idol-phobia' and the kafir-phobia. There is nothing wrong in using idols to worship Gods.

Also, this thing about 'idols' is about icons/symbols of human endeavour like the Prophet who is also an icon/idol for the sunnis (although a perverse icon like the Hitler was for Nazis).

"Taking the issue farther, are musician (so-called marassis) the only people left on planet earth to be our idols? "

If all momeens were like mirasis the world would have been a wonderful place to live!!
Much better than trying to emulate a bandit and a rapist!!

Abdul saab,

The people like A.Q Khan are heroes, the idols that pakistanis worship are put up in the road inter sections, model of the shaheen missile, model of changi hills etc...and they are well and truly un-islamic.

Abdul saab,

You do not have to worry for long with the kind of un-islamic idol worship of music stars. Already, only 100 Km from islamabad, music shops are being bombed, and that should put an end to the music stars.

abdul majeed,

.......... did you write this 'essay' for your tenth grade english class ?..... you get an F for content and a C for style .......

..... mian jee, grow up .... there is nothing wrong with people going out and having fun - life is too short to waste on idiots like naom chomsky and aq khan ........ naom chomsky is a left wing looney who goes around screaming and making a fool out of himself - his nonsense has had little or no impact on the real world ....... aq khan is a criminal who betrayed his country's trust for personal gain - the man should have been executed like the rosenbergs ......... as for stephen hawkings, most kids wouldn't be able to get past the first page of 'a brief history of time' - it is boring stuff ......

.......... your sister is right - you are a moron and i pity her ........

What an absurd article.Amanat Ali is a very talented, upcoming singer. He vowed millions in India with his soulful singing. There was nothing vulgar about it. The kid represented Pakistan and brought it glory.

These mullah types like Abdul Majeed will sink Pakistan. The people are so talented but the mullah types will never let them rise to their potential.

Abdul Majeed, amanat was even touching people's feet!!

No matter what people here might say, you should never accept THAT!

Majeed,
You will do Pakistanis a lot of favor by not being so "holier than thou". Have you read Hawkings? If you say yes, then I shall have a specific question for you. You want people to 'worship' hawkings without reading or understanding him? Heck, I will take Amanat over Hawkings any day, and I KNOW why I would do so.

Still, there is something very sweet and cute about students of Islamiyat idolizing noam chomsky. Seems like an excellent choice both ways.

Who is to be blamed for this mediocrity? Writer or Chowk staff for allowing its publication? My vote goes to the Chowk staff for their ineptitude.
