yes, i know the power a leader can generate. but see, all of the people in pakistan do not have one leader (well, unfortunately, even the Quaid's principles are forgotten now) and here we have a cesspool of politicians. Imran Khan is honest and not meant for politics, even though his courage to stand up to those other dishonest people is admirable. He might succeed someday and even now, people are listening up to him. He can bring about a thorough change in the political scenario of Pakistan, but what I meant was that first, everyone of us should try to know what is best forus and everyone and try to know each others ideas and have good communication to bring a debate to a conclusion. Now I know a debate has a potential to go on and on but here we should struggle to correct ourselves first and see to it that each of us leads to a path which is agreed upon by the people of Pakistan (As a nation). Nations move ahead only in this way - the constitution has to be one that does not and cannot allow the things which happened in Pakistan's history and even today. Sadly, the people who are in politics these days are the ones betraying the very principles of Quaid's vision for Pakistan. Why can't we have each one of us, especially those who are in power be sane enough to think long-term for the country's future and therefore act as if each one of us is a custodian of Pakistan, therefore its leader? A leader whose first priority is his country - the people within the country. The people at the top level have corrupted everything, since the Quaid's death, to a point of no-return. True, a small group of people or even a person can bring a change which is called a revolution - but we do not want to turn it into something morbid, do we? I mean something which happens after the leader is not there for us anymore - we all fall into chaos and slow deterioration. The principles are ever-lasting, not the person. The actions done by each one of us to stand by those principles count - not plain rhetoric and confusion to where we're heading. If we all thought alike things would be simpler, but they aren't. The Quaid translates to 'great leader' but if it wasn't internal motivation to realize what we needed and those people who helped create the country did not struggle within to know what was best for them and their contemporaries, would we be calling ourselves Pakistani? The change which took place was desired by a particular group and it took place because everyone of them strived for a common cause by trying to know and learn and struggle, within themselves. Optimism is always welcome, so is individual struggle towards a defined cause which was defined by all of them.

thanks for admiration,Ras.But why social work beats politics.I mean what is Politics and what does it actually takes to be a politician? Doesn't it cover improvement of social standards of people which is what social work targets. And when an actor can become a President of USA why can't a sports man a social worker or an average citizen for that matter. For me anybody who has vision, priniciples and conviction should be a leader. It's high time for we the third world countries to sweep these trends of dirty politics and clear our minds from these conventional notions that'Politician has to be corrupt'. And dear mangotree,
if every one blows his own horn and be their own PiedPiper this will only create 'noise pollution'and every one heading to eventual collision and chaos. As people needs a leader to guide them and group them as a nation instead of crowd.

Why can't we be our own pied pipers and lead ourselves rather than rally behind someone as followers?

Nikhat,

one can admire your idealistic expression here

but social work beats politics any day.

Imran Khan the social worker still sounds much better

than Imran Khan the politician.
