zeemax #398: If what Sherry Rehman says is true (i.e. that benazir lost "bucketfulls of blood" on the way to the hospital), then that certainly makes the musharraf "explanation" incorrect. A doctor relation of mine told me that a fracture of the temporal bone (the govt explanation) per se is normally is not fatal. And if death occurs, it is because of bleeding from an artery in this region - but even in this case, the typical cycle is for the patient to first seem to have recovered, then go into a coma, and then die.
Zardari's wishes seem like a convenient excuse for the mess made of the autopsy, since the government could just as easily have said that this was a murder case and so the state had to complete forensic investigation before handing the body over to relatives.
So, the above begs the question - why would musharraf and his minions lie, particularly given their already low credibility with the public? The answer is anyone's guess. My guess is - plain stupidity, in trying to be "oversmart" by lying for some imagined "benefit" to musharraf.

all said and done - this was a death foretold... what the heck was she thinking coming back to pakiland...
on the other hand - it's also justice served - you play with fire, you die by it - alongwith a bunch of other innocent people... happens all the time... happened to Indira too...
Bottomline - don't play with fire, don't play with religion... but the lesson is never learnt...

Zeemax,
It must be morarji desai brand of beer that makes people like Devkant to claim outrageous things.
I can't get over his claim that no one ever resorts to violence in India to "prove a point".
All those violent assassinations of the multiple gandhis were pointless I suppose.

"There is no violence in Indian and US politics"
Yes you are right. Kennedys, mohandas gandhi, indira gandhi, rajiv, malcolm x, MLK were all politicians who were killed in Pakistan. Countless riots and killing in bombay, gujurat, ahmadabad, lucknow, delhi, all actually happened in Pakistan... It was actually propaganda that it happened in India. Even Amritsar, contrary to popular misconception, is in Pakistan so the operation blue star was actually operation greenstar.
You are pathetic. Most of the violence at partition was directed at Muslims in East Punjab. This is a fact of history. Since 1947, as before it, Indian politics is replete with extraordinary violence.
So please get of your high horse. Benazir does not compare to ruthlessness of your politicians ... So maybe you are coming up with these stupid stories only because you are an Indian and an ignorant one at that.

I think we should leave hindoos out of it.
This is Pakistan's problem, and hindoos should worry about their own squatting masses on the railroads.
This of-course is addressed to the devkants.

yasser, i never wrote of her planning her own assination. i wrote about the sucide attack in the crowd that may have gone horribly wrong. please remember that she escaped the first attack completely unharmed despite the bomb blast taking place as close to her as the second time.
also i am sure you must be aware that a few people have raised fingers at mushy accusing him to have his own convoy attacked twice.
this is a ruthless power game and she was very well at playing it. if you realy ask me, no one will ever know who killed her.
and about the comparasion you make with other assinations, i don't think they can be compared simply because the politics in india and usa is not as voilent as in pakistan. no one in india or usa had to resort to voilence to prove a point (excep in recent times in india).
voilence has been a part and parcel of pakistani politics since its inception. so nothing is impossible there.
you may choose to ignore what i say, but i wouldn't like to give bb a clean chit.

Question
Who will Lead the PPP now..??
although power struggle within the Bhutto family has already started, Zardari Symbolically did not allowed Zulfiqar Junior in the Baithak, he was made to sit outside along with other mourners.
symbolism plays a vital part in the Wadera culture, the putting of an Ajrak on the Coffin, .......Mumtaz Bhutto's not comming to the funeral ...etc.. Not allowing Nawaz on the first day ...its all symbolism ....which an ordinary sindhi understands more then anything else.
......IF and ONLY If Zulfiqar Junior is made up of the same mattle as his illustrious Grand Father the Zulfiqar Senior aka Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto , he is the Only one that can now provide the Bhutto Symbolism needed in the PPP.
but I doubt , Zardari will allow that...

Because this is not an angle. Or correction as much an angle as ruthless Rajiv Gandhi planning a suicide attack on his own rally/campaign to discredit the government resulting in his death. Or maybe JFK and bobby planning their own deaths ... Or wait maybe Indira Gandhi planned her own assassination because she had some sort of perverse hatred for the sikhs.
I doubt that there is anyone even as naïve as to respond to your post other than myself.

yasser, i don't know if she killed her bro. maybe no one will know that. but the fact that the brother of the ruling PM is killed in a shootout does raise a few questions of suspicion.
second thing, it may be insensitive what i have written, but make no mistake, bb was a ruthless politician and she would gone to all possible extent to get what she wanted. didn't she make a deal with mushy to come into pakistan to become the PM????
if we are going to debate each angle of her death, why do you want to leave this one out????

Devkant,
How are you so certain that she killed her brother?
What you've written is just downright insensitive and forgive me for saying it childish.
I suppose to each his own.
