Unfortunately the second rumor seems to have some semblance of truth:

'Imran Khan arrested by Pakistani authorities' (CNN/IBN)
Published on Monday , November 05, 2007 at 12:02 in World section
New Delhi: Leading Pakistani opposition leader Imran Khan escaped from his residence in Lahore on Sunday hours after police put him under house arrest following the imposition of emergency rule by President Pervez Musharraf.
However, the website of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Khan’s party, says that there is more than meets the eye in the disappearance of the former cricketer.
The website says, “Contrary to reports in electronic media, the Chief Political Secretary of PTI Saifullah Niazi has said that Imran Khan has been arrested by the government authorities and his whereabouts are unknown.”
“Chairman Imran Khan was told by the police last night that he is under house arrest. But around 3 am the police brought warrants to take him to prison and at that time it was discovered that he had mysteriously vanished while there were over two dozen policemen surrounding his house. We are not sure where they have taken him as there is no way he could have gone out without the knowledge of the police and he could be in a lot of danger,” the website quoted Niazi as saying.
Khan's political party has little support in Pakistan, but he is a high profile and respected opposition figure.
"He (Khan) was detained along with eight supporters at the house. The supporters are at home but he has slipped away," a close relative was quoted by Reuters as saying on Sunday.
Khan, speaking after his house arrest, had told CNN that Musharraf was squarely to blame for Pakistan's problems and said Emergency rule would not help.
"He never said how is he through the Emergency going to do things that are any different. He was the absolute ruler, he had absolute control so what was the impediment in his way to fight militancy and terrorism,” Khan had said.

The answer to all your questions is that in times of emergency and Marshal law people are not able to come out. State always has the power to disperse people and allow gatherings from forming. People came out when CJ was sacked the first time because at that point Government allowed protests to take place...
If your humourous take is correct then they should not have come out the first time as well

Rumor, quite confirmed now, is that the US occupation force has overthrown Musharraf who has been placed under house arrest- just as masadi had predicted on here.
Another unfortunate rumor that might be true though not confirmed is that the authorities have eliminated Imran Khan. If anyone has any info on this please post...

Re: # 22 it is retrospect that people find ZAB to be a cool guy. But if you recall the Zia incarnation, he appeared when there were millions out on the streets protesting his election which they considered rigged.
Once the army man is in, he will never vacate it without a fight. The fight cannot be done by carrying out contempt for the legislature - which is what the SC and its judges have been doing for some time. That is all I am saying.
Mushy had no other option for his survival.....he had to do it. the muddle-classes have been shown to be on their own and that they cannot even organise a piss-up in a brewery....
Man, the Lal-Masjidi jihadis had more gumption and oomph than the muddle-classes and their lawyers - for this atleast you have to take your hats of for the lal-masjidis.

Re: # 23
You have not still answered the question
How many people came out when ZAB was hanged.....
And does the lack of numbers meant that he was not popular or that an over whelming majority supported his hanging...

Re: # 21
show me the numbers, the pictures of the people pouring out into the streets....when ZAB was done and Zia came about there were millions
Hell there were more people out in the streets protesting American Raids in Afghanistan then there are now.....
Mush-e-ruff did wrong 8 years back....but he is the power the dictator and only the muddle-class is bothered about it the rest of the aam janta seem to be going about their business of earning a living wage and leaving this to the muddle-class since it appears to be their fight.
Apart from writing on websites like this, appearing on BBC, CNN, Fox etc and some english language papers the muddle-class has not organised itself to show evidence of popular support.

Mr Dot and Dash ur sign in name is also humurous by the way just as yur posts and questions u have just put up....
Tell me is the criteria for judging an action is the public presence on the street and that too in times of emergency!!!!!
Let me ask you a question here. How many people came out when Bhutto was hanged?
Did the lack of public turnout at that point mean that people were happy he was hanged!!!!
And yet millions flocked to receive his daughter in 1986 and yet again in 2007…
Explain me this unusual anomly....
Lets see the power of you humour again....

Masadi, that is the point here.....you have identified it precisely in your second para! Congratulations.

(b)how many of the awam turned up/out on the streets in protest
(c) what exactly have the PPP, PML (various shades and colours), MMA, MQM etc said so far - apart from the usual platitudes.
Answers (a) naada (b) zilch (c) vow of silence
Shouldnt that tell you something, or atleast should it not tell the over-educated and hyper-ventilating lawyers latchkeys, and judges sometihng here....

Re: # 16
Those were funny elections....
An assembly whose life was 5 years elected President for next five years thus electing him twice for a cummulative period of 10 years. This has never occured any where in the world...
But then what happened on Saturday has also not occured any where in the world also....
Judiciary has been purged for merely contemplating and listening to case against "elected" Musharraf...
