After reading the article, I feel like the article is incomplete.

I personally like Amir Khan but i think Shah Rukh brings what the masses want. Shah Rukh may not be the great actor in Bollywood, but he is a very good entertainer. He brings happiness to masses like no one else in Hindi movies. That in itself is a great achievement.

He means he is not as white as he looks when he has foundation pasted on his face! And to think he endorses a product like Fair and Handoome. Yuck!

Thank you for writing such a timely and important article at a time when the Ummah is going berserk, oil has hit 100 bucks a barrel, Pakistan is divided equally into idiots and morons, earthquake in Bangladesh (or was it tsunami, whateva), and other insignificant issues confronting the region, we all need to learn how Shuka Khan made it big in Bombay. It really puts things in perspective. Can you also write one on Madhuballa. I love her.

Only kidding, it is important to stay on top of Khans of Bollywood, they enjoy that. I often wonder where would India be without Khans and Kumars (as in Dalip).

What did you mean by "he is not fair"?

Manoj Kumar may sue Shah Rukh Khan
posted by samratchandu (0) 9 hours ago (www.chitramala.com)

The chorus from the hit number dard-e-disco in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is sizzling screens across the world. After seeing Om Shanti Om, the 1970s star Manoj Kumar is feeling Dil mein mere hai dard… and thinks that there is a clear-cut proof to defame him and a deliberate attempt to humiliate him. The Purab Aur Paschim star who had turned patriotism into a celluloid art, was referring to the scene in OSO where his young double is beaten by police outside a theatre when he lands up for a premiere. His famous right palm on the face, always shown in profile, is there even on the passport photo of the artiste imitating Manoj... For more information visit:

Re: # 13
DM, St Columba's (not Columbus) is a Catholic school-a convent has nuns!! Srk got the sword of honour-which is like the best boy in that year. But I agree with your point, he was not poor.

DM,

Great info.

Mayank,

SRK's family was not 'stranded' in Dehli.

There were thousands of pathans of Frontier stayed back in India as they opposedMuslim League and Jinnah's Pakistan. All of them were either Congressmen or Badshah Khan's followers. The last prominent pathan of yore (Dehli) was Mohammed Yunus (Indira Gandhi's time).

So, dont misinform ppl here.

I don't think that his father was poor. I have never met a poor man (except some Christians) sending their son to Saint Columbus, perhaps the oldest convent school in Delhi. And I believe that he (i.e., his father) married the daughter of General Shahnawaz Khan, one of the most decorated heroes of Subhash Bose's Azad Hind Fauj.

The secret of King Khan's success lies is his

image of "The Boy Next Door" in India and now beyond.

Juicy gossip aside, one can relate to his roles

because he does not rely on his looks but on personality

portrayals.

Some readers may be interested in his rumored preferences

but those are his private affairs and just rumors.

He is a superb ENTERTAINER if not as great an actor

as AB and DK.

King Khan Rules the Box Office but Aamir makes better

movies!

Mayank,

U guys always mistake Hindi cinema fr Indian cinema. Indian cinema is more representative and creative (from all languages i.e 1000 movies outta whihc Bombay makes abt 150 films and some Hindi moies are made in UP; nobody watches them or know abt them outside UP+Bihar except in some Bhaiyya colonies in Bombay).

SRK is a successful actor but for acting talents one shud look for Aamir Khan.

Hritik, SRK are overrated Bollywoodians, talent-wise. Our movies are mostly emotional dramas (of late getting into feel-good, take-it-easy genres) but the potboilers is still the mainstay of Bollywood.

I believe that Shahrukh khan is one of the luckiest people in the world. Because with his limited talent and looks he has achieved such success. Look at Shahrukh Khan in Bazigar, he looks horrible in that movie. Yes, acting, is more important but he has had very similar roles in most of his movies. If you have watched one of his movies, you can pretty much predict his expressions and mannerisms in the next ones.
The thing that really irritates me about him is his arrogance. I have never heard Amir Khan say I am King Khan or that I am so sexy (yuck!). Amir Khan and the under-rated Sanjay Dutt, are better actors than him. In Devdas, he was over the top. He was also lucky because he has had Kajol with him and she is a brilliant performer.
Shahrukh Khan needs a lesson in humility. He is not as funny as he thinks he is, nor as good looking. Karan Johar has inflated his ego but that is another story..

He is the "Baachaa" (King) of bollywood. Will look for that book... though there is nothing I don't know. In other words I know the book would have nothing new about him...:-)but still it is fun reading about him.

I think initially his rise was due to Yashraj and Dharama Productions and the fact that all those movies were well made. In fact any one playing those roles in Dar DDLJ or KKHH would have become famous though frankly SRK did play them well.
However in my opinion his real rise has started after Devdas and the advent of multiplexes. He has become a metro hero. His appeal is wide ranging and he has something for everyone. For yuppies, he is the ultimate metro sexual with extremely articulate expression in english, for masses he has a touch with which they can identify with, for aunties he is the tounge in cheek naughty nephew and women he is the passionate lover who loves his woman passionately. His face is by no stretch of imagination good looking and yet it is nevertheless an extremely likeable and chrismatic face. In fact he would not be that much likeable if he had been as good looking as Hrithik Roshan or Arjun Rampal.
In Pakistan also Mr SRK has a huge following and once again his appeal trancends class and gender.

#4 This has to be the wittiest line on chowk that I can remember. Describes Urstruly's self-contradiction filled persona perfectly by doing a take on "kabhi khushi, kabhi gham"!! :-)

SRK is a Delhite metro-sexual boy from Saint Columbus School who loves his hindu wife and christian school fathers.
Despite being a muslim he does not think that Islam is the best thing after the Starbucks.

He has great faith in the humanity that makes him recipient of grace.
