"A BHUTTO IS A BHUTTO - A different view of Benazir's assasination". Read this thought provoking analysis by Dr. Maulana Imran N. Hosein. Its an eye-opener for those who aren't still 'internally' blind.

{" Perhaps if I looked hard enough I'd spot Rabia. ...Rabia rang to inform us of her arrival...

Who are these people? It is as if whenever the country faces some crisis, a self motivated, self directed, made to order, angry, violent mob hones in on banks, petrol stations, cars and unleashes its fury. Are these the very people that get stepped on year after year by a self serving government that makes empty promises, in or out of uniform? Benazir offered no democratic solutions, she was as power hungry as the rest of the feuding feudals, politicians and military personnel clambering to the very top of a crumbling, shattered, broken nation. Perhaps disappointment and resentment runs so deep, that this is the only time these people can express their dissatisfaction. "}

Rakshanda,
Beautifully written and exciting to read. You have combined suspense and a very personal touch in this narrative concerning a topic that kept so many of us ex-pat Karachiites on needles and pins. First of all, let me express my relief that Rabia made it back safely :) Secondly, please don't give that much credit of resolve or purpose to these violent and greedy rioters. These are the barrel bottom dwellers who seize upon such chaos and opportunity to practice their suppressed desires of rape, murder, arson, looting, and general fun. Did you not see the glee on their faces as they beat up on defenseless airconditioners? What a way to express your grief and affection for BB? Good job, Rakshanda.

was a reminder that Pakistan cannot be run by independant minded Pakistanis.It was also a reminder that those who helped create it, will also charter our course in future.

Thanks for this piece and its discussion of ambivalence towards Bhutto-which has been an issue among critics of Bhutto.
