Anything, including casting votes, in these elctions is haram; because it legitimizes people and a system that has rebelled against the clear verdicts of Allah and his Habib (pbuh). Not only that, this system promotes bayhayai, riba and kills innocent Muslims in a polity of Muslims. No mountain will crash on our heads if we don't vote in this cruel, cruppt, and inhuman system but it eventually will if we do.

DOn't worry - there won't be any real civil war in pakiland... even though it may be a good thing for the world if pakis just eliminate each other...
Only way for a civil war in pakiland is if the Military splits down the middle... chances of that is remote... the generals love their privileged life much more than they ever love their bedouin faith...
The generals just use the faith to gain internal strength and external dollars... now that islam has become serious liability against getting moolah from outside, they will make amends... which is why BB is back in business, bombs are raining, gunships are flying...
There will be a lot of chaos in coming years, but not a civil war... sorry zeemax, very less chance of you beheading hamidm in your portable guillotne...

#96 Naqshbandi: While I disagree with you on certain things, I salute you for showing the true spirit of the Pakistani people and true kinship with them in this difficult time that Pakistan is going through. May God give some sense to Musharraf so he realizes just how big a mess he has made in Pakistan by playing games with soul-less, heartless, power-hungry maulvis.

any well wisher of pakistan would pray there is NO civil war.
It is a traditional islamic saying that tyranny is better than anarchy. i.e. it is better to be patient under a tyrannical ruler than for people to start violence and mayhem which will kill innocent people. i would like an islamic revolution but a peaceful one. an Algeria like situation would be a DISASTER.

I thought you moved to London from pakiland... does that mean you are living off your women family mambers?...

it would be interesting to do a straw poll of chowkies to see who we would vote for in the forthcoming paki elections if we were eligible.
i am divided between NS and Immy.
If Mawlana Noorani had been alive I would have given him my (non existent) vote...

zeemax,
.... would you also recommend talking to serial murderers and rapists ? ...... i am not against talking, but only after they are convinced that the alternative is death - contrary to popular myth, these people are a bunch of common criminals .... we have been talking to these barbarians of malakand since the seventies - nothing has changed ....... laton kay bhoot baton say nahin mantey ....

Zeemax,
" a 'proper' civil war in settled areas is now beginning. Good!"
Why would you wish for a civil war? Nothing is worse for a country than a civil war.

#87 Posted by hamidm2,
Ponder over this. The TNSM leader you talk about sits in jail only because he does not apply for bail - he does not believe in this judicial system.
That's commitment you won't find in your sprinkler guy. And, I think, this TNSM leader can sure as hell beat the crap out of your sprinkler guy just with this difference in the two.
You have to talk to these people. I think the caretaker CM NWFP has called for talks today.

Re: # 82
mohar mian,
the tnsm, which is an offshoot, and maybe even the armed wing of urstruly's party (ji), has been declaring all kinds of things since the early ninetees ... their incompetent leader got thousands of his people killed in afghanistan and now sits in jail while his son-in-law, maulana radio, is trying to revive islam ....... all we need are more daisy cutters and more room in gitmo .... a couple of crore rupees, a land cruiser, and a few boys with kohl lined eyes can also do the trick .....

Urstruly,
I don't agree with your pessimism. A new social contract is needed and it will be offered. Anyone who takes it, takes it. The ones who don't, can move to London or california and eat off their women like the Iranians standing under lamp posts.
